“Albertan from Quebec” Maxime Bernier promises liberty, fairness and security

Holly NicholasRebel Commentator Holly Nicholas

While the Conservative Party of Canada leadership candidates were in Calgary recently for a forum, I took the opportunity to speak with Maxime Bernier, who many refer to as the Albertan from Quebec.

A lot has happened since I interviewed him before he entered the race so we talked about everything from how he’s going to pay off Justin Trudeau’s massive debt to firearms policy.

Watch my video as we discuss his thoughts on the biggest issue facing Canadians today, gun policy, ISIS and more!

Among other things, Bernier told me he absolutely does not support a carbon tax and really doesn’t like taxes in general. He supports pipelines and wants to abolish supply management which he sees as a cartel that only benefits a minority of farmers.

Bernier is the most libertarian candidate in the race, with policies that centre around freedom and liberty.

The CPC leadership vote will take place on May 27th of this year but in order to vote, you must be an active member before the March 28th deadline.

At The Rebel, we’ll continue to update you on all the news surrounding the leadership race and bring you interviews with the candidates vying for the leadership.

I will admit I don’t know what I am talking about, especially concerning property rights, and am just putting things out there, trying to understand.

Just checked, and Scheer is running on making sure property rights are entrenched in our Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

Jamie I read the whole article in that link and he said a whole lot more than just no. It is an interview well worth reading, even if it is a few years old. http://www.c2cjournal.ca/2014/09/what-does-quebec-want-nothing-of-constitutional-reform-says-maxime-bernier/

First of all keep in mind that this interview was in 2014. Second, he says several times that if the federal government keeps out of the provincial government’s business (interprets the constitution the way it was meant) there would be no problems with property rights, or many other issues the feds have no business poking their noses into. The problem is though, that with a PM who manipulates the constitution to give Ottawa licence to mess where they have no business, leaves the provinces more at the mercy of a bad PM. The fact that there is potential for such abuse does indicate to me that the Constitution could be more straight forward regarding property rights. OR /AND it is out and out against the law for Ottawa to interfere with property rights within the provinces in the first place.

" ..authority over property and civil matters in each province was given to the provinces exclusively". http://propertyrightsguide.ca/are-property-rights-protected-in-canadian-law/

This is an interesting article, with pros and cons for the entrenchment of property rights in the Constitution. I guess it could open up a lot of issues, and that is why no one wants to touch it. It would be nice however if there were a clear definition of ‘property’.

Jamie what candidate has said they would reopen the constitution to address the property rights issue?

Jim and Jill, none of them do not one.

Not really big on O’Leary. I mean how can he claim to be all about free enterprise but get his pay cheque from the state broadcaster (shark tank)?

Liza Rosie, he isn’t going to address that question/concern because he has no plans to change a thing! I asked the same question months ago and he skirted around it be saying he was concentrating on the economy at that time and his immigration policies would come out later. They still haven’t and given NOT ONE OPPOSITION MEMBER IS VOTING AGIANST THE LOSS OF OUR CHARTER OF RIGHTS AND FREEDOMS AS THEY ALL ARE ON BOARD WITH THE ANTI ISLAMOPHOBIAL LAW, WHICH BTW TRUDEAU HAS NOW DECIDED TO PUSH THROUGH MARCH 21!!, he like all the rest are THE EXACT SAME AS TRUDEAU! WE ARE IN BIG TROUBLE AND SINCE CANADIANS DON’T GIVE A DAMN AS LONG AS THEY CAN SHOP, HAVE THEIR CELL PHONES AND FREE BABYSITTING UNDER THE GUISE OF EDUCATION, WE ARE DONE AS A PEOPLE AND A NATION! NOT ONE POLITICIAN IN THIS COUNTRY IS GOING TO GO AGAINST THE MUSLIMS! THEY NEED THEIR VOTES AND THEY ALL NEED OUR MONEY WHICH IS WHY I SUGGESTED SHUTTING DOWN THE ENTIRE COUNTRY AND ALL OF OUR MONEY TO GOVERNMENT COFFERS BUT AGAIN , NO ONE WILL DO IT! NO MONEY, NO POWER!! CANADIANS ARE WIMPS AND IN RETROSPECT, IT IS TOO BAD OUR MEN AND WOMEN DIDN’T REACT LIKE THIS DURING THE LAST WORLD WAR BECAUSE WE ARE ALL TRAITORS AND COWARDS AND DIDN’T DESERVE THEIR SACRIFICE!

Keith and Helen Harvey, well said and fact. We already are less than 50% of the population and less than that even in our own governments. This isn’t our country anymore but rather many different countries all mostly third world with us the slaves to provide for them all but soon we are all going to be completely islamic and under sharia law. After all this is the promise trudeau made to his Imams for the Muslim vote and they are coming to collect! we have no borders, no sovereignty, no leadership, no laws and we Canadians have no rights anymore now that Islam reigns superior .Trudeau told us all he was Muslim and that he was going to prioritize, serve and protect them over everyone else – all throughout the election campaign and he was true to his words and actions! In just 15 months this once proud, envied, respected, peaceful, secure, sovereign , wealthy nation has fallen- all thanks to the Islamic TRAITOR AND HIS MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD CABINET/GOVERNMENT ON PARLIAMENT HILL!

