Vancouver radio station NEWS 1130 reported that the Church & State Wines is pulling its “Boys Will Be Boys” wine from the shelves because the moniker promotes “rape culture.”
Evidently, perpetually-offended snowflakes on social media believe this well-worn phrase is insensitive to sexual assault victims, or, as the case may be, alleged victims of sexual assault.
So it is that “boys will be boys” no longer refers to the elementary school set getting involved in some innocent shenanigans but rather, is now code-speak for male chauvinist pigs going full-out 50 Shades of Grey on non-consenting females.
The winery’s operations manager said: “I just knew right away we had to get on top of this, it’s super sensitive. I was shocked we even had this label.”
For his part, the winery’s general manager says he didn’t know this brand was even part of the company’s inventory, so now the winery is eradicating every last remaining bottle.
Not even wine labels are safe from social justice whiners.
