Wynne picks ex-PanAm CEO to run pension plan. What could go wrong?

David MenziesMission Specialist

It’s a new year but it’s business as usual with the Ontario Liberals when it comes to the 3-Ps: Patronage, Pork, and Payola.

The Wynne Liberals have appointed Saad Raffi to head up the Ontario Retirement Pension Plan Administration, the entity that will presume to create a savings scheme for Ontarians.

Yes, the guy who supposedly brought last summer’s Pan Am Games in “on time and on budget” (NOT!) was appointed by a government that has brought us numerous financial boondoggles over the past decade.

Golly, I feel so much more secure about my financial future now!

But this makes sense if you understand how government bureaucrats budget mega-projects:

If the original budget is going to be exceeded, then a “revised” budget is drafted.

If that doesn’t work as costs continue to escalate, well then, the budget is revised again. It’s a moving target with a cushy safety net – an endless reservoir of taxpayer dollars.

And THAT is how a bureaucracy can go over-budget by a billion bucks only to be later applauded for coming in “on budget"!

Maybe we’d have a fighting chance at stopping this madness if the Media Party did some due diligence in their reporting instead of simply recycling government issued press releases.

Well, what could go wrong? The Liberal government in Ontario collecting pension money from tax payers with the ex-Pam Am executive in charge. Seems when you scam in Ontario you get a promotion.

I think this leach is going to rob the pension plan blind for Wynnie. Anyone that steals from the public will be roasting in hell one day.

Dear Diary;
When I heard on www.TheRebel.media (yes, that’s right, I peek) that James Twyman, the folk singer from Portland, is planning to go to Syria to “win ISIS over” with a peace concert, my first thought was; why didn’t Gerald think of that for me? What a great idea. So, building on that (it’s good manners to use that phrase when stealing someone else’s idea), I’m trying to get a hold of B.O. to suggest that he could sweeten the pot if he threw in James Taylor and they could both do a duet of You’ve Got A Friend, after all, everyone remembers what a huge triumphant success that was after the workplace violence incident in Paris last year. Then just to show that I listen to Canadians, like Rod Hailey, I’ll suggest that we’ll chip in our great Canadian idol, Neil Young. That should seal the deal. See there, who needs to whip out our big CF-18s when we’ve got Neil Young’s singing voice to hit them with? Dare I say it? I’m thinking Nobel Peace Prize. In your face Malala.

I haven’t thought of the stupid pan am games for months. And now this. Way to bring back the bad memories.

Oh goodie. Another appointment to our brigade of empty-headed wonders, our nouveau aristocrats. This time to head up another insidious government ponzi scheme. Do the stupid leftie voters of Ontario who craved and coveted this wonderful new government benefit realize what they are wishing for?
First, will they pay tax (say, 25 cents) on the original dollar they’ve earned to contribute to this scheme?
Then, when their time comes to reap the benefit of their 75 cents, will the existing GIS component of their OAS be reduced through claw-back at the going rate of about 50 cents on each of those dollars?
Will whatever’s left after all that be taxable income?
In the end, will there be anything left of their original dollar?
Don’t be concerned, but instead rest easy with the knowledge that you’re dollar went towards Raffi’s modest, well-earned salary.

Oh well, the people voted for this

Perhaps one day, the people of Ontario and indeed Canada, will wake up and realize that Liberal and/or Ndp, equal Gangsters, Con Artists and Thugs. Vote for them and know that you are going to be robbed cheated and bullied. The old USSR would be proud of you and them.

In the near future you can expect both of these political Gangs, to become controlled by Islam as has happened to the Federal Government. When this happens you can say Goodbye to Canada.

Real Canadians (They do not vote Liberal or NDP) will have to suffer, as a result of the votes made by Morons.

Well said Bill Elder.

I worked for the government for 26 years…..believe me you do not want to be ruled by a bureaucracy….In Nevada a bordello got taken over by the government for undeclared taxable income….under state legislation they were obliged to continue runnig the business while in receivership for the sake of the employees. The new management failed.

A leftist is someone who entrusts the running of the economy to people who couldn’t make a profit running a whorehouse and selling whiskey………..:-)

I’m sure he’s counting on his Ontario Government Pension to top up that $656,250 salary. Or is the strategy to make as much as you can before Wynne and the gang get tossed, and then have to struggle to live on their resulting rewards as a Federal Senator (adding to the ‘Incompetent’ Senator quota).

An immigrant once told me that “Canada is a first world country with third world government..”
How true!

This ex liberal deputy minister will get paid $525,000 base salary, and a bonus of $131,250 . Meantime the fixed income poor who really need the pension will see tax claw-backs in their payments and all the pension tax revenues “invested” in pay-raises for pubic sector unions, more revenue sinkhole projects ,consultation fees, green tech racketeering schemes, and bureaucratic expansion. While those drawing on this pension will be living off the extra permitting and consumer taxes concocted to satisfy the Ponzi scheme – because the pension revenue money will be long spent, to the point of borrowing to cover liabilities. Long live the capos of Kleptocracy! This is just one liberal party insider who is reaping the parasite’s dream, there are many others. Every time you see a new windfall capital project or bureaucratic plumb come up or a new pubic sector union exec job filled, there is an old liberal trough hog to roll in the payola – just like the current Librano talk of legal pot vending -guess who the largest grower of legal pot is now will soon triple his take – that’s right a liberal party insider – it’s a crony capitalist syndicate which owns a government.

The insider patronage/brokerage network which is the “liberal” political cartel, has established the pattern of public theft and crony enrichment known to freebooters for centuries and perfected by postmodern kleptocrats – the current liberal political cabals operate much like the “boss” systems established in the southern US during the depression era.

All I know if they won’t be stealing from me, I’ve already moved my investments and capital out of the province, and if you are financially mobile, I suggest you do likewise, because as the klepto-state debt bomb goes to critical mass, this Toronto and Ottawa cartel will be stealing everything that is not nailed down or hidden.

Shouldn’t he be in prison?
commented 2016-01-16 10:36:59 -0500
We have no one to blame but ourselves. Ontario Canadians don’t seem to have a backbone to get out there and throw these criminals out of office and into jail.

So nice of the Liberals to be concerned about our financial well being. Their example stands tall and proud!

It’s not a pension fund. It’s a liberal tax and slush fund.
