WATCH: Is government ever big enough for liberals?

Rebel Staff

A new video by Prager U asks, "Is government ever big enough" for liberals?

Anyone who lives in Ontario should know the answer to that.

“Can our republic govern itself on [the Liberal basis that we need more government] and should it?” asks William Voegeli in the video. “My answers are 'maybe' and 'no'.”

The video description asks can the government ever be too big? How much spending is enough spending? And if there can be too much spending, where is that point?

Check out this video.

The only thing that stops big government socialism is running out of other peoples money. Just look at the U.K.

An perfect explanation on the difference between the right and left. I can’t understand why those on the left cannot see that the socialist experimentation of big government in Europe has failed and if we continue on that same path we will be in the same situation. Simple math tells you that if a government gives out more than it brings in it will eventually go bankrupt. I am afraid this will have to happen before those on the left wake up and notice there is nothing left to take.

Jack, even Harper didn’t fall for the “idea of stimulus”. He was dead set against it. However, he caved in when the 2008 coalition threatened to overthrow the government if he did not spend on economic stimulus.

And even though In as a Conservative did not like it when he gave in to stimulus spending to save his government, I later came to be thankful he did because a that 2008 coalition of the stupid would have destroyed Canada, or at best would have got nothing done due to internal struggles for power.

I would also criticize conservatives and moderates who fall for the idea of “stimulus”. If stimulus really does produce greater economic benefits that it costs, should the sky be the limit? So how much should we spend on arts and culture, if by rote, supporters say each $1.00 spent creates $1.25 in economic activity? 10 million? 100 million? I mean why stop? If there was an investment that guaranteed me a 25% return I would re-mortgage my house and get my hands on as much liquidity as possible.

As soon as we conceded that government should take a role in private business, we shouldn’t be surprised where that has taken us decades later.
