The Energy East pipeline from Edmonton to the east coast is dead too, strangled by a government that changed the game half way through the approval process.

The only Canadian export pipeline with even a remote chance of surviving to completion is the Keystone XL pipeline -and that will be thanks in no small part to the push by the Trump administration to repeal regulation and get the deal done.
But why? Canada has the third largest oil reserves in the world behind Saudi Arabia and Venezuela, and we've got a highly trained workforce as well as extensive safety and environmental standards.
So why is it that instead of Canada being poised to become an energy super power, we can't even get our product to market?
