Syrian refugees unhappy with London’s hospitality: Canadian shawarma disappoints those fleeing “war torn area”?

Andrew LawtonRebel Commentator

A few days ago, The Rebel shared with you a story about a London, Ontario refugee family looking to go back to Syria because of their dissatisfaction of life in Canada.

It appears that family isn't alone.

A number of the 1,000 Syrian refugees that have resettled in London--a city of 380,000--have signed a letter to the city's primary resettlement agency, the London Cross Cultural Learner Centre, to complain about the way they've been treated.

The letter, signed by "The new Syrian community in London, ON," details a number of concerns the refugees have had with the entry to Canada.

They said the hotel had a "restaurant well-known for it's (sic) bad reputation and terrible service" and was "severely understaffed and could not accommodate to our numbers."

They also said that medical attention was only available quickly when there were emergency situations. Isn't that when you need quick medical attention?

In the letter, the refugees also charge that the food "was very bad and borderline unsuitable for human consumption."

According to a London Free Press article, the problem with the food, which was catered from a local restaurant, was that it was "Canadian Middle Eastern" food, rather than authentic Middle Eastern cuisine.

I have been unequivocal that Canadians have a moral duty to help those in need, but when people who have fled war-torn regions are complaining about the hotel housekeeping services, it seems petty and ungrateful.

The Cross Cultural Learner Centre has been dealing nearly full time with the refugee efforts, and any resource strain appears to be shared across the country as other cities have been forced to wonder whether too many refugees are being brought in too quickly.

Ramadan Bombathon 2016 Day number 14

Muslims often insist that other religions are just as violent as theirs and that the bigger problem is “Islamophobia”.
We put that narrative to the rest each Ramadan with a running count of ALL terror attacks categorized by motive.

Motive – Terror in the name of Islam………………..Attacks = 108….….Kills = 852
Motive – All other religions combined …………….Attacks = 0…………Kills = 0
Motive – By Islamophobes…………………………….Attacks = 0…………Kills = 0

Paul Smith: I can’t tell you how much I sympathize with your plight. It must frustrate/agonize you to death reading and hearing about the “Syrian” (who knows where they came from) migrants (not legitimate refugees) complaining about all the freebies we Canadians are paying through the nose for with hard-earned tax dollars, while you as a bona fide Canadian, on disability, are struggling on a daily basis to keep your head above water, so to speak. This current Liberal “government” (to use the term loosely) HAS TO GO!

Sounds a lot like the phony “Lebanese Canadian” evacuation taxpayers were forced to pay for a number of years ago. They felt they were an entitled class too!

I echo Robert Raymond’s remarks. Well said. Remember the Fort Hood shooting as well as the Orlando coming to you. Get ready.

Yeah, let them in without proper screening and they will disappear and form terrorist sleeper cells waiting for thei marching orders at a later date.
Immigrants coming to this country in the past had to prove that they were suitable candidates for admission to this country.
Now, you simply need to show that you are a Muslim.
Deal done!

Hyacinth, thanks for the info, “Syrian refugees will initially receive a temporary residence permit and only obtain a permit residency based on the results of further screening in Canada,” correct me if I’m wrong but didn’t this gov’t claim the refugees would be screened prior to being brought into Canada.
How can they guarantee our security and safety when they haven’t done their due diligence and these people are now in our country.

There is a large pool of people in this country that share the disgust of those born in Canada about all the “free stuff” being lavished on the Syrian “refugees”: previous immigrants. Ask the average cab driver, for example, what he thinks and you’ll get a blistering rant about how they weren’t given anything and had to earn everything themselves. Believe me, they resent the Syrians, who are being given EVERYTHING for free.

I don’t understand why politicians don’t tap into that to justify major changes in the Syrian “refugee” resettlement program.

Well I guess a free plane ride half way around the world, free transportation to and from airports, free clothing for all, free food, free temporary accommodations, free housing, free health care, free dental, free eye care and then given money to live on isn’t enough for these human pieces of garbage.

I would donate to a Bank Fund to help these abused people go back to the hell-hole that they created in Syria.

Who would have thunk it???? That the “wonderful” concept by Trudeau and the blithering idiot, John McCallum, of fast-pacing thousands of “refugees” (yah, right) would turn out to be such a debacle? It was obvious from day one.

“remember the vast majority of refugees did not come from camps ,rather they came from Jordan and Lebanon and were living in apartments and lots even had jobs "

Exactly. The real refugees, Christians, are left on their own and largely ignored by the UN and the officials that are involved in resettlement.

According to the UN they (the ones now in Canada) would not be initially granted permanent-resident status, if this is true then send them all back if they want to bite the hand that feeds them. Many low income Canadians would be thrilled to receive such free financial help (food, prescriptions, glasses, dental and so on.)

Take close note, from the London Free Press, a Canadian’s perspective and participation – how much her community is additionally aiding these people:

“My children go to a school where the majority of London Syrian kids have landed. My husband and I have personally dropped off furniture and clothes to their apartments. My child has come home telling me we need to help because they wear the same clothes everyday. A teacher organized a clothing drive. …. All of this for the Syrian kids alone. We did not have a bike rodeo for any other kids! "

“The UN High Commissioner for Refugees Antonio Guterres caused a stir Tuesday when he released a statement saying that Syrian asylum seekers arriving in Canada would not initially be granted permanent-resident status but instead arrive under a temporary sanctuary arrangement. (Mr. McCallum had also told The Globe and Mail earlier this week that some Syrians might be brought to Canada without being first granted permanent-resident status.) Mr. Guterres said on Tuesday that Syrian refugees “will initially receive a temporary residence permit,” and only obtain permanent residency based on the results of further screening in Canada.
Refugee groups have voiced anxiety about such an arrangement, saying they need to be assured that Syrians brought here will be allowed to remain here and that any children born here are Canadians.”

“Despite calls from religious leaders to respond to a genocide of Christians in the Middle East, Canada is not making any extra provisions for Christian refugees from Syria. “We are not focusing on any ethnic or religious minorities,” said Nancy Chan, a communications advisor for Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada in a Dec. 23 email."

My heart bleeds for them. I recently cut short my sight-seeing holiday in Aleppo for similar reasons.
The bullets and bombs were no problem, but it was just sooooooooooo hard to find a good pulled pork sandwich.

If the refugees are so pickie about their living accommodations, then maybe it is best that they go back.
