Watch Jane Fonda stumble when asked how she got to anti-oilsands protest -- then lie about living in a solar powered house

Rebel Staff

No surprise really: Jane Fonda spoke at that big anti-oil sands and anti-pipeline demonstration in Toronto -- but left before the march because she "had to catch a flight."

Like so many "green" celebrities, she pretends not to see the disconnect between her "environmentalist" rhetoric and her actions.

Before that, she went to Vancouver to bad mouth the energy industry that makes her lifestyle possible.

The Rebel's volunteer camera crew was on the scene and confronted her with some pointed questions.

Watch her confused reaction -- which includes a big fib.

Have any of this anti-oil commie hypocrites come up with a bright idea of how to replace fossil fuels yet? I didn’t think so. It is easy to live comfortably of the avails of what’s offered by a civilized society or of the avails of a huge fortune and on the other hand chastise the ones who you would like they consumed less or not at all! Just stay home and shut your yaps, you Hollywood socialists! And keep your idol in the White House home too. We definitely don’t need you to tell us how to live our lives.

I was at the Ottawa Civic Hospital today and tried to read this story using their TOH Guest site and was denied access to this Jane Fonda story by the server there? I could get to other stories on the Rebel but not Jane? Very strange.

She should have been shot as a traitor to the US

Jane like her ex-husband ole Teddy Turner, both saw the world through marxist lenses.
Remember in the 80s when ole Ted went to the Soviet Union and wrote glowing reports at how successful they were?
I had a friend who was there at the same time, said the stores were mostly empty, and you had to line up every morning for bread and meat. Of course the “Party” stores looked just like Loblaws in TO . . . the tourists were allowed in the “Party” store, they needed the money !

Greg posted,"Search her activities during the vietnam war! Her nick name was Hanoi Fonda, she was labelled a traitor, while visiting POW’s they slipped her notes to let their families know they are alive, Fonda turned the letters over to the enemy leading to prisoners being brutally beaten "

I didn’t know she had done that. That is pretty horrible.

I wonder if the Lucille’s are reading any of these posts. There is a lot of common sense and good information here.

Lucille – a few unfortunate truths;

Solar and wind power are not competitive. Without massive subsidies they would not even be in the energy picture. These massive subsidies are the reason that energy prices have risen out of control in Ontario, and in the end are the producers of the exported power that we send to the U.S. AT BELOW PRODUCTION COST!

All-electric cars have no useful heaters. Yes some have heaters but they draw so much power from the batteries that they reduce the maximum cruising range by over 50%. Without the ability to heat the passenger cab during the winter or cool it during the summer, all-electric cars are reduced from being a useful alternative to being a very expensive toy and conversation starter. So called electric-assist cars ( cars with an engine and an electric system) when used in hot or cold climates, end up being underpowered oil powered cars as the owners are forced to run the gas engines for heat in the winter and cooling in the summer, making them part time electric novelty cars. Furthermore, it has been proven time and again by studies conducted by independent parties that all-electric and electric-assist cars ( like the vaunted Prius) produce far more pollution, cradle to grave, than oil powered vehicles.

I am afraid that, unless you can change the basic laws of physics, your dream that “One day solar , wind and water wave energy will be the norm.” belongs in the land of Hobbits, trolls and unicorns.

Lucille – in your first post you missed something important. It’s not that solar, and wind, and tidal energy have never been used. For most of humanity’s existence they were the only forms of power available other than the sweat off your brow. The reasons that our ancestors moved on is that they weren’t dependable or strong enough. Survival in cold places means you need heat. Survival in hot places means you need ways to keep cool. Survival in dark places mean you need light. The reason that the ancients made gods out of extreme weather is that extreme weather killed so many of them. This year there have been two hailstorms in Calgary. I haven’t heard of a single person killed by them, even though the balls of ice were bigger than golf balls. Houses and cars keep people safe from the elements, but need a lot of energy to assemble and keep in a liveable state.

Electric cars are over 100 years old. The same battery and charging problems that keep many of us from adopting them now were encountered 100 years ago. Coal/steam, wood burning, turbine, fan driven… they were all tried. Gasoline won because it gave the most power per measure of power volume that could be carried with the engine. They were hailed as a technological marvel: no longer would there be 200,000 gallons of urine and 10,000 pounds of horse poop added to the streets of New York city every day. The streets were cleaner, and the public health benefits of not breathing powdered dung all day long were tremendous. Instead, the smoke produced by car engines would we wafted away with every breeze. You could make the argument that there are so many cars now that it can’t all be wafted away, but city air in the free and rich nations is cleaner than similar populations have had in all of recorded history. Lighting was a similar marvel, the advent of electric lights meant that the demand for clean burning oil (for oil lamps) went down. Which is turn meant that whale hunting could voluntarily be phased out. Would you rather we go back to hunting whales to get oil Lucille?

