Environment Minister Catherine McKenna is hosting what she calls a high level event in preparation for the G7 meetings that will be held in Quebec later this summer, and like every high-level event hosted by the Liberals, the priority will be gender.
It's a so-called climate leaders summit embarrassingly named “Women Kicking it On Climate.”
The tweet from Environment Canada’s allegedly non-partisan Twitter account said:
“Minister McKenna is also a great #climatehero and she is a great example of high-level women influencers who will be leading discussions at tomorrow's climate leaders summit: Women Kicking it on Climate in Canada.”
The now deleted tweet was accompanied by some garbage feminist-type quote about women being disproportionately affected by climate change.
What the heck is a climate hero and why is Environment and Climate Change Canada using non-partisan government resources to stroke McKenna's ego?
And what exactly are all these climate hero ladies kicking at this “kickin’ it” conference if not my wallet and the oil patch while it's down?
We know through other Freedom of Information investigations that McKenna's Ministry has at least 20 staff involved in the planning and scheduling of her tweets. Environment Canada's tweet probably wasn't an accident.
Setting aside the obvious issues of the public service taking a partisan stance, asking your employees to call you a hero is pretty weird and narcissistic.
With Trudeau’s plummeting approval rating, the Liberals need all the help they can get.
