Countering radical Islam: Moderate Muslim Dr. M. Zuhdi Jasser speaks out

Rebel Staff

How did a terrorist cell find safe haven in a Muslim community in Brussels and carry out two successful terrorist attacks over four months?

"Who are the voices of moderate Islam?," asks Dr. M. Zuhdi Jasser, a founder of the Muslim Reform Movement. "Who are the voices that can take back Islam from the radicals?"

The West's focus on fighting Islamic "militants" is failing, and needs to be replaced by a "tough love" strategy of countering political Islam as a whole, and supporting moderate Muslims who believe in democracy, freedom of speech, women's rights and gay rights.

Peter posted, “It is my firm opinion that there are considerably more than just Dr. M. Zuhdi, Tarek Fatah and Raheel Raza that ignore those parts of their sacred text, but keep their mouths shut because they do not want to be killed for being apostate.”

…..ignore those parts of the sacred text. If that is what they are doing then it goes against what being a Muslim stands for. If you are afraid of being killed by other Muslims for being an apostate, then the worst parts of Islam still has power over you. If that is the case, how can you call yourself a moderate. I just can’t see how there is any such thing as a moderate at this point in time. You either are or you are not Muslim. I want all my Muslims to be apostates because that is the only way I will begin to believe they are not under the power of Sharia law. Until that happens they are not ready to safely integrate into western countries in my opinion.

I cannot accept Islam because it is a ‘theocracy’, not a peaceful religion, but a political and social construct which is in direct conflict with the west. Islam needs at least a few hundred years and a whole lot of work to modify to the point where it will be anything less than what it is today. What it is today is a threat.

The only way I can rationalize the concept of peace-loving Muslims is to assume that they must reject the concept of objective truth. They must, instead, embrace some form of relativism wherein one’s religion doesn’t necessarily refer to one’s belief, but rather one’s method of being spiritual…. one method among many. That’s the only way to reconcile the seemingly irreconcilable. I do know of peaceful Muslims who observe all the rituals, pray five times a day, memorized the Qur’an and repeat all the ritualistic prayers, but know nothing of what they are saying. That’s because they’ve memorized everything in Arabic, and they don’t speak Arabic. I guess they think it’s the rituals, not one’s belief, that gets them into heaven. That doesn’t seem plausible for highly intelligent, educated people, although the one person that I’m thinking of was a medical Doctor. But in his case, after he educated himself on his religion, he converted to Christianity. Peaceful Islam is only possible in a world where there is no external objective reality and each one of us lives entirely within our own subjective spiritual Universe. One can’t reconcile the two, otherwise.

Randy – unfortunately, your comments and position regarding Muslims speaks to the gross ignorance of the many who are apologists (like yourself), delusional and utopian dreamers. Why do you and so many others refuse to accept what Islam really is? Do you not learn anything from history, or understand the Hadith, or the Qu’ran and Sannah that the Imams proselytize? According to Islam, you are either with them, or against them. Within the Islam indoctrination cult, you are either Muslim and commit completely to the Qu’ran, or not. There is no such thing as ‘middle’ ground, or a ‘moderate’ Muslim in Islam. The term ‘moderate Muslim’ is a delusional apologistic construct of Western society and does not exist in the Muslim world. Furthermore, no one suggests that Muslims lie and deceive since it is clearly written in the Qu’ran as an important critical strategy in the advancement of Islam in the world.
It is obviously apparent that it is this kind of ignorant appeaser’s attitude combined with the rejection of absolute truth that is proving to be the catalyst for Western society’s demise.
And since you are throwing numbers around, may the following provide a brighter light into your darkness of delusion (hopefully using words won’t get this post removed like it did about a month ago):
- ninety-eight percent of new immigrants into our country are Muslim
- ninety-two percent support Jihad
- eighty-six percent favor Sharia Law
- six percent desire to assimilate
- forty-eight percent of mosques being used for jihad recruitment
May all the apologists and ignorant stand at the front of the jihad line!

