Punk Like Me: Like other minorities, I too was judged by the colour of my skin

Gavin McInnesRebel Commentator

I was an immigrant. I know what it's like to come to a new country, talk with a weird accent, and get beaten up again and again.

(LANGUAGE WARNING)

Then when I got older, my friends and I couldn't get jobs because of the colour of our skin (and hair.) We were forced to eat out of Dumpsters and live in overcrowded, unsanitary places called "punk houses."

There were literally Nazis in the streets!

So I know what it's like to be discriminated against, believe me...

I was never beat up or bullied or even intimidated. I have the privilege of being fairly well dressed and well enough acquainted with the concept of courtesy to get by. Fuck yeah, PRIVILEGE!! I’m keeping it.

Gavin, if only you had thought to thrust out your tongue a la Justin Trudeau, things could have been so different for you. I mean, look how people worldwide not only accept him but actually fawn over him. So many ‘if onlys’.

You are a crazy bitch.
Too funny, your best yet.

I’m with you Gavin.
I was bullied because of my school grades (A’s an B’s)
I was beaten because of my disability (I wore glasses and was called “4 eyes”)
I was pushed around because of my weight (I was skinny)
I got turned down for a good government job because of the colour of my skin (white)
Why can’t we get some compassion for all the violent biases we had to endure?
WAAAAA!!!!

Yours is a caustic wit, Gavin! I am sure your irony will be lost on the social justice warrior crowd.

John Landry, Excellent comment!! I can see Justin on his unicorn right now. The smell of rainbows and unicorn farts in the air. All hail the great Justin, Saviour of our country. Without him to teach us how to rethink time and space where would we be? Living that terribly normal life like Gavin did! That’s where!!

No joke, I told a Black person, who claimed I’m “privileged” because I’m White and who is always blaming her race for not getting hired in the public service that when I have a Govt interview, it is almost always with either a non-White person or a Woman.

She still claimed I was “privileged” because the the Woman was White, thus caused me to have an advantage.

Like the White woman is automatically going to favour me because I’m White, would persuade/bully the non-White person to favour me as well, never mind that maybe because I’m a man, that could be a disadvantage – that is the self-pitying, blame everyone but themselves mentality of such persons

Sarcasm to truly illustrate a accurate point that there’s far, far more like other types of looks will result in profiling and discrimination that what the what the social justice warriors are clamming or (non-White) race, Female (gender) non-Hetero (Sexual Orientation), especially since such SJWs tend to be unpleasant people with bad attitudes but hide behind their race, gender, and/or sexual orientation and use this people disliking them or not being hired/promoted when it is their own fault

Gavin, that was hilarious!

Like you, I grew up of “Punk Descent” and was incredibly abused during the 80’s, for the way I looked. Stopped numerous times by the Windsor Police for just simply walking down the street while looking like a Dead Kennedy (even tough I was nothing but a Minor Threat). I even got sucker punched at Willies (local diner) by a White MALE truck driver, because he didn’t like my spikey hair and black lipstick. Where was my safe space?

Gavin—Do you think that Canada’s University students are smart enough to realize that parts of your humor are pointed at them, especially the bunch that voted for Trudeau ?

Too funny, Gavin. Thanks for the smiles and chuckles this morning.

Gavin I don’t know if I can sleep tonight. You have evoked memories that I have tried to suppress for so long. The terrible visions of your described life continually flash across my minds eye and remind me. The terrible living conditions, the things you had to do to just survive on a day to day basis. The terrible pain that you went through and still go through remembering your past life.
You see, I understand all of it because I too went through a similar life experience. I was forced to be home at a certain time each and every day. There were places that I could not go or run the risk of a terrible punishment from my Parents. A punishment that would leave me isolated in my room and forced to do things I did not want to do, like homework. I mean I knew that schooling and doing homework was bad for me, but I was forced to do it.
So, yes I too was forced to live a normal life – oh the shame of it.

And the Bacon Lettuce Mayo (BLM) upper middle class movement thought they have it bad.

Good satire on Gavin’s part.

Poor you Gavin. I didn’t realize you were one of those kids. I wouldn’t have said some of the things I said about you (not out loud, of course).
I’m going to have to take the next 5 minutes and reassess my life too!
Poor, poor you.

I have a dream! That one day Punks will parade up the streets of Toronto with Justin Trudeau leading the march!
