Thousands of country music fans were delighted when Garth Brooks flew into Hamilton to perform four sold-out concerts but not all were pleased when hundreds of Syrian refugees were temporarily displaced from their Hamilton hotel rooms to accommodate the Garth fans.
Concertgoers booked and paid for their hotel rooms before they were given to Syrian refugees back in January.
The progressive media were shocked by the temporary refugee reassignment. A typical response came from columnist Grant LeFleche in the St. Catharines Standard, who said:
“Don’t get your white hood in a knot. Being a white, Christian Canadian male is to be part of one of the most privileged demographics on Earth.”
I guess what he means with the KKK analogy is:
Garth Brooks is a country music artist and country music is the bailiwick of blue-collar rednecks, who are white trash and maybe even members of the Ku Klux Klan.
Would the Media Party have felt such outrage if the venue was booked by Al Gore or David Suzuki for a lecture on global warming or climate change or whatever they call it now?
Then the story would be the Syrians were relocated for the greater good, giving the climate rock stars a platform to change people’s behaviour to save the planet before flying back home on private chartered jets.
And, where was the Media Party outrage when Canadian soldiers and military personnel at CFB Kingston were told to clear their barracks last November to make room for Syrians?
Think about it. These weren’t just Canadian taxpayers but soldiers who have actually put their lives on the line fighting for Canada.
But you know, a lot of those soldiers are probably white rednecks too, just like those icky Garth Brooks fans in Hamilton.
To progressives, the "takers” are sacred cows and the “makers” are sacrificial cows.