Hey, Rebel, get with it for God’s sake, and allow us to edit or remove unnecessary posts! It is too easy to accidentally post twice here…

NANCY PAUL, your comment below is right on the money. And Peter Netterville, we do NOT need more Dr Jassers, not until such people renounce Islam completely )or get out of our country otherwise). Islam does not belong anywhere outside of the cesspool of Arabia.

Dr Jasser, you are not a Muslim, period. Here’s one thing the Koran orders: "Quran (5:33) – “The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His messenger and strive to make mischief in the land is only this, that they should be murdered or crucified or their hands and their feet should be cut off on opposite sides or they should be imprisoned; this shall be as a disgrace for them in this world, and in the hereafter they shall have a grievous chastisement”

Hoe dare you call yourself a moderate, sir. There’s no such thing in Islam. You must be out there killing infidels left and right to obey your ‘holy words’.

Now, I must go and counsel a ‘moderate’ Christian who thinks he can get away with calling himself a christian while denying the divinity of Christ and thinking that the Christian church accepts the LGBTs as they are. Etc etc. So stay out of our faces with your false promises of ’moderation, Doctor. We all know what bigoted liars Muslims are – even that is part of the unholy Koran. Want some verses on that too..?

Maurice Potvin said, “But I still can’t understand where obviously intelligent people like Dr. M. Zuhdi, Tarek Fatah and Raheel Raza and coming from. I have to ask myself if they’ve ever read the Qur’an, studied the Hadiths or the life of Mohammad. They’re obviously intelligent, articulate and highly educated people, who are sincere about peaceful co-existence with people of other faiths in a secular world. However, that attitude is completely at odds with everything Islam stands for.”

Yes, I can understand the confusion. Because if they followed the Qur’an to the letter of what it says, they would be Islamic terrorists.

There is no possible way to interpret the Qur’an in a manner which allows for peaceful coexistence with infidels without subjugating them and forcing them to pay a tax.

These people obviously have to ignore those parts of the Qur’an. And we need to be thankful that they are in fact doing so. Just think of the precarious position they are willing to place themselves in so they can speak out against Islam! Would we have that courage? I am not sure I would.

It is my firm opinion that there are considerably more than just Dr. M. Zuhdi, Tarek Fatah and Raheel Raza that ignore those parts of their sacred text, but keep their mouths shut because they do not want to be killed for being apostate.

The real question is, what will those people do when confronted to choose one side or the other. To this, I cannot say, no one can, not even them until that time appears.

For those who say that Muslims will lie, even when to the is a sin, but is OK in the name of Islam are missing the point. Not all Muslims are bad! We always say " Why do these so called Muslim Moderates do something to combat this evIL part of Islam? " and so there in this video there is such a group, but then you say they are just lying! With this type of attitude towards Muslims, for you there will be no peace and no resolution. Only about 8% are radicals but then there are up to 30% or more that are Islamist. Those are the ones that side with ISIS by funding them and agreeing with them but don’t want to get there hands dirty so to speak. So yes we must combat this, but it should start with the 60% of peaceful Muslim’s because they are the ones being more persecuted by Sharia Law in the Middle East. You can always tell a Islamist when you see one because of the hatred they have for other that are not Muslim and that is not what this video implies to me. Any start towards peace is worth it don’t you think.

Must always be skeptical and vigilant for one of the most important rules in Islam is the great “al-taqiyya” or deception as their greatest weapon to infiltrate infidels. Muslims lie when it is in their interest to do so and “Allah” will not hold them accountable for lying when it is beneficial to the cause of Islam. They can lie without any guilt or fear of accountability or retribution. A lie in the defense of Islam is approved even applauded in their “holy” books.

A so-called ‘moderate’ Muslim is someone who doesn’t adhere to Islam’s teachings and follow the pattern of Muhammad’s life and according to the Koran would be identified as a hypocrite and subject to the same fate as the infidels. I agree NANCY PAUL there is no such thing as a moderate Muslim. Islam is Islam and there are no modifiers, the same for its adherents. PETER we need “more people like” Jasser, a lot, lot, lot, lot………………… more of hypocritical Muslims who have abandoned Islamic teaching, but don’t hold your breath! People like Jasser are dangerous because they lull people into a false sense of security, thinking that a religion that hasn’t changed its practices and teachings over 1400 years could somehow be transformed into something that it is not. Importantly, in Islam, the Koran is regarded as the exact words of their god Allah dictated to Muhammad and accordingly would be regarded as unalterable. To remove the violent verses directed at infidels from the Koran would leave very little left. I wish the Rebel would stop promoting this guy and others involved with the so-called Muslim Reform Movement, such as Raheel Raza. Wishful dangerous thinking!

