#NeverTrump conservatives are no different than virtue-signalling liberals

Ezra LevantRebel Commander

For a conservative to say he will never vote for Trump does not actually accomplish anything conservative, or even democratic, other than declaring the moral superiority of the NeverTrumper.

Which is the whole point, just like liberals virtue signalling on, say, global warming is all about telegraphing how righteous liberals are.

NeverTrumpers think they are more ideologically pure, or, more likely, just classier.

Donald Trump may turn out to be a great president, or a mediocre one, or a disastrous one. We don’t know yet.

But we do know what Clinton will be like:

Selling foreign policy to the highest bidder; turning non-partisan institutions into political weapons for her family’s interests; continuing her foreign policy failures from Russia to Iraq to North Korea.

You can’t name a single issue where Clinton is better than Trump, but for the NeverTrump’s, this isn’t about high-minded principles.

It's about the “cool kids” wanting to keep their invitations to appear on CNN, and all the fancy dinner parties.

Best comment Keith and Helen. And yes it was a very condensed list.

There we go, there’s that Hitler comparison again. Connie must be a Hillary supporter, most definitely a Liberal. The results of this election WILL impact us in Canada whether we like it or not. And I would think the world is going to feel it in some way, especially if the Clinton Gang are back in power. Where was Connie when Obama sent his crew to Canada to advise the Trudeau campaign? She could have told them to just worry about the upcoming election in their own country and stay out of Canadian politics. Trump is an asshole, Hillary on the other hand is a liar (emails, etc.), is a thief (took thousands of dollars of White House possessions at the end of Bill’s presidential term, etc.), is corrupt (took money out of the Haiti aid program, etc.) is a perjurer (Whitewater scandal, email investigation, Benghazi), is an enabler of a sex predator (harassed and intimidated Bill’s victims, all women), is a cheater/conspirator (conspired within the DNC favoring Hillary to be the nominee over Bernie, had the questions to be asked in Town Hall debates before the debates), is a traitor (takes money from enemy countries,Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Morocco, etc., armed terrorists, remember Benghazi). Also there are many deaths associated with the Clinton’s, even a government agent moved to a different state under protection in fearing for her life, sending paid agitators to cause fights at Trump rallies, and as of late some kind of involvement with a child sex ring that is being investigated. That’s a very condensed list, one could write more than one book on the sordid past of the Clinton’s and there already is a few, like Roger Stone’s. But let’s remember what is really important here and that is, Trump is an asshole like Hitler.

Stop wining, Trump is the biggest asshole since Hitler.

Why do’t you stay out of American politics and deal with what is going on in your country, Canada.
Very sleezy of you to try to win over Trump voters so they can subscribe to the Rebel.

I thought the rebel was better than this, but I suppose when it comes to money anything goes.

How pathetic.

Sux-to-be-you – if don’t like honest dialogue, and you hate Ezra, then you are on the wrong site.

Indeed Maurice. He is a typical New Yorker and not somewhat I would invite for a beer. But was GW Bush perfect? Was even Reagan? What are they looking for? Jesus Christ to win the nomination?

Oh sux…..did you here Ezra is suing a guy…… really.
commented 2016-11-04 13:48:34 -0400
ezrasux… have serious mental issues, it is obvious in your posts. First symptom is that you’re a coward hiding behind a fake name. Second symptom is your unhealthy obsession with Ezra Levant. Get help you clown, or at very least, go to your safe space and NEVER come out!
commented 2016-11-04 12:00:31 -0400
@ezrasux…the fellow to which you refer is in no way having his freedom of speech curtailed. He will be free to repeat what he said in court. In fact he can still say it now if he still believes ir is true. When he is in court he can present as part of his defence that he honestly believed the accusation to be true.

If Ezra can prove there was financial loss as a result of what was said , that has legal penalty.

Without seeing any of the paper trail and taking on faith what has been presented in the media, I would have to conclude that this fellows allegations were false.

People SLAPP sue Ezra all the time…he got fed up and started doing it back.

Keep your Ezraphobic hate speech out of this safe space………:-)

I agree with you in part Ezra. While I’m not sure about the whole ‘invitations-to-dinner-parties’ angle (though I’m sure for some it’s true), there does seem to be this conservative puritanism that NeverTrump-ers cling to; that the candidate must be only a few times removed from sainthood in order to be an adequate conservative. The policy planks in Trump’s campaign are by far the most conservative of all the GOP candidates—he was the only candidate to bring immigration to the forefront. Conservatives seem to like to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory in their neverending hope for a Reagan V2.0.

I see mention of the likes of Shapiro—a brilliant pundit—and the response can only be, so what? Shapiro was a Cruz supporter and probably still is in his wet dreams. Cruz isn’t without his warts, as he was a flip-flopper on amnesty and just about anything else regarding immigration for political expediency and basically an establishment candidate who pretended he was a Washington outsider, condemning crony capitalism and Wallstreet while taking money on the sly from Goldman Sachs and Citibank, as confirmed by the FEC, whose campaign chairman worked for—gasp—Goldman Sachs, whose wife has ties to the Council of Foreign Relations (and worked for Goldman Sachs); the CFR are a globalist public policy thinktank who advocate for a borderless North America; Cruz—along with Paul Ryan—advocated for trade deals (such as the TPP) to be immune to filibustering or amendment, would not dismiss putting boots on the ground in Syria (and certainly “carpet bomb them to oblivion”). And if you still don’t think Cruz flip-flops—he’s a former NeverTrump stalwart who’s now campaigning with Pence. Nobody’s perfect—at least the Donald doesn’t pretend to be.

