France's right-wing presidential candidate Marine Le Pen refused to meet with Lebanon’s grand mufti on Tuesday after one of his aides asked her to wear a hijab.
Le Pen is on a three-day visit to Lebanon this week to meet senior officials. When she arrived at his office, she was asked to put a white hijab on. She eventually just walked to her cab and left.

“You can pass on my respects to the grand mufti, but I will not cover myself up,” she told reporters.
Eventually, the mufti's office issued a statement saying Le Pen had been told in advance that she will have to put a hijab on during the meeting. They claimed to be “surprised by her refusal”.
