“Deep green selfishness” behind Edmonton Mayor’s support of Notley’s carbon tax

Sheila Gunn ReidRebel Commentator Sheila Gunn Reid

In a year end interview with the CBC, Edmonton’s far left wing environmentalist mayor Don Iveson said he thinks that the carbon tax will create jobs in Edmonton.

When talking about how big oil companies will cope with Rachel Notley’s new carbon tax, Iveson said:

"When they do it, they'll create a whole bunch of jobs in the process and the innovation that's behind it may be exportable to other jurisdictions”

Or, they will just lay people off and go to other jurisdictions that don’t have carbon taxes, like they already do.

There is a deep green selfishness at work in Edmonton with it’s Mayor that props up bad NDP policy.

How many Alberta jobs have to be killed in other communities so that Edmonton can see a highly subsidized government micro boom? 200,000 jobs have been lost all across the province but the NDP hired 50,000 extra public sector workers, mostly in Edmonton. So Edmonton’s NDP mayor is happy.

Mayor Iveson doesn't care that the money to fund these provincial government subsidized green projects and all the public sector growth, was extracted from families in Sherwood Park, St Albert and Airdrie, who can't afford to pay for it.

Ralph Klein was right, Edmonton does have too many mosquitos and socialists.

Yeah he wants jobs in Edmonton. A mayor who wants more tech jobs and factories for his/Her city. Wow what a great idea. A mayor wanting the best for his city….a new idea.

Look Mo, It’s Christmas, I’m sorry I called you a pussy ass taker. Give me your address so I can send you some playdo. Do you have someone at home right now or someone you could call? I would hate to think you were sitting there triggered all by yourself with no one to give you a hug.
Here, I send you hugs and kisses xoxoxoxoxo.

Mo, you sure do protest a lot.

None of this mindless bluster on behalf of the extremists on this page takes away from the fact that Gunn-Reid is a sloppy reporter with a questionable set of ethics regarding fairness. If she were a real reporter/journalist, she would have tried to get an interview with Iveson and questioned him on his year-end statement. Instead, she took the easy way out, lumping in an idiotic anecdote involving Klein to add a little venom to her misguided fury. Talk about lazy and irresponsible!

Krchnak, I saw that and I appreciate your concern for my mental state. Ironically, the content seems to be more reflective of your behaviour, given your malicious verbiage. As for Liza, your unhinged reactions to my statements indicates you have no tolerance for opposite viewpoints. I thought this was a platform to discuss issues presented by the site. And given Levant’s recent setback, you should take that as an example of how not to conduct yourself. For the record, I have voiced my opinion on other sites about the NDP’s performance, with its hastily-rushed Bill 6, its carpet-bombing approach to legislate conduct involving the LGTBQ community in schools and a carbon tax that favours an urban demographic. So calling me a leftie is way off base. Unless you define leftism as one who doesn’t buy into your hateful rhetoric. If that’s the case, you’re a pathetic little rant monger grasping at straws in your failure to voice any opinion that’s remotely coherent.

I never said anything about suing Mo, I’m not as thin skinned as you are. Maybe you should get out of the kitchen if its too hot for you here.
commented 2016-12-23 00:28:33 -0500
Liza, calling me a stuck-up moron and a pussy ass-taker on a site for all to see would have you more likely to get hauled before a judge than anything I’ve said about you. Your pal Ezra lost a major court case for his recklessness. Maybe you should watch your comments.
commented 2016-12-23 00:22:52 -0500
Liza, go ahead and sue. If I’m ashamed of anything, it’s being an Albertan lumped in with the likes of you.
commented 2016-12-22 23:13:37 -0500
Mo that kind of slander is absolute proof that you are a liar or a very disturbed person if that is how you describe Albertans. You should be a shamed of yourself.

Congratulations, Mo. At least you’ve “come out of the closet” and stopped speaking with that specialty of the Lefties- the forked tongue.

I was born and raised in Calgary – left in the mid 80’s- and don’t recall it being particularly racist or rapist at that time. It is far more violent now what with minority gangs etc. Yup, once again we see the richness of diversity, multiculturalism and secular materialism.

Alberta in the past was very authentic in its acceptance of others. “Nigger John” Ware was a highly respected cowboy. Some of the early Sikh’s were like wise. My mom taught a lot of Japanese students in the 50’s whose families were well liked and this was just after the war. Likewise the German POW’s were well treated both during and after the war. Many of them returned after the war and bought farms.

Yes, there were prejudices but overall I doubt much has changed over the years. What was more attractive was the authenticity of the acceptance. None of this phony Trudeau gushing and politically correcting every perceived wrong.