These people are the kind that walk down the middle of the road and who said nothing while Hitler walked all over freedom. They just couldn’t vote for someone who isn’t as pure as they (and they make sure to TELL EVERYONE). They help set up defeat for those who are willing to really fight for the right. They are the enemy whether they like it or not. They can’t see the kind heart of Trump that is there for the astute to see. Despite the bluster, he can’t hide the fact that he cares, and cares very deeply about America…those who reject him are also often deceived by the heart of Hillary…her hatred of the American people can be seen in her willingness to sell out their country to enrich herself and to maliciously lie about her opponent.

PS have you noticed that Trump is going to Phoenix, Philadelphia, etc. while Hillary is going to an African-American rally, a union rally, a Hispanic rally or a woman’s rights rally (there were NO American flags at the first Democratic convention until the outcry changed that)…It is a hidden factor that her rallies divide Americans and to stir up hatreds…in fact everything she chides Trump for is what she IS. That is why all the election violence you see this year is from the Democrats.

Hillary’s hands are stained with blood, as she covers for the bloodiest cult of all, Islam. How anyone in their right mind could vote for this crook just shows how debased human nature really is. They will never totally wipe out Christian’s, because it is they that will be wiped off the face of the earth.
commented 2016-11-04 04:00:45 -0400
A person with any semblance of reality would not support the morally corrupt psychopath that is Hillary Clinton. It actually speaks volumes about the morality of those that do.
commented 2016-11-04 03:51:49 -0400
I love ya Ezra, but you’re totally wrong on this one.
commented 2016-11-04 02:32:39 -0400
No I do not think I am ideologically more pure, just a realist. Sometimes you have to admit you have lost and come up with better arguments and a better candidate next time. I am so glad that I don’t pay $8 a month for this garbage. Try submitting your articles to Breitbart for extra income.

That was excellent Ezra!! Dead on the money!!

May I offer . . . . it’s also a lack of creativity and courage on their part, because if the likes of Daniel Pipes were really that smart, they’d get creative, and figure out ways to run counter to the Leftists, while keeping their jobs, AND their dignity!!

Trump’s constituency and its motives is all that matters, party branding ideological pigeon holing is a pointless exercise for those who fail to grasp the significance of the events unfolding. – so far it will be a bloodless transition of power from a corrupt political machine back to populist democracy
commented 2016-11-03 22:09:54 -0400
The alternative to Trump when Hillary goes to jail is a CIA appointee….they will not put up with Obama pardoning Hillary or carrying on past his mandate….what she has done has precluded that outcome.
commented 2016-11-03 22:04:59 -0400
Jimmy Reece well they are allowed to have their opinion and many liberals will not vote for the corrupt pig Hillary, it goes both ways. And what BS is Trump saying or doing? Hillary and the left are the ones doing the BS.
commented 2016-11-03 20:40:31 -0400

Obviously you don’t know who Ben Shapiro is. Not to mention the fact that you are ignoring hard core conservatives that can see through Trump’s bullshit. It doesn’t mean that they will vote for Hillary, but they sure as shit can’t vote for Trump.
commented 2016-11-03 20:38:08 -0400
Anti-Trump Conservatives are dinosaurs staring at the asteroid of their extinction. the Alt right is a healty mix of populism, libertarianism, nationalism and Von Mises economics.

The GOP against Trump are so hooked into the corruption of access brokering, they need to go down with the treasonous anti-American Dems.
commented 2016-11-03 19:10:40 -0400
Jimmy Reece . . . . it’s only the Left that walk lock-step with closed minds !

Ezra, I agree. It is trendy to be Democrat (Liberal), because more university educated people vote Dem. Far better to be seen as an intellectual than a redneck.

The corruption runs very, very deep!

The “NeverTrump” gang are the insiders, the Establishment Dims and Repubs who don’t want the “Status Quo” to change. They have been shaking down the dopy taxpayers in the USA for decades.
Trump is America’s last, best hope . . . after 8 years of the “Community Organizer” who has Doubled the US Debt. The banana republic style Justice Dept has been stifling the Klinton Foundation investigation for almost a year . . .
Now the FBI is closing in on the Klinton Cartel . . . Huma will sing like a bird to keep herself out of jail.

Of course we in Canada just elected the “Establishment” to take control again . . . the Keybec Elites who are now spending us to Prosperity ! ! ! Does it get any dumber than Canooks?
commented 2016-11-03 15:28:04 -0400
I do know that Trump will be a better president than Hillary. That is the only metric we should use.
commented 2016-11-03 14:58:04 -0400
Or it could be just as conservative loved commentator Ben Shapiro said – he is not voting for Trump, because Trump isn’t a conservative in any capacity.

I remember when Ezra was actually taken aback by Ben Shapiro’s comments regarding Trump, especially consider that Ezra agrees with him on other things.
