The investigation into sexual harassment allegations against Liberal MP Kent Hehr is concluded, but the Liberals and Hehr don’t want you to know what findings came out of the investigation.
The Calgary MP was accused of sexual harassment by two different women.
One woman alleges Hehr touched her inappropriately at an event and a second who worked at the Alberta legislature during the time he was a Liberal MLA, said he made suggestive comments. That same woman said she was warned by colleagues to avoid getting into an elevator with him.
After the allegations became public, Hehr resigned from cabinet and the PMO, at taxpayers expense, hired a lawyer to investigate the claims made by the women.
Now the Liberals are keeping those findings secret. The explanation for this, according to Hehr, is also private with him citing “legitimate privacy concerns”.
Whose privacy? Hehr’s? Must be, because one woman named herself and the other has successfully avoided having her name go public.
Canadians paid for this investigation, and now they are owed the results.
#MeToo Liberals are happy to protect their own powerful men by sealing records while also simultaneously claiming that women need to come forward to have their stories heard if attitudes around workplace harassment are ever going to change.