The difference was that they did their best to adapt and fit in. Unlike so many of today’s whiny immigrants who have been taught by the SJW’s that this country owes them something for merely blessing us with their presence. Not all but certainly many.
I am not a hay seed. I’ve got my Master’s degree and I love my history. I am an Albertan first, a Westerner second and a Canadian third even though I’ve lived in Manitoba longer than I lived in Alberta.

Maranatha.

Liza, I’ve lived in Alberta all my life, both in rural and urban communities, so I’m more than qualified to talk about the Ugly Albertan, which judging by your annoying blather, would easily include you. Those same Albertans had their heydays in the ‘70s, hazing gays, sexually assaulting women in nightclubs (foreplay Alberta-style) and badmouthing visible monorities. That the dynamic has changed has made Alberta better much to the chagrin of the Ugly Albertan who resents not being able to get away with those escapades any longer. The Rebel is a safe haven for those mouthy louts, who love to hate a municipality that embraces those changes, brought about by immigration and Canadians moving here from elsewhere. If that’s what has made Calgary more inhospitable, you’ll get zero sympathy from me.
commented 2016-12-22 19:41:57 -0500
Mo, Terry is a goof who sounds just like you.
Calgary has been infected, infiltrated with the nastiest of nasty from Ontario. I know because I used to live there.
Stop calling Albertans who want their lives back, racist, homophobic and sexist. It doesn’t stick and just makes you look like an elitist creep. If you understood anything at all about Alberta there is no way you would be talking the way you are.

“run along and punch out a hippy or something.” Well, that pretty much says it. Y’all are just as bad as the lefty wingnuts who insist I’m transphobic, white supremacist, homophobic, and intolerant. By middle-class, middle-aged, white, cisgender foaming-at-the-mouth liberal fruitcakes. Hilarious, as I’m a queer, part MiqMac, tiny efffeminate tranny male. But I support conservative ethics, want to see Trudeau obliterated, and think Trump will shake up the elitist Yanks a bit.

So, by all means continue ranting at this Mo guy, who actually seems to be fairly open-minded and, so far, hasn’t indulged in the insults some of you folks are so big on. But remember: Action, not words!

YO….Mo….I just read your posts. I stand by my comments even more after reading your rhetoric.
Your a coward, you won’t show your identity. A sure sign of a mental illness. It is clear by the hypocrisy in your posts, it is a serious mental illness. LMFAO! Get help fucktard.

Liza, first of all, who’s Terry? And last I checked, Calgary has no shortage of civil servants and academic talking heads, since there is a university in town. So what’s the difference? Oh, wait, does the fact that Edmontonians didn’t kowtow to the racist, homophobic and sexist dogma dished out by the Wildrose Party have anything to do with it? It’s also interesting that you seem to have the heart and soul of most Albertans, as according to you, they have contempt for what Edmonton has been allowed to become. Allowed to? What prevailing force would have stopped that? Oh, right, the hateful Wildrose hillbillies again. Still, it’s arrogant of you to presume you know what’s on the minds of the rest of Alberta. And if Klein was loved, it certainly wasn’t by me. Now run along and punch out a hippy or something.
commented 2016-12-22 16:30:46 -0500
Terry, (mo Tongo) you are a stuck up moron. Lower your nose and take a big wiff, that’s where the stink is coming from.
“And I was also disgusted with Klein’s scorched-earth approach to deficit elimination that left an entire city disenfranchised for years. "
Yeah right, ’Mo’s’ no lefty.

I have news for you Mo, most Albertan’s have contempt for what Edmonton has been allowed to become. A haven for civil servants, and academic takers. Ralph was loved because he despised that elitist bullsht, recognised and identified the leeches and tried to mitigate the damage they seem hell bent on inflicting on the rest of the province. Edmonton sucks so badly now that as soon as anyone says they hail from Edmonton, I look at them sideways until they prove themselves to not be pussy ass takers like you.
Edmonton’s mayor is a bloody coward, who belongs in Ontario or Lotus land. Albertans aren’t stupid enough to swallow the slop he is serving. Sick slob.

Looks like there could be a big market in Alberta for those rubber chastity belts they are producing in Germany, right here in Alberta!. If they are not going to at least kiss me first before they bend me over, I want to make it hard for them to gang rape me.

For the record, I’m not a leftist, but rather lean towards the conservative side…

So in other words you’re a leftist. I am always amused how often this bit of left wing taqiyya is used when the evidence to the contrary is so obvious.
commented 2016-12-22 14:27:15 -0500
I do apologize for my grammar MoTonogo, but I am doing all this while I am at work, off of my phone. I am not sitting in front of a computer with spell check.

On a side note, you talk about safety for your family????

What the hell does that even mean????

You stated, “that you are right leaning in the political world” is that correct?

You sound a lot like a leftist too me.

