These 'lost photos' of Muslim women in the 60s and 70s will blow you away

Rebel Staff

There was a time where Middle Eastern women were free.

These 'lost photos' from Iran and Afghanistan show a happier time where women weren't veiled in niqabs and burkas from head to toe.

Even the men look happier.

It's a farcry from the Middle East we know today.

Parvin, I get the same shock when I speak bitterly about Canada. I love my country and wish its people would gain some common sense. Iran was once a world leader economically. Sad it is all gone.

I’m a pure Iranian though I don’t live in Iran. My heart bleeds for my country and what it’s become. A lot of times, people think I hate Iran because I speak so bitterly about it. The truth is, I love my country; I just don’t like what it’s become.

The change was signalled by the end of the Shah. The Iranian Revolution really was a pivotal historic moment. It was the moment the US first looked weak and groveling before Islam.

Before the world went regressive.

Iranians belong to fellow Indo-European family of cultures that stretches from Iceland to shri lanka. they have offered much to the world and have so much yet to offer, given their rich ancient culture and unique sophisticated world view. In fact during Roman times, Iranian speaking nations reached all the way to central Europe in their domain. It saddens me deeply to see them hostages and literally killed in thousands by a fringe cult within Islam.

Ian with you Stephen Hicken. You didn’t have a pack of Aholes stopping a yoga class because of what, cultural appropriation, you had governments that were interested in being competitive in the market, you still had some say in what went on in your neighbourhood, not waking up one morning to find a windmill in your backyard, taxes were reasonable leaving a person with disposable income to do things, you didn’t have to worry that your next door neighbour from the Middle East was going to blow you up and there was a 70 mile per hour speed limit on the 401, music was something that you could tap your toes to and remember the lyrics 40 years later, manufacturing was active and the summers were as hot as they are today.

Yes and well-educated they were too!

Yeah – islam has truly helped that country develop into what it is today.

Drew said, “Yet the progressives think they have progressed, i would actually call it regression.”

Well, an argument could be made that they are progressing towards a regressive lifestyle, I suppose.

Afghanistan used to be the same. Lots of photos on the internet to prove it. As was Lebanon.

Walking the streets of Damascus not many years ago it was common to see the ladies dressed as in the west.

And Assad protected the Christian enclaves.

The western backed rebels have pretty much killed them all off – those that they missed were probably taken down by isis.

The world is as it is and the media has a hand in it.

Born in 1950 the 60’s was my time growing up. Life was great and simple music changed and so did the way we dressed. We were much freer than people are today. You said things the way you saw them and there was no fear of politically correctness. or being called a racist for every little thing. You did your own thing and no one cared. Kind of wish the 60’s were here once again.

It’s kind of a saving grace: societies that live according to the seventh-century culture encoded in the Koran will always be poor and weak. This prevents them from becoming economically or militarily strong enough to export their culture directly by force as the Koran commands. It’s only the 18th century inventions of democracy and capitalism that allows a country to be wealthy and strong.
