I generally avoid the internet on April Fool’s day. It’s usually a quagmire of lame jokes by stiff politicians and poor attempts at humour by news agencies whose daily fawning over the Liberals seems more like a bad joke than any stunt they could pull today.
I saw a strange tweet by Natural Resources Minister Jim Carr go through my feed. At first, today being today and me being the skeptic I am, I thought it was a joke. But the tweet was real because Carr deleted it when I commented.
The tweet read: “7 minutes with your MP. If you had 7 minutes to speak with your MP what would you say?”
Then the tweet goes on to ask Carr’s constituents for their details and the topic they'd like to discuss. Is Carr looking to talk to constituents or speed date them?
If Carr wants to spend a productive seven minutes with Canadians, he should take his political speed dating routine on the road to Alberta communities who are waiting for his government to approve much needed pipelines.
