From Tesla to the NBA All-Star Game, Wynne makes the poor pay so the rich can play

David MenziesMission Specialist

Ontario’s Liberal government is cutting $3,000 cheques for the province’s one-percenters who buy electric cars such as the Tesla.

At first glance, this doesn’t make any sense and it doesn’t get any better when you look deeper to examine the ostensible policy reason for this latest green fiasco.

The electric sports car is six figures off the lot. Martini socialists who buy Teslas usually have a regular carbon-spewing car in the garage for when they want to take a real road trip rather than go around the corner to the nearest Whole Foods.

Wynne’s “e-car grants” are the most perverse example of wealth redistribution imaginable. People suffering hard times aren’t going to benefit from this scheme, only be hurt by it.

Average Ontarians can’t afford a Tesla but are subsidizing them for the wealthy who can?

So the rich get richer thanks to your tax dollars, in what is now a have-not province.

And this e-car program isn’t a one-off either but a continuation of a trend where wealthy elites benefit from government largesse.

Remember the NBA All-Star Game in Toronto earlier this month? An enormous success with sell-out events all but impossible to get tickets for, yet the Wynne government gave Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment, one of the richest sports companies in the world, a $500,000 grant courtesy of taxpayers.

MLS&E is majority-owned by Bell and Rogers but they received taxpayer money to host an event that was already going to be a financial success! I’m surprised they had the chutzpah to cash the cheque.

In addition to the $.5M giveaway to Maple Leaf Sports there was also the freebie given to the sports-fan elites who flew into town for the big B-ball games. The latest money-losing Liberal fiasco is called UP ( Union Station to Pearson airport rapid rail system ) where they decided that one could ride FREE during the NBA All-Star Weekend to and from the airport. The regular fare was about $28 (one way ) and even after this FREE weekend was recently reduced substantially because UP was getting only around 1500 riders a day and costing the taxpayers of Ontario a fortune. Another example of $Billions wasted with the Wynnification of our transit systems in S. Ontario.

Hey folks, been a member since day one, but rarely comment. This issue pushes me over the edge. I have raced go-karts since I was 7 years old, on and off. When my son was old enough to race I got back into the sport. We both raced for a few years and I eventually became the president of our club and have been for the past 6 years. We are non-profit and our board and executive work our asses off to make racing for both kids and adults a truly enjoyable, family experience (no cell phones allowed).

In my first tenure, I decided that our club should host a charity race, with all profits going to our local food banks. It was a great success and received decent local media coverage. Inspired, and egged on by a local advertising firm associated with the food banks, I spent an entire year planning a street race, we had many issues to deal with to comply with our insurer, and met them eventually after a lot of hard work. This involved meeting with local government at many levels, getting support from locals so that maximum profits went to the food banks, rounding up $30,000 in sponsorships, gaining support from 7 clubs in Ontario, Quebec and New York State as well as various media coverage, food suppliers, emergency vehicles, safety fencing, car clubs for a show, guest speakers, beer tent etc. etc. etc. It was no small undertaking, but I was up for it and believed in promoting our sport and raising more funds at any one event in the history of Ontario food banks.

All I needed was a roughly $20,000 grant under the provincial program (ours wasn’t even considered “blockbuster”, the massive handout program that MLSE received their handout under), to pay for security fencing, 1000 hay bales, some logistics costing and grandstand rentals.

For 3 years I applied, with a full costing report, 5 and 10 year plan, future predictions for development and a fully detailed community benefit assessment over 5 years. I was declined every time, regardless of it being a non-profit charity event, benefitting the local community that needs tourism dollars in the summer as well as promotion of the community that Ontarians and Americans love to visit.

The Liberal government loves to dole out the cash, I was positive this project would receive a grant based on helping a large community in many ways, but alas, after watching Mr. Menzoid’s video I am now confused, didn’t the lefties always complain that the Conservatives were all about bending over for large corporations? The Liberal stench grows stronger every day, I’m glad my son will take his technical skills south of the border when he graduates, he’ll get to keep way more of what he earns, rather than keep the trough filled for the elitist.

@william McDonnell. Your anecdote reminds me of an individual I read about 20-25 years back who objected to the introduction of the GST. He ran a dry cleaners and figured out a dodge to beat the GST. When a customer came to pick up his/her dry cleaning, he wouldn’t charge anything for the dry cleaning. Instead, he would sell the customer a potato, which, (not) coincidentally happened to cost exactly what he charged for dry cleaning before the GST was created. Since potatoes are food staples, there is no GST on them so the customer got their dry cleaning – er, potato – tax free. I’d be curious to know if and when he ever stopped his little dodge. It would have been interesting to see the government take him to court and prove that he’d done anything wrong. As far as I know, there is nothing stopping you from giving away dry cleaning for free or from selling potatoes for an exhorbitant price if the customer willingly pays it.

I wonder if we can think of some way to adapt that technique so that we can avoid some of the more onerous taxes in Ontario?