I think I have a good compromise for you: would it be beneficial to have a want to concentrate hundreds or thousands of years worth of solar energy that can be used in the matter of a day or two? It would help to restore the atmosphere to how it was during the times of greatest eco-diversity. It would not involve leveling present-day forests to grow monoculture crops for conversion to fuel, nor shading the desert and changing the eco-system there. It’s called coal. Paleo-solar energy captured by plants, compressed by the earth. The atmosphere is radically different now from from modern coal beds were laid down, many plants were near CO2 starvation before we started restoring the atmosphere to more livable levels for them. In many places there’s enough accumulated methane, ethane, and butane with the coal that it can be captured and used instead (we call it natural gas). We can keep the power plants out of the main cities, and transport the power there by wires. History has shown us that it is the most efficient way to provide energy to our cities. It’s either that, or have a massive die-off of people when the power goes off. Most of us here do not want a massive die-off.

Oil is a natural product folks…what is all the fuss about? CO2 is a natural product…the earth can handle this quite well, it helps plants grow…we are being fed bad science. Solar panels are made of Photovoltaic modules that are made from a witch’s brew of toxic chemicals: Arsenic, cadmium telluride, hexafluoroethane, lead, and polyvinyl fluoride are just some of the chemicals used to manufacture various types of solar cells. And Wind turbines kill between 214,000 and 368,000 birds annually, like critically endangered species…the albatross and the eagle…and many others…we need the oil sands unless we want to become a third world country…either start living in tents or leave off protesting our important enterprises that pay our way…

Search her activities during the vietnam war! Ya, lots of faith in her opinion!

You picked a fine time Lucille . . . “One day solar , wind and water wave energy will be the norm.” ? ? ?
How do you fly to Alberta then to protest the Oil Sands?
Ole Jane inherited most of her wealth from her Dad . . . who could ACT ! ! !
Jane is a far-left, some say marxist fruitcake . . . still remember her tour of Hanoi back in the day.

Ayaya, truly, Fonda is the protector of the environment, unbelievable!
I always wonder about these saviours of the environment.. They pretend under the guise of protectors.,advocates while they themselves confuse us not telling their hidden agenda. We Canadians are better advocates for own environment and don’t need to stand up or put up with such nonsense. They dine with the BIGEST OIL PRODUCERS and scream at us without a just cause.
commented 2015-07-20 15:01:16 -0400
Agenda is clear: stop oil extraction now and preserve it till first nations bands get their 100s of “free” fiefdoms and get “immigrants CANADA” dismantled so that then they can sell those resources and live lives of GCC sheikhs. But why are the damn immigrants falling in this trap?

Catch a flight? CATCH A DAMN FLIGHT?? The stupid old cow absolutely HAS to be kidding. She would be a little more relevant if she walked across Canada wearing wooden shoes she carved herself using a stone tool. I wonder how much she and gore were paid?
commented 2015-07-20 14:07:42 -0400
Someday in the future, when the eco-lefties have convinced us all that we can no longer use our own oil, there will still be a market for the resource. We will sell it all to China so that they can use it to produce goods and energy more cheaply than we can and undermine our economy. This is what we have done with coal for the right to brag that we no longer burn it to produce electricity. Hooray! What a difference we have made by allowing our coal to be burned in China instead of dirtying our own corner of the atmosphere!

Jane Fonda is just a two bit actress who is so old that she can’t get any OTHER parts anymore (not a real actress like Judy Dench)…so she does THIS LAST DITCH ACTING JOB …and can’t go off script…because all she knows is the part she has been given…she absolutely didn’t know what OPEC was…her ignorance was hilarious…she really looked like a fool protesting something she has no KNOWLEDGE about…it was B acting…why isn’t she vilified like Sarah Palin? Oh, yeah, because the left owns the media.

To the boys who still admire the FACE, of course she LOOKS good…that is what she gets paid to do…we could all look that good if we had the money to afford at least three homes, and private jets , the best plastic surgeons, a personal trainer, her father’s good name, but WORST OF ALL, full time commitment to self interest, etc….

