Vancouver School Board responds to FOI request with $20K price tag! What are they hiding?

About ten days ago, BC Education Minister Mike Bernier dismissed the Vancouver School Board on the basis of their failure to achieve a balanced budget, but there have been allegations that board members were creating a toxic workplace environment.

The BC School Superintendents Association described it in a letter to the Ministry of Education as a work environment that “creates a toxicity which fosters fear.”

Worksafebc launched an investigation into claims that it was the elected school board members who were alleged to have bullied senior management staff to the extent that some had to take medical leave.

With so allegations and claims of bullying I wanted to find out more so I filed a Freedom of Information request with the Vancouver School Board.

As I worked with the FOI co-ordinator on narrowing down the search, everything came to a screeching halt when he wrote back to inform me that the price tag for the information would be $20,000!

Twenty grand for an FOI request? What are they hiding?

We can’t pay $20K to the Vancouver School Board for our FOI request, and I’m not going to ask you to chip in anything this time either. The cost is just too outrageous.

Watch as I explain how it all happened and what we at The Rebel are going to do about it.

Is there a process for reviewing cost? Can one take it to court to demand the documents? I don’t see why we have to pay anything. The bureaucrats are already getting paid by us through our taxes. They’re just doing what we already pay them for no?

It seems “Freedom of Information” is not so free. Is it legal to charge for this?

It all comes from the top down,Sunny ways, only a fool would believe it.

FOI is the biggest farce ever. The government has discovered a way how to screw the public and not be held accountable. You get the exact government you vote for.

No surprise… Ever since the hippy/flower child 60s, school boards across Canada have been the “training camp” means to getting lefties elected across Canada… Once having been elected to local school boards, the members have moved on to municipal elections, provincial elections and of course federal elections… That school boards should be reluctant to expose the politically correct toxic brew that guides almost all of them – Christian school boards being the exception – it is no wonder that any means they can create to throw up to exposing any chink in this Berlin Wall of Thought, is fair game…

Stick to your guns Christopher. because they’ve gotta have some dirty little secret hiding in the bushes somewhere. Looks like Mafia tactics to me.

There are a couple of stories here, turn up the heat Christopher. It amazes me that these guys don’t realize that when they they dig their heels in this way its just like waving a red flag in front of a bull. What are they hiding is right and do they really believe we will go away. What the hell is going on with the Van school board, and when is it going to be illegal to attempt to silence those submitting a FOI with a ridiculous fee, in hopes they will go away. Not acceptable. Who do they think they work for anyway!

Freedom of information is not free..!!

Shows that freedom of information is the same as freedom of speech, religion and conscience…TOTALLY NON-EXISTENT.

There should be a set fee. This is just blatant censorship. These losers are paid by the public, so they should cough up the documents that the tax payers have already paid for.

I surmise this is another form of censorship to keep we Canadians in the dark with regard to the fallout from mass importation of sub human neanderthals intent on invading, slaughtering and conquering us all. sadly we have a extremist , pro terrorist , pro sharia muslim leading us with a cabinet full of extremist muslims advising him on how to turn our country and us into a third world islamic war torn hell hole! We just as every other western nation on the planet are at war for our lives, cultures , relgions, freedoms and countries and all against Islam which with full aid of each and every government/leader/politician, court ,media and so on is taking over all of us and we the people are doing nothing to stop it as we continue to WORK AND PAY FOR NOT ONLY OUR TREASONOUS POLITICIANS /GOVERNMENTS BUT THESE THUGS AS WELL!! ARE WE ALL SICK OF LIVING?? DO WE ALL EAGERLY AWAIT THE SLAUGHTER, RAPES, BEATINGS, BEHEADINGS AND SO ON ALL COMING OUR WAY

If that’s what it costs, it shows exactly how efficient they are, then they are surprised when they cannot live within budget??

SD76 in Alberta wanted $25 for initial request, and $75 an hour after that. With no indication on how long, or how much time they would ‘spend’ on it.
School Districts think they are above the law.