Bill Elder. You just reminded me of a hardware store owner in Ontario back in the late 1990’s. It was a unique store as he sold items that were tailored more for camping and survival. The trick that he pulled was he never closed the cash register drawer nor did he enter the amount of the purchase. Usually he would round the price up or down probably just to make it easy for making change. The point is I think he was withholding the PST from the government. I always did like that old feller!

Rae Fraser- the most effective way to bring down a profligate nepotistic klepto regime down is for the producers to go on strike - no not the pathetic so called “unionized government essential services” wankers we have too many of, but the private sector linchpins who pay the bills – these kleptos operate on zero cash flow – defer your taxes – or do biz in the grey economy – do private cash transactions – make big purchases out of province, There are a thousand ways to stomp on the boot on the back of your neck – self employment is a way to go, avoid consumption tax by not being consumptive – or do it where these scum don’t tax it.

This government could not withstand a collective tax revolt from even 10% of the productive sector – they’d be at the bargaining table in a week – think like a goddam union extortionist for once – tax and spend is a 2 way street, time to make it a one way

There are over 1,000,000 of us. We don’t get Gov’t grants or subsidies. We get threats and fines from little Gov’t boy and girls, that have a Badge, and thus the Power to intimidate us into complacency. Sure-we can go Underground as a method of Fighting back ,but, it is just one person at a time. WE DO IT LEGAL .

" As of December 2012, there were 1,107,540 employer businesses in Canada, as shown in Table 1, of which 1,087,803 were small. Small businesses make up 98.2 percent of employer businesses, medium-sized businesses make up 1.6 percent of employer businesses and large businesses make up 0.1 percent of employer businesses." WE have the POWER . We just are Not using it.

If every one were to purchase an electric car, I wonder how many more Wind Turbines Wynne would have to purchase, just to charge the batteries.

Maybe—-it is time for the little ‘Mom and Pop’ businesses to stop this Gov’t sanctioned Slavery and refuse to collect TAXES . We are pretty much the only business people left in America that are forced to work for FREE. Maybe—— It is Time that we Unionised. We would be a Leftists’ worst nightmare. These Socialists can’t bankrupt us all.

Menz baby, like you are just like so un-left, y’know? Don’t you know it isn’t about Ontarians being happy and prosperous, eh? It’s about the socialist elite being able to like feel like good about themselves, like morally superior to the riff raff, by screwing the riff raff over with their own tax dollars. Get with it, eh?

PETER NETTERVILLE i tend to agree with you, i couldn’t believe when that woman was re elected, it seems Canadians, well those who put her in and also that other little boy Liberal have no concept of reality.
She has so much baggage weighing her down but so what. lets put her back in, better we know the idiot who is robbing us rather than take chance on someone who might be good for us.
Same as the little boy, his approval rating went up, it’s too bad The Rebel isn’t mandatory viewing for the Canadian population.
They/we ( Canadians) are kept in the dark by the mainstream media and these EVIL politicians get away with so much.
They ( Canadians ) have ’nt a clue as to whats going on with the refugee mess the little boy has created just so he can puff out his chest and say " see how great i am" while the refugees sit alone and scared ( not that i am defending the refugee program) just showing what a complete idiot the little boy is

I hope this isn’t a surprise to most, this has been the liberal agenda in Ontario for nearly two decades. We got the premier we deserved to get, now we must all live with the consequences of voting for such a poor and stupendously idiotic government. In all honesty I would be quite taken-aback if our provincial government here in Ontario could properly run a lemonade stand, never-mind a damn province.

Keep in mind that Ontario is due for a significant redistribution of ridings before the next election. In this redistribution, you will see ridings where the Liberals are weak merged into ridings where they have strength. Or, in ridings where the Liberals are strong, split into two (or more) ridings. The rationale being that urban ridings, being heavily weighed towards the Liberals have greater populations than those that are rural. So, diminish the anti-Liberal ridings and increase the Liberal-friendly ridings.

There are calls to do such a redistribution in Alberta, where rural ridings (WR-friendly) will be combined into other like ridings. The reasoning is that these ridings have small populations relative to urban ridings (NDP-friendly) which have larger populations. Effectively, WR-friendly ridings will be reduced by redistribution, while the number of NDP-friendly ridings will be increased, by splitting these ridings into smaller multiple ridings.

Gerrymandering is a long used method of assuring that the governing party keeps power. We have seen this in Manitoba, where the rural vote has been effectively crushed by their diminished riding count. Wynne and Notley will pursue such a practise and assure that they, and their successors, remain in power, regardless of the opposition.

More mindless excess from this sodomite. Her kind cares not one bit for anyone, save for her own vanity. This is level of dementia that Wynne has, and she intends to spread it everywhere. Every single decision she makes is for more bread and more circuses; she’s like Oprah, giving away more and more for the benefit on her insane followers. She is enamoured by her own cult of personality – her cult of sodomy – where each initiative is like a orgasm: short-lived and of diminishing benefit. This is the sort of behavior that appeals to the Cult of the Orgasm.

Stop using the medical system unless you absolutely have to.
