Media Party admits Duffy trial was only about taking down Harper government

Brian LilleyArchive

For a while it was the ONLY story that mattered out of Ottawa, the trial of the century, now it is nothing.

The Mike Duffy trial resumed this week but with fewer reporters covering and less interest. Why? As you'll see, the media party is being very frank and up front, they don't care about this story now that the real target of the story is out of office.

@andrew Stephenson The big wig owners of 2 newspapers asked their newspapers to write a couple of pieces endorsing the conservatives amidst the multiple pieces condemning him. I don’t think you can fairly say that “everybody else” supported the conservatives. So, yeah, that would be a lefty lie.

The fourth estate has become the 5th column

“An out and out lefty lie!”

Is it though? CBC and the Toronto Star supported Trudeau, pretty much everybody else … conservatives.

Rick, doubt there is a link, no doubt it was merely to detract from the thread. A number of the article threads have been turned/gone way off topic or uncivil or both. Toronto Sun shut down their blogging, quote “negative, even malicious personal attacks, albeit by a minority, has led us to conclude our current commenting system is not serving the interests of the majority of our readers.” unquote. CBC and CTV have a few articles you’d think would have blogging allowed but they too are disallowed – perhaps to avoid the same? Several news outlets in Ontario – the same.

Michael Mann said: “Hyacinth, Terry Rudden and Jimmy Da Silva were banned. There is a discussion about this and about people like you on another media site.” Hmm…..suspected something. Do you have a link? Thanks.

Andrew Stephenson said: “90% of the Canadian media endorsed him.” An out and out lefty lie!

Steve McQueen said: “. It really is too bad Quebec did not separate – gets rid of these disgusting Demarais and Dussault filth.” Quebec has never intended to separate. It has been all about blackmailing the ROC for more and more money from taxpayers!

Guaranteed there will be NO media present for the Lieberal Mac Harb fraud trial! The socialist media is sooooo disgusting and untrustworthy! One of the prime reasons I don’t watch TV anymore!

Once the MSM achieved their goal of unseating Harper their job is done. I predict that Duffy will be found innocent on all charges and it will not be reported. Mac Harb will be convicted and it will not be reported. Then all the journalists(?) can go back to their real jobs of kissing Trudeau’s a** to get their own autographed selfie or senate appointment. 22 seats to fill and so little time.

Moon faced fat boy missed the attention he used to get – that is why this went on and on – I could only hope he finally has a heart attack and kicks off. – sooner the better. – Canada will be a far better place.

Face it, Duffy was a journalists’ delight. He was a walking cartoon for a hog-at-the-trough. His predilections for shameless self-promotion and his shaky finances were well known before his appointment. Both of these should have kept him off the short list – but Harper and Co. spent about the same amount of time on Duffy’s background checks as our little Immigration Canada elves are spending doing quality control checks on the 25,000 gifts that Santa turdo is giving us for Christmas.

Once the PM fills the 22 Senate vacancies, all will be well. What is a Harb trial? Never heard of it

F*#& them!

Michael Mann they stopped having interest before Justin won the election.
commented 2015-11-21 02:13:31 -0500
Don Cloud if you think Justin is running the country in any way shape or form you are not too bright. And our country is going downhill since he got in. What is your excuse for that? And what will it be for his whole term.
commented 2015-11-21 02:10:56 -0500
John Munro the supremes blocked an appointment and the only reason the senate was looked at was because the conservatives created an oversite body, the libs never had one.And it was not Harpers fault that they made bad expenses like it was not Chretiens fault Harb did bad things. And appointments have to meet certain provincial requirements, and maybe Harper is not some pathetic child who only appoints cronies like the liberals do.

I am sure the Harb trial will get 3 CBC trucks as well LMAO.
commented 2015-11-21 02:06:28 -0500
Andrew there lies were proven false so they ignored the trial , originally they had 3 trucks there from CBC alone.

They know where their bread Is buttered, the pay-off comes in the billion dollar waves of party paid propaganda messaging it will take to sell their toxic globalist policies to the zombie voter.

“Media Party admits Duffy trial was only about taking down Harper government”

Tell us something we do not already know.

" I wouldn’t worry about it. Every time they click on The Rebel, they inadvertently lend support to The Rebel and Ezra. That’s enough to put a smile on my face."

It’s not inadvertent. I fully acknowledge that not only am I generating “pageviews” directly, but every time I write something controversial that generates replies, that adds to it too (that’s one reason they tolerate moderate opposition, as long as it doesn’t get too out of control; the discussion fattens their wallets… or more likely given website economics, mitigates the rapid thinning thereof). That being said, it’s literally pennies which is not something that keeps me up at night.

Peter … no need to try and convince us. Harper is toast … that pretty much sums it up.
commented 2015-11-21 00:07:10 -0500
Andrew Stephenson – “90% of the Canadian media endorsed him” i.e. Harper?… I must confess that’s the best laugh I’ve had tonight going through a dozen The Rebel items… But I’m curious – do you just pull these “statistics” out of the air; have a “source”, or do live in parallel universe Canada?… Or, do you just wish that nobody noticed the pro Trudeau “news” flood and then a few token “editorials” in the final days before the election?… “Mandrake Gestures Hypnotically!” indeed…
commented 2015-11-21 00:04:25 -0500

Convince me of what? Mr. Lilley hasn’t actually presented any evidence whatsoever that this is a manifestation of willful malevolence directed at Harper – versus, simply, disinterest in a man who has lost most of his importance in the intervening months.

That’s the problem with columns like this. They really don’t do anything than a mildly interesting observation that has been wildly overinterpreted with a fair bit of conjecture implied as fact. Either present a fully composed opinion piece with well written, cogent arguments, or do investigative journalism. This sort of piece actually damages the site’s credibility beyond a small core of loyalists.

Your conspiracy theory is amusing. I’ll point out that it’s Friday night and awful out and I am bored, and I would presume my colleagues have similar rationales.

Peter Netterville: I wouldn’t worry about it. Every time they click on The Rebel, they inadvertently lend support to The Rebel and Ezra. That’s enough to put a smile on my face. We can return the favor by boycotting the faux-scandal-of-the-day media so that they can continue to bleed red and lay people off.
commented 2015-11-20 23:13:24 -0500
There is no point trying to convince these lefties: Don Cloud, Michael Mann, Sheldon Berg, Andrew Stephenson, that the main stream media is biased for Justin and against Harper because they will never be convinced as they are here for one purpose only … to disrupt.

Odd how they all show up at same time on the same articles, all with the same talking point and with the same style on comments.

They are trolls, pure fecal matter trolls.

Of course, this is why Harper kept a tight leash on his party and gave limited access to the media. His mistrust of what passes for a press in this country was well-founded.

This reminds me of a conversation that I had with a couple of American business colleagues from DC, while attending a conference in San Diego just prior to the start of the election campaign:

They: “So…this is scandal is over $90,000?”
Me: “Yes.”
They: “And the money was paid back.”
Me: “Yes. By the PM’s chief-of-staff.”
Blank stares. “This is a scandal?”
commented 2015-11-20 22:10:17 -0500
Mr Genius. Scandal and just bad government. The people saw what he was from 2011 to 2015 not what he said he was in 2011 which was a big lie. You’ve seen the result on Oct 19.
