Kofi Annan wants Canada to be more like African countries that are "one step up from the Stone Age"

Rebel Staff

In the new Africa Progress Panel Report, former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan says Canada is one of the countries that needs to aim for zero carbon emissions by 2050.

Annan also says we should look to Ethiopia, Kenya and Rwanda as examples.

But of course, those three countries have low carbon emissions because they're so poor.

Ethiopia's GDP per capita is only about $500 a year; Kofi Annan has probably spent that much at lunch.

I hope Kofi is not taken seriously, who wants to return to stone age!

Kofi, stop exhaling!!! You are polluting the air and our intelligence and our sensibilities.

Annan and others of his ilk are yet more examples of the corruption that is the U.N. Canada needs to get out of the U.N. as quickly as possible. You are always tainted by the quality of the people with whom you travel. Just look at the human trash that inhabits the U.N. Our beloved Canada deserves better.

Actually, Ethiopia has one of the largest growth rates in the world. 8 – 10% per year for more than 10 years. If this can be done with minimal use of oil, good for them.

“Kofi Annan needs to spend a winter somewhere out here in some small town on the prairies.” Holed up in the “Little Mosque On The Praire” perhaps with the jihadists and lefties? Andy, I agree. My whole property is a net CO2 sink. I have trees over one quarter of the lot, and lots of greenery including lawn elsewhere. I converted my heating to Heat Pump a few years ago, so no so called “Carbon Emissions” and no “Particulates” vented into the atmosphere from burning fossil fuels. Sign me up for those reparations from the 3rd world nations. There should be a whole separate reparation program from China, given what is going on in that country!

Oh letr us not bother our time with these people! Let us do what we do for the progress of our beloved Canada! They can’t even manage they own! All blablabla without any sense at all!

What bothers me are the Canadians who do not research for themselves and believe the BS that comes from interests against Canada. Canada needs to pull out of the Corrupt United Nations and carry on with the above average international exposure that we get for standing up against bullies and dictators around the globe. We could do more to prevent perversion and human rights abuse, but as Canadians, we find it is easier to blame ourselves for everything around the globe because the complainers don’t check their facts and spew forth made up BS as fast as they can think it up.
Piss off United Nations. You are a corrupt failure of an attempt at world unification. When you compare Canada to Ethiopia, these people are not right in the head. But it all makes sense to them is they can cripple us and make us think it is our fault that the planet is a mess. A-Holes.

The UN is a cesspool of leftist corrupt.

Mr. Anan was the UN contact person at the time of Rwanda, and the demoralizing outcome is that he then became Secretary General of the UN. That was a very revealing fact about the UN, and an unpleasant one. Indeed, Canada does have one of the lowest “carbon footprints” in the world, and one of the highest “carbon sequestration rates” in the world. We should be thankful that nature here is looking after the climate- as is the case worldwide. Our knowledge of climate is very limited and the people causing panic based on inadequate information are deserving of our condemnation and contempt. Aren’t we wondering what Pope Francis will say on June 18th? He should sidestep the issue. Notice how the supporters of the idea of Global Warming being catastrophically caused by human activities are trying to draw statements from the likes of people such as the former Secretary General. All of this is in preparation for the Climate summit in Paris in December. Last night, June 5, I covered my plants for fear of frost. I would not object to a bit of warming.

GOOD NEWS EVERYONE!!!… Canada is already a net Co2 sink. According to the JAXA Satellite, Canadian forests absorb more Co2 than we emit. So basically the third world ows us reparations.

" It seems that the Japanese have a nice tool on orbit and set out to figure out who was a “maker” and who was a “taker” in the CO2 production / consumption game. (h/t to kuhnkat in an o.t. comment. Seems they found out that CO2 was largely net absorbed in the industrialized ‘west’ and net created in the ‘3rd world’. So pony up the cash, China, Brazil, and Africa. I want my environmental compensation!"

Arch criminal Kofi is telling us how to live? The man who enriched himself and others with his “oil for food” scam at the UN.
AGW is an Unproven Hypothesis . . . as scam, and since the globe has NOT warmed now since 1998 as CO2 levels have risen slightly . . . perhaps they were WRONG !
In 20+ years . . . no one has been able to explain to me how One Molecule of CO2 surrounded by 2500 Molecules of Other Gases, can warm anything?
Canada is one of the cleanest countries on the Planet. Our emissions are 1 1/2 percent of the global total. BUT, if you factor in the vase land mass and greenery of Canada, our emissions are likely a Net Zero ! ! !

Ah, the U.N. United Nitwits…. Guess that makes Kofi the head nitwit! Being polite because I could use quite a lot of profanity to describe the U.N. Look at the great job they did handling the situation in Rwananda, appointing Sharia loving individuals to the human rights coucil( WTF), no intervention in Syria, demanding we take in thousands of potential jihadists( funny never asking Muslim countries to take in people), never heard a complaint about the oil industry in the Middle East…….. The list goes on and on……

Who listens to Kofi Annan? Not me. Not since he dismissed the Rwandan genocide as “it’s normal; these people just go tribal every now and then”, refused to send help to (now) Senator Romeo Dallaire to stop the genocide, then blamed the whole mess on Dallaire and let him take the fall.