“How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its votaries! Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy. The effects are apparent in many countries. Improvident habits, slovenly systems of agriculture, sluggish methods of commerce, and insecurity of property exist wherever the followers of the Prophet rule or live. A degraded sensualism deprives this life of its grace and refinement; the next of its dignity and sanctity. The fact that in Mohammedan law every woman must belong to some man as his absolute property – either as a child, a wife, or a concubine – must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Islam has ceased to be a great power among men. Thousands become the brave and loyal soldiers of the faith: all know how to die but the influence of the religion paralyses the social development of those who follow it. No stronger retrograde force exists in the world. Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytizing faith. It has already spread throughout Central Africa, raising fearless warriors at every step; and were it not that Christianity is sheltered in the strong arms of science, the science against which it had vainly struggled, the civilisation of modern Europe might fall, as fell the civilisation of ancient Rome.”

“…But the Mahommedan religion increases, instead of lessening, the fury of intolerance. It was originally propagated by the sword, and ever since, its votaries have been subject, above the people of all other creeds, to this form of madness. In a moment the fruits of patient toil, the prospects of material prosperity, the fear of death itself, are flung aside. The more emotional Pathans are powerless to resist. All rational considerations are forgotten. Seizing their weapons, they become Ghazis—as dangerous and as sensible as mad dogs: fit only to be treated as such. While the more generous spirits among the tribesmen become convulsed in an ecstasy of religious bloodthirstiness, poorer and more material souls derive additional impulses from the influence of others, the hopes of plunder and the joy of fighting. Thus whole nations are roused to arms. Thus the Turks repel their enemies, the Arabs of the Soudan break the British squares, and the rising on the Indian frontier spreads far and wide. In each case civilisation is confronted with militant Mahommedanism. The forces of progress clash with those of reaction. The religion of blood and war is face to face with that of peace.”

Maurice you took the words right out of my mouth. I just don’t get it either. I didn’t hear any mention of the Koran or Shariah law. How can he be advocating accepting gays, women’s rights, the right to leave Islam(apostates rights)etc. and still remain Muslim. It seems………..‘logically incoherent.’ It just does not compute, so it is hard for me to trust the authenticity of his statements. I don’t yet buy it.
Also, he mentioned a few times that ‘America needs to be educated’ about the moderate movement. It seems to me that he should concentrate on educating Muslims on the moderate movement. I’m afraid what Nancy is saying seems more likely.

I’m sorry, but there is NO moderate Islam – just as there is NO moderate Nazism – there is nothing moderate in any sense, way or feeling about Islam the death cult. If the West wants to pursue its path of free speech, equality and the bedrock our ancestors created , the Cult must be extinguished in Canada, Islam banned, Mosques torn down. The soothing honey of the so called “moderate” must be seen as the Trojan Horse it is. There is no grey area in Islam – there is only complete submission or death. Why is this so hard to understand????!!!!

Since every religion is a declaration about what one believes to be objective truth, their religious beliefs and their embracing of secular society seems a contradiction to me. They obviously condemn violence in the name of Islam, and wish to live peacefully and harmoniously with their neighbors, so the fact that they still remain Muslim seems logically incoherent.

The bottom line is. Never trust a Muslim, for once the call to Jihad is made and it will be, all Muslims who may, at heart, be moderate, will take up arms. They have no choice, for if they do not do as their more aggressive brothers do, then they too, will become the enemy of Islam and their heads will also roll.

Once the smell of blood is apparent to them, they will begin to enjoy their task. The animal instinct is very close to the surface of these lovers of peace.

Never trust a Muslim, their brains are programmed to kill. For them, killing is part of life.
