May 31, 2016 UPDATE: “New conservative instinct to apologize for being right” needs to end NOW

Ezra LevantRebel Commander

Our Alberta Bureau Chief Sheila Gunn Reid tells me she thinks the suspension of Derek Fildebrandt from the Wildrose caucus is the symptom of a larger problem on the right.

I wonder if it was actually a sign that Brian Jean thinks Fildebrandt is angling for the leadership job.

Ezra, Sheila right on. Let’s move on there is lots of work to do.

If the wild roses listening the people are speaking here. They’ve had enough of inept, corrupt governments in Edmonton, we need action now.

Derek is very well spoken and would be an excellent leader. The WR got a shock when people like me cancelled their memberships immediately after this ridiculous decision!

Again, are we sure that this decision was made solely by Brian Jean? Or the Executive? Or Jean plus the Executive? But, I guess even so, as leader the buck would stop there. However, if it was a combined effort of Jean plus the Executive, then they all should go. The grassroots of the party should rise up and demand it.

Fildebrandt is back in caucus. Happened about two hours ago.

Conservatives should stop throwing Whites/Males/Anglophones under the bus by doing nothing to protect them from discrimination and hate from the “educated” left who stereotypes them all as “privileged”, “advantaged”

Quit apologizing for being the “White Guy” party and attack those who derogatory claim this a being as bigoted as claiming a party was the “black female” party.

Else, they will lose the vote they take for granted as these groups are waking up as Non-Whites/Women/Francophones did and no longer supported any party that allowed discrimination against them, even it it meant supporting a non-mainstream party or not voting at all.

Because they are less discriminatory than the other parties is what foolish Non-Whites/Women/Francophones used to voted based on, (usually Liberal) but woke up, and so are Whites/Males/Anglophones waking up and no longer voting conservative

Harper lost the election because he lose a significant percentage of the White Guy vote

I wanted Derek to be the leader of the WR too! I didn’t see Jean as being so shallow, and near sighted.

Briañ Jean must go, he has absolutely without a doubt done the wrong thing and his constant apologies are really ticking me off. I have said from the start, he was the wrong choice. We need someone like Derek Filderbrand to push ever so hard against this pure evil government of nutley.

About ten years ago, along with several other members of The Ontario Landowner’s Association, I sat in the Queen’s Park office with Very Senior members of the Ontario PC Party and various other Conservative MPs and advisors present. At issue was several pieces of " in the works " legislation by the McGuinty Government that seriously threatened the property rights of Rural Ontarians.

We had been plugging up 4-lane highways with tractor convoys and blockading the offices of the MNR and Conservation Authorities in response to the impending legislation, and we were putting pressure on the Conservative Opposition to do their part to generate headlines to garner public support.

Finally, there was an outburst from the interim party leader, almost tearful in its frustration, that exactly went like this: “What you gentlemen fail to understand is the incredible difficulties we have dealing with this Toronto media!” We couldn’t believe this outburst from a grown man, let alone a “leader”. There was an embarrassed silence.

Finally, one of our lads – a real estate agent from the Peterborough area – broke the silence and said, “Well, we don’t worry too much about the papers. We know that if we make real news, they damn well print it.”

As far as our “Conservative” parties go, it looks like nothing has changed. They still don’t know how to make real news…or they’re too yellow to try it.

Popularity means nothing.

Being right is more important, but being truthful means everything.

Brian Jean must go.

Trump has proven by his popularity that the last thing you should do is apologise for speaking truth.

Looking at the Wildrose party over the last few years It almost seems like it has been infested with saboteurs.

I hope Derek starts a real conservative party now. I would follow him for sure. I know of him when he was with the Canadian Tax Payer’s Federation. He’s well spoken and knows the issues. Jean lost my respect by this cowardly move. Real leaders don’t conform and try to fit in, or apologize for telling the truth!

We will never win any votes from the left or progressives (same thing?).
