Question of the day: Do we need gender parity in cabinet?

Emily PrattRebel Correspondent

Justin Trudeau is proposing to bring gender parity to the federal cabinet if he is elected in the fall.

So I hit the streets to see if you support gender equality among ministers.

Well it goes to show you that most people want gender equality in government. The or should I say only a few believe the best qualifications should be. News flash here. We have what at one time several women running our provinces and with in that several woman in high profile cabinet positions. Guess what, they are just as funded up as the men. So those who want gender equality, fine, but you won’t get a better government because of it. A politician is a politician and therefore only care about themselves and what they can take from the many to give to themselves first and the so called poor second or should I say crumbs. They lie, they cheat and the steal just like a man!!!!! What we need in government is jot gender equality but accountability and for us taxpayers to be able to hold them accountable, nit once every 4 years but right funding now! !!!!!!!

Tell me more about this fantasy land where the most qualified people get hired, because that certainly isn’t the reality of the real world.

Perhaps Trudeau should step aside and let a woman have his position if it is an issue close to his heart. We women are entirely under represented as leaders of the Liberal Party. The best part is she probably would be more qualified. Win win.

In Ontario the extremist Liberal Government has proclaimed 6 genders…..so does that mean a federal Liberal Cabinet will have equal representation for all 6?

Joan – please do not respond.

The job should go to the most qualified candidate. Man or Woman! But as silly as raising this issue is, it’s a good tactic. “I’ll make issues out of non-issues so people aren’t focussed on how unqualified I (Justin Trudeau) am to run this country”.

The climate will cease to change if you elect——- JUSTIN

Gender, race, sexual orientation are ALL IRRELEVANT to the composition of a Gov., a Cabinet or any job/career.
May the most qualified get the job!!!
Enough of this nonsense!

I’m just waiting for his promise that the sun will shine everyday if he’s elected

Could anyone tell me two examples of policy issues that would be women on one side and men on the other? Ok….one example?

This notion that affirmative action candidates “represent” their grievance group is utter hogwash…they don’t even “represent” themselves…think about it.

Nobody who is elected should represent anything other than the interests of the voters who elected them. Party whips should be treated like any other Mafia thug who coerces an elected official.

On many occasions in the past the Liberals have fielded feminists for parliament…trusting naive voters elected them…this street interview shows how gullible many people are.

But when it became apparent that they were man hating feminize cunts…..they just didn’t stay elected. But the Liberals just don’t get it.

I have no issues with women in power…I have served many…those who harboured animosity towards men and abused their power resented me….those who were decent human beings praised my service.

Enforced egalitarians rule by quantity and not by quality.

So what parts of the feminist agenda remain unattained goals? Why would the Liberals deem it necessary to gender load the cabinet with women….who have no desire to foster relationships with men….in order to implement those policies…..

(!) Silencing all dissent and criticism of the feminist agenda through “hate speech” laws
(2) A30% “man tax” to achieve “pay equity” and glean funding for universal day care and other feminist projects
(3) Draconic chaperoning of heterosexual relationships in order to end the “rape culture”
(4) Maligning and vilifying men in order to justify double standards in the law

Yes, but if a bruce jenner type liberal gets elected and then it changes teams part way through a term, does troodo have to change the head count? We need to know for certain here.

troodo is such a shallow, dim-witted fk!!!

If the male/female ratio in cabinet mirrors the male/female ratio of those who attempt to become MP’s in total, then I am happy with that.

Perhaps Cabinet positions should be conducted like a job interview to determine qualifications based on a points system for the job. To avoid partisanship, conduct the interviews with all the other parties involved in a committee format. The “committee” itself should be formed in much the same manner based on HR principles, asking the right questions, unbiased interpretations of the answers etc. Just a thought. The toughie will likely be getting cooperation from the Opposition Parties. Our Parliament has become very adversarial in that regard, and not just under the current Gov’t. It has been going on for years. Really came to a head when a separtist party, the Bloc Quebecois, became part of the National Gov’t! I doubt Justin has the smarts or abilities to manage something like this. Probably why he is making a generic statement pandering for votes.

The fact of the matter is that the most qualified people for the job are not the ones being selected, so this may help with the clown car of ministers that we have. There needs to be a better filter.

The politically correct crowds of Toronto have done it! Again! To hell with the one with best qualifications for the job! Is that right, lefties? Some of the males interviewed demonstrated why educated, independent women with strong personality and character have difficulties finding a fitting male partner.

Go for Trudeau or Mulcair, Toronto! In short order most of you will become either a Liberal hack or unionized.
commented 2015-06-16 17:12:53 -0400
It should be the best man or woman for the job. We don’t need to stack the deck for any gender or race.
commented 2015-06-16 16:54:15 -0400
If out of the 160 elected member in the new parliament 40 were women and the cabinet is split 50-50 men vs women how about the other 4 identifiable sexes we are being told about do they get fair share of power as well?
commented 2015-06-16 16:40:08 -0400
I can’t see how implementation of this could ever be done. Since the outcome of an election can’t be known ahead of time, it can’t be done during candidate selection; so that would mean that, once people were elected, you’d have to enforce the quotas somehow. The only other way wouuld be to have two members per riding, which then drives up the cost of government exponentially – salary, office budgets, pension, etc, not to mention the amount of time it takes for a vote to be taken in the HOC. sorry, just not do-able.
commented 2015-06-16 16:31:55 -0400
I totally agree with you Rick Plesnik. Gender should have nothing to do with whether or not one is appointed to the Cabinet. As a female, I want the most capable for the job selected – it doesn’t matter whether the person is male or female. And yes, once again – Trudeau is simply pandering for VOTES.
commented 2015-06-16 16:21:10 -0400
He’ll say one thing to get votes, then change his mind (VERY broadest sense of the word) when it comes to forming policy. Remember open nominations?
commented 2015-06-16 16:13:10 -0400
What ever happened to the most qualified for the job, regardless of gender? Justin is trolling for votes.
