5 ways free speech is under attack

Brian LilleyArchive

I support free speech but….. That is a worrying statement to hear from anyone that lives in a Liberal Western Democracy like Canada’s.

I support free speech but…. always means there’s some kind of speech the person speaking, would like to see shut down.

And the problem with that is, where do you stop?

If you trust the current government to restrict speech you don’t like, what about the next government led by that leader you hate or that party you can’t stand.

Would you be comfortable handing over the ability to criminalize speech?

And yet, from people rioting to shut down civil discourse on campuses to calls for advertising bans and having the government police Twitter or Facebook for mean posts and fake news, this is a worrying time for free speech.

- Riots
- Fake News
- Twitter police
- Ad bans
- Political targeting

Watch as I go through each of the ways free speech is under attack in the current environment.

Doesn’t it remind you all of 1984?

Freedom of speech, freedom of expression it’s all taken for granted but as we have seen in the past with issues like Section 13 of the Human Rights Act - the hurt feelings on the internet section, many people, including elected officials are more than happy to let freedom of speech be curtailed for the latest fashionable idea.

The answer however should always be no.

It’s wrong for pols to decide how their job interview is done (election). Having them as arbiters of truth is ridiculous. Keep foxes out of henhouses. Common sense.

FREE SPEECH Is far from being FREE!

Someone in the past had to pay for the right of free speech. It seems that their sacrifices are simply wasted on today’s Liberal eletists.

@ Billy Howard

Sometimes it is difficult to understand whether one’s comment is sarcasm or mockery. Which is yours?

It is scary , but there are too many people in Canada who will not take this crap and many cops and military who will not enforce it. Many people came here to get away from this kind of thing and they will not remain silent forever.

I got news for you – free speech – in particular any opinion which exposes the fallacy of leftist dogmas, has been under attack in every corner of the world where there is a leftist political entity.

Leftism is a fantasy solution to a fantasy problem run by elites for elites and enforced with brutal totalism – you either set your mind to fight it and conquer it every time it pokes its ugly head out of the sulfurous infernal regions where it was spawned, or you will be oppressed by it.

Leftism is the antithesis of freedom, nowhere is that more evident than in their hatred of and repression of free opinion.

The natives are getting restless – that’ll be us, the old stock.
The drums of war are sounding.
They must know some of us will fight back against their tyranny at some point.
So why are they pushing this hysterical-lefty thing?
Is it some kind of trap for the right?
Or is it more like Ben here describes:
…that they really are a lot of incompetent nincompoops with far too much power?

The first thing we should do is report CBC’s Neil MacDonald who has proven that he is a Jew Hater. Or is free speech OK against Jews and Catholics; just don’t say anything bad about Muslims.

Peanut butter will not be on the menu. It has been banned from schools because snowflake parents are too lazy to teach their kids to adapt. Peanut butter is evil according to the regressive left, probably because it is comfort food for many.

Sometime soon the Libranos will have SWAT swarm the Rebel studios and arrest everyone on the charge of “wrongspeak”.
Led by Ezra and Brian, you will all be sent to a CBC re-education camp for journalists. While there, your diet of peanut butter will be supplemented with repeated seminars on globalism and climate change. You will learn to accept Sharia as the best example for family values. You will learn that Trump is the devil incarnate.
Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated.

Yes, Brian, it does remind me of 1984. I also remember reading it is high school and hearing everyone confidently agree that no one would ever allow that kind of thing to happen. And yet it is happening- right before our eyes. This is the result of a generation who has never been taught history and civics- only social studies.

You cant stop it ,Ezra can not stop it . and nor can the people of this country stop it. It’s coming like sharia law and the Chinese. so get ready for a life change down the road.
