"Naked and Afraid" teaches us everything we need to know about feminism

Gavin McInnesArchive

I'm obsessed with the reality TV show "Naked and Afraid." It explains everything you need to know about feminism, the differences between men and woman and the general problems with Western culture today.

The show, in which a couple struggles to survive in the wild, is a lesson in humility.

Our self-esteem is way too high. We're not that tough -- especially women.

When will we learn to accept that men and women are different?

Don’t have cable, don’t have a satellite dish, and that show wouldn’t be on my viewing list if I did. However, since it apparently has something to do with feminism, I am posting this link which appeared on the Small Dead Animals blog a few days ago. It is an interview with Christina Hoff Sommers on the subject of feminism of the modern variety. Her comments about how the stifling of debate deprives a field of study of its most useful tool: criticism, applies to other issues that are also on our front pages, such as climate change and discussions about Islam.

John Yuristy – Why don’t you call me Joan? It’s friendlier.

I know sex sells but is that all you buy?

Feminism is really simple to understand. It is an intellectual and political movement that seeks to establish in law, practices, and social attitudes, gender equity. It doesn’t use sex to try to get you to give all your money to the hot bleached blonde with the nice legs but to treat all women as human beings and as equally valuable as men.

Feminists oppose sex slavery, dowry murders, honour crimes, FGM and other crimes committed to demean, disable and devalue women. Men who support our goals are also feminists.

Feminism poses no threat to any man who knows his worth is equal to his sister’s. Simple.

So you cherry pick two episodes with the one woman who has a definite mental illness and you call this “typical” and Debbi. Comparing Debbi and Bo is comparing apples to walnuts. If your comparison where to be accurate you would find a totally novice male and compare him and there are many on the show and they snivel as much as you do. An ostensibly trained career military person compared to an avocational survivalist is not apt. Any person with a sense of equity would acknowledge this. And your attempt to couch any disagreement with you as a liberal versus conservative viewpoint is asinine.

Mzz. Abernethy, (got the spell right this time), from the rattle I’ve seen on these comments, surely you have applied for the Rebel job that was solicited several days ago. You seem to want to be heard, so much, maybe that would help you package it all into a single comprehensive bundle. I presumed the call was to replace Marissa Semkiw, even though that was not said.

Now there was a woman who knew who she was, could say it hard and strong, and was so feminine it would make your knees shake. Not feminist, whatever that might be, but she probably did that gig too, in passing. If you’re good, you don’t need the lobby group.

Jason, baby, did you miss the smiley face? You hurt my feelings not one whit. My post was intended to applaud your wit. Next time, if there is one, I’ll use really plain language so you can understand.

Oooh! Nice jab Joan. I didn’t realize I struck a nerve. I thought you would have appreciated my analysis, based on the facts. But I guess I overestimated your abilities to handle grown up conversations yet again… Sorry to hurt your feelings. Next time, I’ll wear a velvet glove. ;-)

Glenn Craig – You have the worst case of vagina envy I’ve seen in a long time.
commented 2015-08-02 16:52:59 -0400
Jason – " you just have to know how to perceive it properly" – yeah, like through the biased lens of prejudice. (-:

Pat Anjali – you said nothing originally about qualitative anything. You talked of the “universal” as if there is any such thing as universal equality except perhaps of what is.

And no, you are wrong, I don’t mean equal only under the law.

Women are equally capable to men. Different – vaginas not penises – but equally capable and equally deserving of equal financial security.

You think women must defer to the big, strong, smart male authority, even when it demands you kill all the girl babies. Like under much of the world’s law. I disagree.

Joan….that is pretty much exactly what I am saying….so stick a menstrual tampon in my shirt pocket because my heart bleeds for the plight of the “powerless” female…and thank you for showing the true colours of feminism….:-)

I’ve never seen the show Gavin, but I’ve enjoyed reading the comments, so here’s a comment of my own. it says in the Bible, that women need love and men need respect. Problem is in today’s world, for the most part, as I see it, neither one is getting love or respect. It’s all about competition today, sad to say. The radical feminists are so aggressive and combative, not only are they miserable, they make everyone else miserable by their actions too. What’s really needed is a return to common sense which also seems to be a disappearing characteristic unfortunately.

