Texas rancher: Impact of fracking on his land is "minimal," while boosting local economy

Rebel Staff

Cattle rancher Mike Davidson of Big Spring, Texas talked to me about branching out by permitting drilling and fracking on his property.

Davidson says he loves the land and wouldn't have allowed fracking on his family's ranch if he believed it would harm the environment.

Fracking has also been a boon to the economy in a once-struggling region.

(As I noticed when we were talking, Davidson's cattle -- including a new calf -- don't seem bothered at all by the drilling!)

Thank you Ezra for these interviews from Texas. I have really enjoyed them and wish all Canadians would see this. Thanks also to all the REBELS for your amazing accomplishments in such a short time. I’m still sharing so your audience can grow with a little help from me.

I managed a community pasture in Alberta where we have been fracking for years and years, hell I think it was invented here. The economic benefits for the area where this community pasture was located due to drilling THEN fracking was incredible. We had a boom in the area during the high natural gas prices. In 5 years companies drilled some 600 wells on this 49 square mile tract of land. We were able to plow in 18 miles of water line to water livestock, we built and replaced 5 miles of fence every year, were able to purchase more land, so that more members were able to join helping more families in the area. We never had an issue with these practices of drilling or fracking, all the wells were minimal disturbance, meaning that in 1 growing season all that was on location was a well head and the cattle were grazing around them. I just wish most easterners could look at areas like this to dispel all these idiotic myths about " fracking " which is just a step to bring gas into their homes, sad sad sad

So how do we convince Canadians that this is good. Unlike America our mineral rights are different. Heck if I lived in a really windy place and was going to get paid a percentage from my wind generator, I say , well ya maybe okay. If a fracking company was paying me for a lease to frack on my property, I’d say hell ya. It is a little harder sell when 90 % of resource producing property is either owned by the crown or FN. in Canada. We will all benefit, but there is no doubt it is a harder sell in this country. Keep pushing Ezra it needs to happen. You are helping to alleviate the irrational environmental fears. Canadians could take a lesson from Texans regarding patriotism, for sure.

Looks a little windy in Texas. Nice to see the cattle roaming so freely and so tame. As for the interview, it was nice to hear this rancher’s story.

This rancher and the Texan couple Ezra interviewed earlier display a whole lot more patriotism than the average Canadian.

Excellent video. Thank you for shedding some light on the real effects of fracking oil and gas. Which seems to be growth and opportunity with little or no interuption in the environment. Something no other news source will report properly on. I feel better armed in any argument due to this informative video and will continue to research and influence those around me as best I can to they themselves be informed on something that touches on Canadian and American Economy, but even more than that, on morality as well. Thanks Rebel Staff.
