Thug life, yo! Why would TTC's Raptors ad glorify graffiti... on subway cars?

I’m not much of a basketball fan though the Raptors are the talk of Hogtown these days. But I’m not talking about their game, but rather, about their glorification of graffiti.

I recently saw a promo that’s the result of a joint social media marketing campaign between the Raptors and the TTC and it struck me as a bit unwise.

It seems like the Raptors want to play on the edgy, urban, gangsta culture thing and the TTC went along with it but it doesn’t appear they’ve really thought this thing through.

Don’t be surprised if a Raptors fan tries to imitate art and tags an actual subway car in reality.

Idiots, Ive bin writing graffiti for 10 years I love doing it, its freedom of expression – isint that what the Rebel is all about and prisonplanet.com ?
Oh but I guess a little paint on a wall/train/ground whatever is deemed criminal. Graffiti is never gonna go away, deal with it, we do it for the thrill and seeing our pieces/tags/bombs etc in other cities by other writers and so on is an amazing feeling. Its fame, its talent, its artistic Im not limited to a canvas to me that represents boring, predictable and being controlled. Ill stick to the illegal stuff, no body tells me what to do.

Kurt Andrews commented – "It’s been over 20 years of this gangsta crap. It has led to murders, illiteracy and glorification of stupidity, bad fashion, and the most mind-numbing music that has ever been produced. Isn’t it time to admit it has been an absolute failure and move on? "

Kurt – it (gangster/rap culture) produced the exact result expected; it has enslaved generations of inner city youth in an endless lethal cycle of tribal violence, drugs, crime and broken families – it has kept this underclass centralized and contained and restricted in movement out of its government subsidized ghetto of the very subculture white ruling class liberals exploit politically, economically and culturally.

It’s worked like a charm for the real race haters in the political elite – welfare state entitlement and “progressive tolerance” of ethnic ghettos, crime, drugs, and the art form which glorifies it, has made gangsta culture its own self-actuated eugenics program.

I don’t think the Raptors organization is trying to glorify graffiti. I believe I have seen graffiti in videos related skateboarding and extreme biking and the likes. They could have used something else instead of graffiti for this ad, but I don’t really think there’s any cause for alarm with regards to this ad. I am a Raptors fan and I would rather buy Raptors merchandise to support my only Canadian NBA team than paint a train with graffiti.

Just my 2 cents.

People who exploit vulnerabilities should be rewarded appropriately for their attitudes and actions.
I suggest a return to capital punishment! Some likely candidates:
Politicians who betray their constituents and country.
Crony-capitalist corporate leaders who betray…well, everything moral.
School board ‘leaders’ responsible for the dumbing down and corruption of our children.
Likewise child molesters.
Rapists.
Terrorists.
Litterers.
Vandals. Graffiti thugs are vandals – I see no artistic merit in vandalism. It’s criminal.
When you throw away your humanity by committing heinous and despicable acts, like those mentioned above, among others, you also throw away your own right to be treated humanely! Cause and effect.
C’mon, Giuliani’s ‘broken windows theory’ works doesn’t it.
We need to stop pandering to the degenerates, the criminals, the freaks, the delusional and the traitors who are running our country…into the ground!
Desperate times calls for desperate measures and if you don’t realise how desperate time are, then you are part of the problem!

I’ll never forgive that rotten genre from ruining the last few Run DMC albums.

I’ve never been to New York City but, as I understand it, graffiti-festooned subways cars pretty much came to an end in the 90s when the bought hundreds of new subway cars (from Bombardier) that had a special coating that makes tagging all but impossible. Perhaps the TTC is hoping to encourage graffiti on their cars so that popular revulsion gives them the excuse to buy a whole new fleet of subway cars that have the same special coating?

As for “broken windows” policing, the current mayor of New York, Bill de Blasio, a man of the Left, is making every effort to stop the most effective tools the NYPD have, including stop and frisk. Naturally, our own virtue-signalling elites have done the same in Ontario by ending carding, our local equivalent to stop-and-frisk. Every politician claims to care about the public and to oppose crime yet it’s remarkable how the leftists like De Blasio and Wynne inevitably find reasons to hamstring the police in using techniques that actually work.

It’s obvious the B-ball corporate spin dogs are playing the race card equating B-ball with black inner city gangsta bad boy culture. I think it degrades a sport which was invented in Canada as a varsity culture athletic pursuit of excellence and NON_VIOLENT sport – which could be played indoors in our 8 months of snow climate.

How the sport has devolved – like the culture promoting it.