This MAY spark a wildfire, but Gavin does make an interesting point. While in the modern world, men and women have equal standings on paper, the reality is that men usually tend to be stronger physically, and weaker emotionally than women. I’d venture that both genders are as smart as the other. When you strip down our technological advantages, this shines as clear as day. There ARE going to be exceptions to this rule, for I personally know a few men who wouldn’t survive 5 minutes in the wilderness, and some women who could last for weeks. But the majority percentage is shown everyday. You just have to know how to perceive it properly.

Gavin I watched that episode last night. Boe and Debbie was a single man-woman episode for 21 day not 40. Still a good episode.

There is a difference between equal and equal opportunity…
commented 2015-08-01 15:19:54 -0400
Joan, darling girl, what don’t you understand about your loose use of the word equal? If you say, “different but equal,” you exclude qualitative equality which was my original contention. I doubt you mean numerically equal or logically equality. So you must mean equal under the law which was also my original contention. And so you adopted my original position to oppose my original position. It’s like being in the Monty Python sketch about buying an argument. Well, my sweet provocateur, I guess you like it like that.

Roger Smith – true enough.

“‘Cause your baby’s momma is my baby’s momma…” (Officer Down, 50 Cent).

Pat Anjali, sweet little pea, what don’t you understand about humour and satire?

What don’t you understand about universal truth, the blatant fact of different but equal?

Equality is not an illusion, sweet four cheeks you. It is a fact.
commented 2015-08-01 14:05:37 -0400
Joan, sweetie pie, what did you not understand about Gavin’s point that something can be generally true but not universally true? Six small primitive matriarchal or matrilineal societies do not disprove a general truth. Nor does equality under the law make women equal to men in every way or visa versa. That’s why women rarely play hockey in the NHL. But they can move as much earth as a man, with a bulldozer. This gives them an illusion of equality. And, of course, the government will provide for a single mom, much as a husband would have, in days of yore. So, in general, the hubris of modern women rests on the foundation of birth control, abortion, welfare, technology, cheap energy and affirmative action.

Women rule!!!!

Glenn Craig – so what you are saying is that women are smarter than men. We direct, control and manage men to do the dirty work while we sit back and count our gold. LOLOL

Charles Moulton – Jimmy and Terry and others like them stimulate controversy and debate which is good for rebel sales. Welcome their views.

LOL – good one – unfortunately the truth is not often appreciated.

Hey Charles….you sound like a nice guy. Welcome to the Rebel. If you don’t mind me saying..you might be a little naive. I learned a long time ago that if you’re going to mud wrestle with a pig, you’re both going to get dirty…but only the pig enjoys it.

It also teaches you everything you need to know about “nature” and the fragile “eco system” = the eco system which is stinging you, or scratching you, or drying you out or drenching you, or freezing you or stalking you or in general wants to kill you – unless you have the wits to utilize the technology at hand to overcome nature’s might. Technology over nature = survival. Rejection of creature comfort technology = death by nature.
It would be a good lesson to learn for all the green zombies who want us living in caves and eating saw grass to “save” the fragile nature of the planet. But I fear it would be wasted because the green cult is just another Malthusian misanthropic death cult, and people dying due to lack of heating or cooling or shelter or agrarian technology suits their end goal -depopulation. They have this in common with the baby crushers at PP.

I cannot think of another group of people, who more deserve to be running around in the woods, with their ‘naughty bits’ hanging out as targets for every mosquito, sand tick, deer fly and assorted leaches than these. Never watched the show, but maybe I will now so that I can cheer on the hungry bugs.

Speaking of gold…Everything you want to know about gold and human nature you can find in John Huston’s 1948 film, “Treasure of the Sierra Madre.”
One of my favourite sources for ‘explaining radical feminism’ is William Gairdner:
“…It comes as a surprise to many that what we now call “feminism” has not always been so anti-male and anti-family. In fact in its traditional form, lasting until about WW1, so-called “social”, or “domestic”, or “maternal” feminism (scorned today as a sell-out by radical feminists) aggressively promoted femininity, motherhood, and family, and of course, the main-provider role of fathers. It was not feminism as we think of it now, but “familism…”

It is not just the wilderness where this holds true. There have been places and times where the only resource has been coal to be mined….if you did not mine coal….you did not eat. And in those situations there are many more women who would rather fuck a coal miner than dig for coal in the mine……..and don’t get me started on gold.