I love Harper and how he has kept our economy on the straight and narrow…and am fearful of having the big spenders in Ottawa like Mulcair and Trudeau… I alway prefer someone who keeps the bank book in the black…we cannot afford to go back into the red again with the communist/socialist politicians. (like in Ontario)…and we cannot afford Liberal and NDP politicians who are against Canadians having jobs, like the oil sands.

Oil is a natural product folks…what is all the fuss about? CO2 is a natural product…the earth can handle this quite well, it helps plants grow…we are being fed bad science. Lucille, what province do you reside in? Which province in your opinion will be the most economically sound and prosperous for its residents , say by next year this time?

Lucille says,“the OIL industry and the world Elite governments block progress by continuing to dig into the earth for that stinky oil gunk to make enormous profit for themselves at the expense of the environment”

You are partly right, if you are talking about CONFLICT oil, from CONFLICT countries.
Their environmental standards, safety and remediation are not as strict as we demand ours to be in Canada. Also the citizens don’t see the benefits from oil extracted in these conflict countries, as most is spent on filling pockets and attacking other countries.
Our government here in Canada(in case you are from somewhere else Lucille) uses the royalties they receive, to build and strengthen our country for all of its citizens. It is how we pay for a large part of our transfer payments to the provinces who don’t have the natural resource base or manufacturing capabilities,( or Provincial leadership to keep industries from leaving and who refuse to approve oil, gas, and mining projects, all the while happy to receive oil and gas money from the producing provinces, through transfer/equalization payments.)

Harper is not a dictator, he is trying to have the country keep some upward momentum, in the face of many obstacles. What you say has absolutely no basis in reality or truth. I am and always have been extremely proud of our resource rich country, and all that it provides.

Harper is a dictator who is selling off Canada to the highest bidder. Jane is on the good side of life. We love planet earth.

Lucille Clarke.
What the story invoked was the hypocrisy of these so called environmental celebrities. Take your own look at her properties and tell me again she is for or against the oil industry. Yes she says she is, but her lifestyle says otherwise! Please take a look, I dare you! Also you pretend to notice that is the oil companies have that much power, who do you explain the electric cars we have now? Also explain to me how we are to survive as a race if we were to get ride of fossil fuels to power our industry and homes? That technology doesn’t exist that’s why here in Ontario. Windmills and solar have not replaced coal, it was replaced by natural gas plants. So do yourself a service and look for and read what is happening in the world and stop reading your environmental papers they most are lies after lies. Like the one that said that 50% of Germany ’ s power comes from solar alone! It’s all lies if you care to do some research!!!!
commented 2015-07-20 12:42:58 -0400
Funny how I just looked up just one of her properties and looked at areal footage. I never saw on windmill and or solar panels. The other site I went to, to look at her other properties has been blocked somehow. I wonder why!?

While viewing this, it struck me that Jane Fonda is not particularly bright. It appeared she did not understand the OPEC reference. I noted when she spoke in Ontario recently how inept she was in her expression and understanding of " her cause". God help her and the fools who follow her. They are either equally ignorant or charmed by celebrity.
commented 2015-07-20 12:02:41 -0400
Lucille Clarke, in the world of rainbows and unicorns that might work. The alternative sources of energy you mention have their short comings and you still need resources from the earth to manufacture them. I am curious of what type technology did you use to post your comment and tell us what materials that piece of technology is made from. Unless I misinterpreted your comment as a form of sarcasm?
commented 2015-07-20 11:15:39 -0400
The reason people still use gas and oil is because the OIL industry and the world Elite governments block progress by continuing to dig into the earth for that stinky oil gunk to make enormous profit for themselves at the expense of the environment. Jane is a brilliant actress and earned her wealth fairly. Good actors can make a good wage. She also shares her wealth. One day solar , wind and water wave energy will be the norm. Until then we need all the people we can get to battle this huge and corrupt business of Oil that keeps people dependent on it. We all want clean! energy. Solar panels are attractive tboot. And so is Jane ! Power to Jane Fonda and a big thank you! from this grateful Canadian.

Prince Knight – She is doing it for her country, to protect their oil industry. So much for fee trade, it only seems to apply when the American’s want something from us. And really if we all had access to plastic surgeons, and all the trimmings of the elite, we would all look as good. Too bad, she is a complete hypocrite. I don’t see her protesting Obama’s terrorist oil friends.

I thought that Hanoi Jane was dead. Oh that’s right. It was her career that died, the body lurches on.
Hanoi Jane has always been a fool and the crazies that lead the charge in the anti-oil fight should be aware of her history of lying and understand that employing the likes of this walking cadaver only damages their public presentation of the fantasy world of socialist, anti-west politics that they are intent on foisting on the rest of us.
