What are Canadian environmental "charities" suddenly so afraid of?

Eighteen lobby groups in Canada are suddenly afraid of losing their charitable status. And they should be.

These left-wing and environmental groups aren't real charities, of course. Real charities don't target Canada's oil sands.

Our old friend David Suzuki has benefited more than most.

His foundation processes more than $9 million a year through its charitable status.

Yet its website has a campaign taking sides in an upcoming British Columbia referendum on a transit tax hike.

To call that "charitable" is stretching the meaning of the word too far:
