#Elbowgate turns “Justin Trudeau fanzine” Maclean’s into “a parody of itself”

Rebel Staff

It’s tough being a print magazine like Maclean’s in the age of the Internet. Someone must have told Maclean's that becoming a Justin Trudeau fan-zine would work.

But their rate card says they have fewer than 17,000 people a day coming to their website.

Meanwhile, it’s not rare for to have 100,000 people a day, plus a quarter million views a day on YouTube…

Anyway, we all remember what Trudeau did in the House of Commons last week: Throwing a tantrum, swearing, grabbing, elbowing.

It was a disaster. Almost all Liberals kept quiet.

But not Scott Gilmore, the husband of Catherine McKenna, the environment minister.

He also writes in Maclean’s.

So Gilmore wrote:

"I’m married to Catherine McKenna, the minister of the environment, who the replay video shows was also the first over the boards (to stop it) when Trudeau and Mulcair dropped their gloves.”

To stop what? Trudeau from grabbing and elbowing people? Or to stop Mulcair — who wasn’t doing anything other than hollering.

Not only is Gilmore lying about what Mulcair did, but he’s surely lying about his wife. Was she actually going to physically restrain her boss from manhandling the opposition?

Gilmore has always been a weak columnist. But he’s an even worse spin doctor.

Gilmore didn’t mention Trudeau’s cursing, or his grabbing Gord Brown. He didn’t say who Trudeau elbowed, or that it obviously hurt her.

But Gilmore did say the opposition’s reaction was “painfully insulting”. Got it? Trudeau didn’t cause any pain. The NDP did.

I love this line: "Tempers flared. They acted out. We all do it.” No, only one man acted out — Trudeau. No, we don’t all swear at people at work, and grab people we don’t like on purpose, and elbow others negligently.

We’d be fired if we did.

Gilmore downplays what Trudeau did, by saying there are real rapes and assaults in Canada, so stop complaining about Trudeau:

"Every single one of these MPs should go back to their ridings, and take an hour to visit an emergency room, a family court, or a woman’s shelter, and there they should look the victims in the face and try to explain how badly they were traumatized by the Prime Minister.”

Yeah, don’t you dare criticize my wife’s boss, everyone. There are real rapists out there!

Is any one really surprised that Maclean’s is going out of business?

Michael Mann: You commented about the morons on the Rebel. You are on the Rebel, so I guess by definition you are a MORON. ( and an idiot I might add )

Benita Dunn: Are you the cunned stunt who commented the other day about the way something was done back in Jolly Old England. I think it was you. Maybe you should consider moving back to Englandistan.

As for the bum wiping rag Macleans has become, Gilmore fits in well. What is hard to understand is why he would admit to being McKenna’s husband. YUK

What is most entertaining about the fracas initiated by the Papineau Perpetrator is that it is essentially a bun fight between Canada’s two socialist parties. Conservatives can sit back and laugh at the lefties rolling around in the mud together.

Ask Eitan if I am Betina – he will tell you that I am not.

I know it kills you that some people here actually like what I have to say, since you hate me so much.

They are so right about you on that other forum. Nice face by the way.

Betina Dunn said, "Actually, Michael Mann’s comments are probably the only things worth reading on this site. Keep up the good work! "

Sure, Michael, sure. Whatever you say, Michael.

Joe Mac,

It’s laughable that an opposing view is deemed as shit disturbing, but I understand that you want to live in your little circle jerk bubble here.

Sad to see MacLeans’, which was once a fixture of Canadian media that I looked forward to receiving in the mail each month years ago, become nothing more than another Liberal propaganda rag eating up taxpayer’s money, the print equivalent of the CBC. The taxpayer-funded Liberal propaganda media in Canada, both print and electronic, are ultimately responsible for Canada’s ongoing destruction. They have systematically misinformed and misled Canadians for many years now, and the corpse of free Canada will be their ultimate legacy.

I think the time of the many smart commenters on this site could be much better spent. Responding to Michael Mann is a waste of time. He’ll never get it and doesn’t want to. He just wants to be a shit disturber and waste your time.
Do you think a general forum where comments would be organized and remain for all to see, would be helpful?? Perhaps the Rebel could introduce such a forum.

D Mary,

YOU are not a real Canadian and I suspect your family would be embarrassed by the idiocy you constantly post on here.

Canadians are not batshit crazy extreme conservatives. Many polls have been done and Canadians are actually varying degrees of liberal.

Sorry conservative dipshits:

Majority (63%) of Canadians Say Trudeau Elbow Incident is “No Big Deal” as Approval Ratings (62%) Remain Strong

Trudeau is going to be Prime Minister for quite some time. Maybe you would be happier living in Texas.

Though I hate to waste my time addressing people like Michael Mann, I’ll make the exception this time.

Mann, you must be exhausted at the end of your day trying to come up with more nonsense and verbal diarrhea. Thank goodness for Imodium.

Michael Mann aka Gordo Steele, who are you to decide who is a real Canadian? Our family has been here since the early 1800’s and that, by simple definition, is real Canadian. You need serious psychological help, if anyone would take you. Maybe a PhD student looking for thesis material, if anything for the abundance of “your disturbed material” and of course the possible grant money.

Michael Mann’s arrogance is truly breathtaking. Michael is first and foremost a pompous ass…At long last Michael, why don’t you just f*** off.

Michael Mann commented – “The vast majority of Canadians agree with me. Not you. I am a real Canadian. You are not.”

Pretty funny Mickey, a megalomanic carrot who presumes it speaks for all Canadians. Vegetables are what they are, they can’t reprent anything but the conditions they are grown in.

Freud would love to get you on a couch.

Who is a “real” Canadian, and who is not a Canadian? There seems to be an issue about this with a few of the commenters on the Rebel! Also, there seems to be a discrepancy between the fact that some believe that the Liberals represent the “majority” of Canadians, and the fact that some believe that the “majority” of Canadians are not being represented.
These issues are “off” topic since this Rebel article was addressing the issue of Maclean’s magazine being the “mouthpiece” of the Liberal Party. However, Ezra, Brian, and other contributors to the Rebel, is this not a great topic for the Rebel to investigate?

Where has Justin’s Diary gone to? I miss the updates exposing junior for the psychopathic bully that he is.

Actuall, I think the “Papineau Perpetrator” is moving to more of a UFC style.
commented 2016-05-26 09:08:32 -0400
Gee the boy blunder thought is was something….he tried three times to formulate an adequate apology. We’ll see how Canadians view this incident over time. Junior’s a “rock star”, I’m sure the “hits” will just keep on coming.
commented 2016-05-26 01:19:01 -0400

You don’t elbow in boxing.

Secondly – what Trudeau did was no different that what might happen on Black Friday when people are trying to push through a crowd to buy a TV on sale.

I am glad that the majority of Canadians think Elbowgate is bullshit and I am not surprised that the morons on The Rebel are trying DESPERATELY to making something out of nothing.
commented 2016-05-26 00:31:30 -0400
The obvious fact here, which has been overlooked, is that Trudeau boxes as a hobby. He gave the elbow to whomever was there to receive it with intentional force. It was not a probable elbow that one would normally give when someone is in that kind of environment (HOC or an office environment); it was a reactive boxing impulse to demonstrate his ‘power’ and ‘control’.

This is not to say he’s a good boxer…..

39.47% is the vast majority of Canadians? Funny, when Harper had 39.62% back in 2011 the Liberal supporters defined that as NOT the majority of Canadians, Hypocrisy thy name is Liberal.

Conservative parties of the past were nothing like they are now. They would be considered liberals today.

Do you know what political party has been most in power in Canada? I will give you a hint – not conservative.
commented 2016-05-25 20:52:41 -0400
Carrot? Turnip is more appropriate, after all Liberal trolls are usually uninformed. They are firm in their stance that they are always correct even though facts disprove them time and again.

Turnip – “nabo” – is actually used in European Portuguese, meaning dumb, stupid, or just clumsy in a specific task.
