Question of the Day: What did you do for Earth Day?

Emily PrattRebel Correspondent

Today is Earth Day. The annual day of environmental awareness and protection has been around since 1970 and celebrated here in Canada for the last 35 years.

But what does this day actually accomplish and do people even care?

We hit the streets to see what you are doing for Earth Day and if there should even be a day designated to saving the planet.

Tell us what you think in the comments!

I did not do anything for Earth Day. The Earth does not need saving.

What did I do for Earth Day? When was earth day? Oh, TODAY? Didn’t even notice — I was working to pay bills…

wasn’t aware of it but I can say I did do my hump day burn in the firepit, which consist of all burnable trash. I like putting out a small plastic grocery bag of garbage every couple weeks. Try not to buy non recycleable cans or glass. It may not be a green award but it is an effort.

I’ll idle all my vehicles and turn on all my lights while I cook a roast! I voted for global warming but that Stephen Harper guy has reduced Canada’s Carbon footprint over the last two terms and it is still cold! I’ll vote for anyone who doesn’t want to allow the earth to warm up.

What did I do for Earth Day?

I gave thanks that our great country is blessed to have such a wonderful oil industry which, at it’s own expense mind you, is digging into the soil to extract that horrible filthy black oil which that bitch Mother Nature contaminated our beloved land with.

Against all odds, these companies continue this noble quest to complete the greatest environmental cleanup in the history of mankind, in spite of suffering the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune or the criticism of people who are not exactly the sharpest knives in the drawer.

Darn, my wife’s going to kill me, I forgot all about another critically important day in our lives. Better grab some flowers and a card on the way home. Oh, wait. Earth Day? I thought you said birthday. Phew! Neither of us give a ____ about earth day.

Well for me it brought back a flood of memories of April 21’s spent during the past 65 years of my existence on this little blue planet. Glorious warm days and dull cold days, wet and dry days, snow still on the ground days and buds on the trees days. Never was it predictable.

All these regressive lefty “days” are starting to annoy me. From what exactly are we trying to “save the planet”? Ourselves? The Earth is quite healthy here in Canada. Places like China and India are problem areas but there’s nothing we can do about them, so why worry?

Should be called Idiots Day or at the very least Hypocrites Day. In any event thanks for the reminder……I gotta go turn on all the lights, leave the truck idling for a half hour, and find a tire to burn. Whew.

Okay. So people aren’t celebrating. No big surprise. 4 :20 got more attention than Earth Day. What does that say? That most would rather pollute their temples and the environment with still criminal and always dirty pot smoke? Sounds about right.

What did I do today to celebrate the earth? I did what I do every day. I took me pooch for a nice walk in a really cold rain, so cold it turned to snow. I thought the white dog had gone to bed for the summer but I guess not yet.

Happy Earth Day!!

Well, I haven’t quite decided what I’m going to do to celebrate earth day yet.
So I’m just sitting here chewing on venison pepperettes and working on my second quart of ale. I’m thinking maybe a methane contribution ? Would that be suitable?
