The Toronto "Red" Star is showing their true colours when it comes to terrorism and will no longer allow the names ISIS, ISL or Islamic State to be used in their publications.
From now on the Star, and I assume their many media affiliates, will call the world’s most barbarous terrorist group Daesh. Why?
The long answer is convoluted nonsense which The Star explained in a story that some poor journalist had to write because her bosses made her.
It includes the claim that they’re doing this because calling ISIS “Daesh” is an insult to them. If we believe their stated motivations, this means Michael Cooke and company down at One Yonge Street in Toronto are brave for boldly insulting the terrorist scum.
Insulting people that likely won’t read it, sounds like a stretch and I’m not buying it.
The short answer is they’re snivelling cowards driven by political correctness and a false sense of superiority.
This name change will soon be taken up by the Trudeau government since their official paper of record has told them what to do. I reject it because I believe in plain language and believe in taking someone at their word when they tell you who they are.
ISIS, particularly ISIL, are names that in English tell us what these guys claim to be - the new caliphate. Their name tells us they want most of the Middle East and parts of North Africa and tells us why. It tells us they want to impose their brand of Islam on us.
They are committing these barbaric acts as soldiers of Allah.
What the Toronto Star, John Kerry and other English speaking politicians that call them Daesh are doing is trying to hide the truth.
I understand wanting to talk down and belittle the enemy but we also need to be clear about who the enemy is and by changing their name, the Star isn’t really trying to mock ISIS, they’re trying to hide the truth.
Shame on them.
