Would James Lunney still be in caucus if he were Sikh or Muslim?

Brian LilleyRebel Co-Founder

A Conservative MP has decided he will be a Conservative no more and will sit as an independent so that he can speak more freely on his faith.

James Lunney says the media and partisan politics are forcing him to step outside of the Conservative Caucus so that his religious beliefs and views on the world don't negatively impact his colleagues.

Would this happen to MPs of other faiths?

Are Canadian politicians are as open and inclusive as they claim?

To comment on Liza’s comment sitting out is always helpful. At the last election I knew the Conservative candidate and he was a wife beater. How could I vote for him? In the end he won by only a handful of votes so my vote could have made a difference. I could never vote Liberal as PET was a racist and his party follows in his tracks. The NDP are socialists so no go there.

so Lunney says he believes in creation – he is out: another guy says he believes in evolution and he gets a cabinet post. Hmm seems tolerant , equal and fair to me :(

sorry, I meant Ken Conrad… very interesting comment.

Folks, if you haven’t seen the film: “Expelled-No intelligence allowed” the film (DVD) you have missed a great experience.

Expelled is a brilliant, intoxicating and exciting film that WILL NOT BORE ANYONE, SO unique is its format, and it compares the bigotry of “so-called” evolutionists (evolutionary BELIEVERS, in fact) who currently act like dictators over the minds of other scientists, who do not agree with them, with dangerous predecessors we will recognize. These fundamentalist evolutionists have moved mountains to make sure non-evolutionists (with PhD’s) lose their jobs, some after 20-30 years, for not agreeing with every jot and tittle of evolutionary BELIEF. The artistic techniques used in this film are deliciously brilliant…but the facts exposed are a travesty and show that modern evolutionists are not only unscientific,(their theory is failing the facts) but they also are strong believers in a “faith” they call evolution. “Science” that is not able to prove its view is not actually true science, but pure speculation, but you would never know this from these TRUE BELIEVERS IN EVOLUTION. Only as the facts support such theories are they accepted, unless a group uses political force to keep the opposing view silenced, as evolutionists do today. As the ground moves under their dying theory evolutionists are becoming so frantic that they use ridicule and anything they can grasp to try to destroy real scientists who oppose them. Real scientists do not close their minds to opposing views without examining them. Sadly most people never look at the issue of evolution versus creation FROM BOTH SIDES. Most people who mock creationists have never even dared to examine their arguments and don’t realize that a whole body of brilliant, practicing PhD scientists, from accredited universities, are among the creationists. Only those who examine all sides of an issue are honest and actual scientists. The mockers are not in that group.

Maurice Potvin: “True tolerance allows for differing views to have equal right to exist without fear of condemnation, or the threat of violence.” I agree, on paper, BUT the reality is that if a group opposes true tolerance with intolerance, violence and massive sexual reproduction , then true tolerance may become EXTINCT! This is the problem today with increasing immigration of those who are both violent, intolerant and reproducing at rates that are making our ideas extinct. Demographics show us that Islam will rule the world soon despite our desire for tolerance (unless it wipes itself off the map or God intervenes)
Peter Babich: interesting comment!!!

Peter Babich,

That very question may have been on the mind of Dr Francis Crick, professor at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies and who received a Nobel Prize for discovering the structure of DNA when he suggested that, “To avoid damage…the microorganisms…traveled in the head of an unmanned spaceship sent to earth by a higher civilization which had developed elsewhere some billions of years ago…Life started here when these organisms were dropped into the primitive ocean…We called our idea Directed Panspermia.”

A New York Times article on July 29, 2004 following Dr, Cricks death suggested, “With “Directed Panspermia,” he prepared, in effect, an intellectual escape hatch, an alternative explanation for life should scientists in fact find it too hard to account plausibly for the remarkably rapid emergence of Earth’s first life forms.”

Indeed why would a scientist of Crick’s credentials need an “intellectual escape hatch”? What happened to the billions of years necessary for macroevolution?

The basis for his proposal above can be best described by Dr. Crick himself with these two statements where he suggested, “An honest man, armed with all the knowledge available to us now, could only state that, in some sense, the origin of life appears at the moment to be almost a miracle"… “Every time I write a paper on the origin of life, I determine I will never write another one, because there is too much speculation running after too few facts.”

My question on the evolution theory is " Why did the apes stop evolving?" Doesn’t make sense

Ya, sitting out on elections is always helpful.
I agree Maurice, true tolerance allows for differing views.
It sounds like he chose to step away. The conservatives didn’t tell him to go. And if that is the case I don’t see why he did.

This proves that there is no difference between any of the parties. The Conservatives are no better than the rest. Foul mouthed, evolutionist, blasphemers many of them. I will sit out the next election as there is no real choice. Thank you for the report Brian. Good work as per usual.

