Prime Minister Selfie proved himself to be prime minister classless this week when he told an MP returning to work after a stroke that he didn’t use his “downtime” properly. Yes, he said that.
How on earth can he say that? Didn’t use his downtime!
Prime Minister Trudeau was replying to a question from Conservative MP and environment critic Ed Fast, a well respected, long-time MP making his first appearance in the House of Commons since suffering a stroke.
Fast received a standing ovation earlier, then he asked Trudeau a question about the government refusing to release studies on the impact his carbon tax plan will have on Canadians despite having the studies.
It was a pretty standard question from an opposition MP, nothing personal or biting in it.
Watch as I show you how Trudeau responded by calling what most compassionate people would refer to as “recovery time”, “downtime” instead.
Trudeau’s awful swipe at Fast was his worst answer in the House on Tuesday but not the only cringeworthy one.
But to Trudeau and his supporters, as long as he says and feels the right thing, like diversity is our strength, then I guess everything will be fine.
Maybe we should call him the hashtag PM instead of the selfie PM. One thing we can’t call him after his reply to Ed Fast is compassionate.
Arrogant, yes. Out of touch, yes. Compassionate, no.