Only left leaning people in the political world, attack or threaten someones family…

MR. TONOGO…. Actually I’m not obsessed with anal cavaties, it was the obvious spot where to find you. Nice to see KELLY WEBER has surfaced. I thought you died with Hillary. Didn’t you GUARAUNTEE a Shrillary win???

For the record, I’m not a leftist, but rather lean towards the conservative side, and one who is disgusted with the reactionary rants of this site’s followers. In my previous argument, at no point did I support Notley and her carbon tax, but merely indicated that she has done nothing illegal. And I was also disgusted with Klein’s scorched-earth approach to deficit elimination that left an entire city disenfranchised for years.

I also did not lob a personal attack on Gunn-Reid, simply her credibility as a journalist and her role as a catalyst for the hatred that gives the rest of you inarticulate multitude an inexplicable adrenaline rush.

As for the rest of you, I chose a pseudonym not out of cowardice, but safety for my family, having seen what the likes of you have said about detractors on this page, and even worse, death threats on other sites like Twitter and Facebook. My hide is far thicker than you think but I must consider the welfare of my loved ones.

David White demonstrates some sort of obsession with the exploration of anal cavities. Perhaps he can regale us with some of his personal adventures involving that preoccupation.

Mike Krchnak exhibits a fair number of psychological disorders, from antisocial to borderline personality. Psychology Today’s website has a brief synopsis of most of them; he would be wise to investigate them.

Charles Moulton’s disregard for higher education, even though he claims to have spent four years in a post-secondary setting, is also quite evident, given his poor grammar.

Finally, all of you ignored that my appraisal of Gunn-Reid was far kinder than what I wrote about Ezra Levant. That opinion still stands. He is free to sue me any time he wishes.

Hey TONGO or whatever the fuck you are. Simple question, who’s ass smells better, Notley or Iverson?? Its obvious you have had your head up both. Or Trudeau?? Oh I forgot his Laurentian shit doesn’t stink. Hence Coderre could flush it in raw form down the St. Lawrence.

When Queen Rachael does get locked up you can join her. Enjoy your “illegal” carbon tax asshole. I’d like to see you go nose to nose with Mr. Krchnak. Is your first name HO?

Once again, the remarkably untalented Gunn-Reid, a bored Fort Saskatchewan housewife disguised as an “Alberta Bureau Chief” of a political lobby group disguised as a media company, manages to rile her gullible following. If she has that much disdain for Edmonton, maybe she can watch legislative proceedings at home on cable instead of enduring the trip to the Alberta capital she so reviles. As for her unhinged followers, perhaps they can get Rebel’s sociopathic megalomaniac to start a petition to move the capital to Calgary and build a Trump-like wall around Edmonton.

Hello Mo Tonogo,
It is good to see your point of veiw. Oh by the way! I love your idea to move the capital of our great province to Calgary. That is a really good idea. On a different note, I see you completely forget to mention your attack of Sheila Gunn Reid? Why is that? Oh I know why! You have to make sure you are superior to everyone on this site. Okay! I give up… your leftist and socialist ways win. So where do I have to go and get indoctrinated, and please inform me before I sign the papers to join your little cult!!! How many IQ points am I going to have to drop to become a full fledge member of the left? I just need to know this so I can either keep doing my own books, or am I going to have to hirer some right lean book keeper to do them. Plus! I need to know? How many years of post graduate education am I to have? I only have four years… is that enough to be brainwashed? Or do I have to go back to school to become a little lower IQed..

Drew – the city will step in and buy the condos for public housing, and then give them to the faux refugees that Trudeau is bringing in.

Poor Mike Krchnak, who obviously thinks anyone with an opposing viewpoint has a mental disorder, yet his venomous rant demonstrates that he would be a more ideal patient. All I said was that Gunn-Reid was a horrible writer whose only talent is an ability to stir up a bigoted readership to bully others who think differently. Yep, the same Gunn-Reed who cheered on a gaggle of knuckle staggers in a chorus of “Lock her up!” against a premier who did nothing criminal. The same Gunn-Reid who chastised conservatives for deploring that obviously barbaric act. And the same Gunn-Reid who takes on an entire city for voting in a government she hates right down to the core of her essence. Edmonton was a city severely punished by the Klein Revolution simply because he had nothing but contempt for a city with a more diverse range of opinions and the city still suffers while its rival metropolis thrived during those axe-wielding days. But Krchnak no doubt doesn’t see it that way and opts for the most convenient solution his small mind can muster: berate a naysayer with insults that demonstrate a rather juvenile and potty-mouthed wit, stopping short of issuing death threats on Twitter that has turned a QR77 junior reporter and many others into targets for abuse. If this is The Rebel way, I won’t go anywhere. I’ll continue to hold reprobates into account.