I guess starving the anti conservative, anti Christian, extremists in the media party of fresh fodder for their outlandish propaganda is politically astute and a good strategy. It is a pity our fellow citizens with honestly held diverse viewpoints on any given subject cannot speak to issues and receive a polite non partisan hearing.

Bravo to Conservative MP James Lunney, not allowing himself to be cowered and bullied into politically-correct thinking! A rarity these days.
Milam and Warren, the kind of politically-correct thinking you refer to is very understandable considering the kind of stuff taught in universities these days, namely, the supposed “Web of Oppression” which underlies the contemporary thrust of social policies among ‘progressives’:
The closer you are to and the more of the attributes you have at the center, the more you are seen as an ‘oppressor’.

@ Warren Wade – “If you’re a white male christian, this society has no place for you.”
Yes, it does, as the men (and women) who pay the bills. But once you’ve done that, just shut up.

You know your’re in trouble when political correctness trumps moral virtue.

Lunney is a man, to say he manned up,he took one for the team , incredible nobody in his party couldn’t man up and stand beside him. He’ll never get a fair shot from msm, that’s a given because God forbid if you stand on your Christian principles in politics you’re a target of ridicule unlike other more it seems “fashionable” religions like Islam. I Think that the msm and liberal, ndp and even the greens will eventually have us evolve into a “tribe” type mentality that we will migrate to same thinking areas in this country and around the world the division between these “tribes” will become so great that it will turn into tribal scirmishes everywhere we see this happening now with those stone chuckers in the middle east

It’s very unfortunate that he felt he had to leave his party in order to remain true to his moral principles. I definitely agree with his sentiment that we all must have full freedom of religion, conscience, belief, opinion and expression, as clearly defined in the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. These rights and freedoms don’t disappear once you become a Member of Parliament. There seems to be a lot of confusion about the meaning of the word “tolerance” in mainstream media, and there always has been. This multi-cultural society we live in has come to interpret the word “tolerance” as meaning never saying that someone else’s views are wrong, as long as those views are considered “progressive”. However, that entire politically correct notion of tolerance is wrong. The very concept of the word “tolerance” contains within it the notion of disagreement. Although I was never a big fan of Voltaire, when he said “I may not agree with what you say but I will defend to the death your right to say it”, he nailed it! That is precisely the definition of tolerance. Where there is no disagreement, tolerance is irrelevant and therefore nonexistent. Believing and stating that another person’s beliefs are false is not intolerant. In fact disagreement is absolutely essential for an atmosphere of tolerance to exist. Without it tolerance is a non-issue. True tolerance allows for differing views to have equal right to exist without fear of condemnation, or the threat of violence. Therefore, one can be truly tolerant without accepting another person’s beliefs as being true. This should apply for Members of Parliament of all political stripes, as long as it doesn’t involve a vote critical on the Party’s platform issues. However, I believe most of us vote for the Party, not the candidate. Therefore, I don’t believe any sitting member should have the right to leave the party they were elected to, without having to resign and run in a by-election. I realize this case is not the same as Danielle Smith, who crossed floor for personal gain. James Lunney may have left the Party as a selfless act to protect his colleges, but it’s still a principle that I believe is generally true.

Normally Lunney could stay.
But the lefty MSM amplifies and distorts anything out the Conservative party.

Harper has to stay away from controversy. Stoner and his band of liberals are still a threat.

Can’t wait for the videos of Stoner saying and doing stupid shit in the Conservative disclosure ads. They are hilarious. Stoner rolling down the stairs while his buddy filmed it – that’s just the best. Stupid Stoner trudeau.

Consider the following article’s slant on Indiana’s Religion Freedom law,

“Bigotry is totally acceptable in America, according to the leftist media, as long as that bigotry targets the “correct” groups of minorities.”
The truth in a nutshell!!!
“Sauron is not evil because he wears black armor. Sauron is not evil because he is warlike. Sauron is the embodiment of evil because all of his strength and power is deployed to bend every living creature to his will.”

Very good report, Brian. Most evolutionists do not understand what the word “theory” means. They believe because some high profile figure believes or has written a book, then the theory is a fact. They should try to answer scientifically the question: From where is matter originate? If they are honest, they have to admit they believe the theory of evolution on the basis of faith!

Warren Wade…..I wish I kept a clip from the newspaper from the early 90’s – an ad for the City of Hamilton Fire Department…..at the bottom of the ad, it said “straight while men will be placed at a lower priority”. At the time, I was younger and didn’t think much of it….astounding, huh? Now substitute “white” with ANY other group and 5 alarms would be going off.
commented 2015-04-01 11:29:10 -0400
As long as it suits their politically correct agenda I suppose they are. Heaven forbid if you happen to go against the indoctrinated grain!

If you’re a white male christian, this society has no place for you. Simple. There is a Jewish State. Has it come time for a Christian State?
commented 2015-04-01 11:22:51 -0400
Very interesting, Brian – great clip. The left believe in all kinds of diversity – diversity of race, religion, gender, sexual orientation etc – everything except the diversity of thought.