All of the people in politics who think that their knee jerk reaction to the expression “the red pill” is going to sure up 51% of the vote are in for the same disappointment that Hillary Clinton got for campaigning like this……

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=26-VzfBZg1w

Supporters of the MRM and those who have taken the red pill will make note of your names and shit list you come election time…..and put to rest this notion that people like Judy Rebick broker the non existant “womyn’s vote”.

Half of the population is not going to put the pencil in their vagina and make a circle with a cross comming out the bottom next to the name of the biggest man hating bitch or self loathing masochist on the ballot and then say “so there that’s the womyn’s vote”

@allan Peterson…my point was that restricting immigration may keep out trained fighters, but recruitment of locals can only be stopped by the strong disapproval of peers…problem is they don’t really disapprove all that strongly.

If all these candidates want to keep bringing in hundreds of thousands of immigrants and refugees in a constant stream. It will take a few years but eventually we will all be replaced and this will no longer be Canada. And when there are enough groups that live here all wanting majority rule, Canada will just be another country engulfed in internal genocide as in those other third world hell holes. Make no mistake here any idea that your grandchildren and their children will be inheriting a beautiful free and peaceful country is a dream, the reality will be a country of poverty, oppression, and bloody conflict. Welcome to the third world, just look at where these people come from that should be evidence enough, you think they are going to suddenly become civilized because they came here. We have our tolerance, democracy and diversity that makes it right for them to abuse us, they are Parasites and we are the dying host. If anybody thinks I’m way off, then explain to me what happened to Europe.

So far I like Bernier the most.

No, Craig, ISIS isn’t an idea it is the logical outworking of the koran. Islam is a political ideology camouflaged as a religion.

Most of our politicians are too focused on appeasing immigrants. The more they keep bringing, the less they will care what you and I think/want. Big problem.

I’m with you Liza Rose! Would like to hear safety and immigration policies discussed.
Looking through the comments on Maxime’s FB page, I noticed a comment he made regarding not imposing Conservative values on the provinces. I don’t like the sounds of that. Not sure what to think!

Peter, I was wondering about that. What is the justification keeping AB as “have”? The economy there is in the pits and I would regard a recession in that province.

To all Rebel followers: In order to simplify your choice for the new Conservative leader, just flip on the CBC.
Whatever candidate the CBC lies about, disparages and slanders the most is the very candidate we should all be voting for.

@allan Peterson….unfortunately ISIS is an idea and that is harder to block or filter out than a contaminant in the air or a virus carried by migratory birds that shit it out on your lawn furniture. It has youth culture appeal.

Why did the Mods and the Rockers of the 1960’s become Mods and Rockers?…why did they convene in Brighton Beach to have a rumble?

Youth culture has always baffled the parents.

Notice how fast Ontario, when it became a have-not province, was moved into the have-not status so they could collect from the equalization program? It took less than one year.

Notice how after 2.5 years of economic crash Alberta still has not been moved into the have-not status, but still has to pay the full transfer payment?

Notice how Alberta is still the hardest province to get E.I and the E.I periods are the shortest of all the provinces?

Notice how Eastern Canada (and B.C) vehemently opposes pipelines to be built to move Alberta oil?

Notice how Eastern Canada, especially Ottawa, lusts for the royalty revenue of the same oil and gas sector they are trying to shut down?

Notice how the main stream media is exuberantly happy at all the opposition to the oil and gas industry in Alberta?

Notice how the main stream media is in love, madly in love, with Trudeau’s and Notley’s carbon tax and “green” agenda, which targets Alberta the hardest?

Notice the main stream media’s apathy to the pain of loss of jobs in excess of 200,000 (and all the spin off jobs and small businesses that don’t make those stats) in Alberta?

And so many people wonder why Alberta by-and-large hates Eastern Canada and wants desperately to separate!!

Racist? Even the right is misusing that word.
commented 2017-03-08 15:46:01 -0500
Like what he say’s but that accent needs to be fixed, for none Qubecers at least. We have had to many Pratt falls from accents like that. I do not mean to sound racist, it is just a matter of gloom by association.

I must admit I am disappointed he didn’t address our Islamic refugee/migrant/immigration problem. It is at the top of the list for many Canadians. Without that being effectively addressed, we have no peace, safety or freedom in our own country and no other policy will matter. Not one of them, even Leitch (for all her bravado), is willing to do what is needed.
Here is an article on where all the candidates stand on immigration(briefly). None of them go far enough for me.

@allan Peterson, Iqra Khalid poses a far greater threat to Canada than ISIS because she has wormed herself into the fabric of our government and effectively we are only a few steps away from Sharia . Unbelievable as it may seem.

Isis is not a threat to Canadian security if you stop letting muslims into the country. Its easy to yak about ISIS. It takes a much stronger back bone to address islam itself.
I like most of what he says but forgive for being skeptical of another Quebec prime minister. If he would address islam I would be convinced he won’t fold like house of cards when the lefties start with the name calling.
