US speeding weapons deliveries to Saudi-led Yemen coalition

Rebel Staff

AP reports that the United States is speeding up the delivery of weapons to the Saudi-led coalition launching airstrikes against Shiite rebels in Yemen.

Deputy Secretary of State Antony Blinken made the announcement to reporters in Riyadh on Tuesday, adding that the U.S. is committed to defending Saudi Arabia.

The announcement came after Blinken met with Saudi royals and Yemen's President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi, who fled his country due to Houthi rebel advances.

The fighting in Yemen pits Hadi and his allies against the Houthis and military units loyal to former President Ali Abdullah Saleh. As reported by AP, "Shiite powerhouse Iran supports the Houthis but denies arming them."

The Saudi-led air campaign began on March 25 but has so far failed to stop the Houthis' advance on Aden, Yemen's second-largest city. Hadi had declared Aden the provisional capital before he fled to Saudi Arabia.

Wait just a minute! That idiot in the white house wants to supply weapons to the richest family in the world to fight a country that they are in nuclear talks with hmmmm. Yet they can’t afford to send a single bullet to the peshmerga forces to fight Isis. This is insane. I say let Saudi and Iran get into a battle royal and let God sort it out. Maybe it will force Iran to actually commit itself to a real war instead of all this proxy stuff that they like to do all over the region

This is what it looks like from the good guys point of view. This should be uploaded to every terrorist site so the can see what happens when they mess with a real military.

I suppose, technically, the Russians are arming the Houthies. We need to remember the Saudis are not our friends; maybe the lesser of two evils in the current conflict. And that neither are the Iranian people our enemies. And that Iran is, in turn, a proxy for Russia.

Nice of the US to offer multi-billions in weapons to one of the richest countries on earth, well the family is anyway. They should be paying the US for the hardware.

Arm them to the teeth and keep the fighting over there. It is high time that the Saudis had some ‘skin in the game’.