A thoroughly corrupt man is Kofi Annan. No one with any sense heeds his opinions.

Kofi Annan needs to spend a winter somewhere out here in some small town on the prairies. Maybe after a couple of blizzards and power outages, the smog stuck in his head might start to clear.

George Drummond, you’re correct regarding the transforming of CO2 into oxygen through photosynthesis, but plants also emit CO2 through the process of growth and decay. I suppose we could consider photosynthesis as a carbon pricing offset, so the plants could get a free pass as long as they remain living. However, the minute they die, they should immediately be hermetically sealed in air-tight plastic wrap. Oh, wait a minute; plastic warp is petroleum based. Maybe we should incase them in concrete, or does cement give off CO2 as it dries and transforms into concrete? By the way, George Drummond, I assume you exhaled while you were typing you response. Stop it!! I held my breath the whole time I was typing this, so I’m good.
commented 2015-06-05 20:41:17 -0400
Actually, George, plants absorb CO2 during the day, and give off CO2 at night…
commented 2015-06-05 19:59:06 -0400
Stephen; you may have misspoke.
I believe that plants and trees absorb carbon dioxide during photosynthesis then produce oxygen (which we breath) as a by-product of photosynthesis.
Please excuse me if I’m off the mark.
commented 2015-06-05 19:36:46 -0400
I do hope he realises that trees and organic material gives off CO2 at some point, so we should cut down all our forests, kill all our crops, and stop breathing.

I suggest that he lead the way and encase himself in an airtight bag so he won’t breath out CO2, and when his body decays, he won’t add CO2 to the planet. The sooner he does this, the better.

As head of the UN he was always a bit of a buffoon, and keeps proving himself every time he goes public. Baby Trudeau probably considers him an “expert”.

When will these people realise that with CO2 almost doubling, the planets temperature hasn’t matched the claim that CO2 causes global warming. Sun activity is the main cause.

Zero carbon emissions is completely possible. All we have to do is cease to drive, heat our homes, turn on our lights, eat, defecate and exhale. Now if we can just get all other species in this country to follow our example….. Naw, the world hasn’t gone completely bonkers, Hell no!!
commented 2015-06-05 19:04:17 -0400
“Zero carbon emissions”? Laughable… and entirely impossible. Which African nations have zero carbon emissions? I’d like them named, because the citizenry who does not use natural gas/oil/coal for heating their houses use wood instead… and now you’ve got carbon emissions PLUS particulate added to the atmosphere. No cars? Oh, so we go back to horse-and-buggy… and now we have to deal with the livestock offal on a orders-of-magnitude increase over now. And how does that get dealt with? Disease increase! Iron forges and blacksmiths… they burn wood and coal — more carbon output. What about Industry? How do these “enlightened” people think they can live without the extravagances they currently have? (Have they even tried?) Oh, and then there’s this little matter of breathing — exactly what, Ezra, is the byproduct of breathing? CO2! So, if looked at in the big picture, if we were to go back to the Stone Age, as this article’s title suggests, we would be making the situation worse

“Zero carbon emissions” my posterior… Nice theory, completely impossible in reality.

The UN is bogus. A luxury club for lowbrows masquerading as enlightened world leaders. It’s a joke. In fact, the European Union is also a joke, Obama is a joke, Lizzie May is a joke, the whole green movement and the UN’s agenda 21 are jokes. But I’m not laughing.
The insidiousness of the social engineers is unrelentless and they drive me crazy, so I tune them out now and then believing that common sense and rational thinking with a resurgence of love of Canada will bring all this madness to an end.
The best that I can do is to keep talking and writing letters and attempt to persuade the lackadaisical to get involved and vote to save our Canada from complete economic meltdown.
commented 2015-06-05 18:03:54 -0400
Guy, Canada not only needs to tell the UN to shut up and die, the UN needs to ACTUALLY do it! But this isn’t about the UN right now, so much as it’s power-greedy C!@#’s telling everyone what to do to look important by the blind and drooling sheep.

AS Ezra Says’s , “Kofi – You first!”! These people are good at telling other people, how they should be impoverished, not llike they atr not….but like the countries’ they formerly came from! They want us all to go back to the Stone Ages!

How long will it take for mindless eco-whackos, ignorant bureaucratic dilatants, and stupid people generally, to get it through their thick heads that when the numbers are crunched properly, i.e. without spin, bias or to achieve a pre-determined outcome, we would find that Canada (aside perhaps from some zero populated desert island) has about the lowest, gentlest carbon footprint (I hate that expression) on the planet.

Factor in Canada’s huge surface area share of the earth for which Canadians are the stewards, our country’s meagre population, our modest total so-called greenhouse gas emissions, and determine each individual Canadian’s contribution, per acre, to this perceived assault on our environment.

We can try e-mailing our answers to Kofi Annan, David Suzuki, Al Gore, Elizabeth May and the like and see if they can come up with a country that’s gentler on the planet than Canada.

I lived in Africa 25 years. There was only one country in Africa that worked and provided opportunity for all. The UN helped destroy that country. No future for Africa. Government does not work there. Ezra calls it the stone age. He is right.
