You've heard of Mecca and Medina. Now learn why Syria's Dabiq is almost as important to ISIS

Marissa SemkiwRebel Commentator

I spoke to Dr. Tony Costa, a professor of world religions, about Dabiq, Syria, an otherwise unremarkable town that plays a key role in ISIS, and Muslim, end-times beliefs.

Dabiq is considered the final battleground of Islam vs. the infidels, similar to "Armageddon" in Christianity.

That's why, for example, the name of the ISIS propaganda magazine is Dabiq.

This fascinating interview that gives you a concise, eye-opening primer on Muslim end-times beliefs, and why they matter to us today whether we like it or not.

Another interesting tidbit of information, Matthew, is that these very things were prophesied in the Bible, centuries before Islam even existed. John 16:2… “Yes, a time is coming when the one who kills you will think he’s serving God”, and, Revelation 20:4… “And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony about Jesus and because of the word of God. … They came to life and reigned with Christ a thousand years”. I just thought you might find that interesting, and expand your knowledge a little re: this subject.

Matthew don’t be so sensitive. There is no reason to try to chase anyone away from commenting here, in my opinion. Its all a part of the narrative, so get over it. No crying here.

Thank you Maurice, very useful information. No thank you Lance, ridiculously uncivil. I think you may find it more comfortable to go on Youtube or CBC.CA to make your type of “comments”.

Matthew Spencer, the Muslim Jesus and the Christian Jesus, totally different Jesus. The Muslims believe Jesus was a prophet and just a man. They don’t believe he died on the cross but faked his own death (By the way, Muslims are the only ones who don’t believe Jesus died on the cross… Jewish and secular historians alike know he died on the cross, they just disagree with the resurrection part). However, Christians believe in a triune God…. Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Jesus being second person in that Triune Godhead, God the Son, fully God and fully man. But the Muslims believe that since Jesus was taken back into Heaven, he’s become a Muslim. And when he comes back, he will come back as the lieutenant and enforcer for the Islamic Mahdi (Messiah) and he will behead all Jews and Christians who don’t accept the Muslim faith. Definitely not the same as the Jesus of Christianity.

Thks Marissa.
We can always tell when an ignorant Lefty chooses to comment, and even though there’s no fixing stupid, let’s give Matthew Spencer the opportunity non the less. Yes Matthew, Muslims believe in Jesus. The Muslim faith is merely a mish mash of other religions, put together by the megalomaniac Mohammed. Read; God is Not Great, The Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam, and after those two, the Koran.

I appreciate the insight. I realize it is an apocalyptic situation. I’m curious(I guess) if he subscribes to any particular religion or studies all as unbiased

End time eschatology seams to be getting more and more traction in both Christian and Muslim circles these days. In both cases, the prevailing wisdom seems to agree that this “Armageddon” is very close, and could happen at any time. One difference is that the Islamist believe they must pave the way for their Mahdi (Messiah) by fighting a global jihad against the infidels, while the Christians believe that no one knows the day or hour, just the “season”, which they believe we are now in. Another interesting tidbit is that end-time prophetic events for Christians and Muslims are almost mirror image opposites of each other. The next couple of years would be interesting to sit back and watch, if they weren’t so dangerous.

I’m assuming it was a slip of the tongue that Marissa didn’t notice when the professor said Jesus would be returning to battle the Christians, but I’m certainly no religion expert…

You can learn more in a 5 minute clip on the rebel.media than you can reading through hours of taxpayer-funded nonsense on the CBC.

Thank you, Marissa!

Canadians need to hear more interviews such as this one to achieve understanding of what the whole issue around ISIS is about. Thanks, for bringing this to us.

Perhaps a more simple approach. Destroy the states that are supporting ISIS. Leadership is a necessity in war. Take out the leadership in the Muslim states. Elections will replace existing extremists allowing the people to voice their will. If it is Muslim will to have an Islamic State they will re-elect more of the same. No more hiding behind the guise of the “Extremist Muslim” vs the “Moderate Muslim”. I don’t buy it.

If this is world war three, what in the world are we doing practicing political correctness for?
