Niqab ban: Which side is supporting Canadian values?

Brian LilleyArchive

The Harper government says it will introduce legislation soon to ban niqabs and face coverings at citizenship ceremonies and may go further.

NDP Leader Tom Mulcair and Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau say they will stand up for the Charter and oppose requiring people to show their faces.

Which side is supporting Canadian values?

Absolutely NO PLACE for this Mysogonistic Apparell ANYWHERE in Canada and CERTAINLY NOT in the COURTS where ALL are to be judged equally. The very fact that these Women wear this outfit results from the fact that Muslim MEN think it’s the ONLY WAY to deterring other MEN from Raping the Woman wearing it. Canada has LAWS that protect Women from Sexual Assault and allowing this Niqab/Burka Apparell in a Canadian Court of Law is an Insult to The Courts and the Government that applies the Laws to One and All…..Historically, You can be guaranteed that a WOMAN was NOT the Designer and Instigator of this Apparel ….. She wears it out of FEAR of being Beaten or Murdered by the MEN of her Faith should she NOT DO SO. We have already had Honour Killings on Canadian Soil because of this Archaic Nonesense, we need to take a stand NOW, ban it altogether.
On a more personal experience, I was stopped at a Stop Sign in a large Ajax Costco Lot today and nearly lost the front drivers side fender of a Left Turning Veh. Being driven by a Woman wearing a Niqab with the smallest of Eye Slits. I am positive that this near accident was because the Woman could not see properly to her left, and that my FULL SIZE SUV was obscured from her peripheral vision until she had nearly completed her turn. It was truly a close call.

What do you think the illustrious, very learned, know better than you, Justices at the SCOC will do when the government brings about this requirement? I am going to bet that they overturn the governments decision and side with Just-in True-dope and Mud-clear, and say it is against the Charter.
If (I hope and pray he does) Mr. Harper wins the election he should disband those ‘smarter than everyone else’ justices and start over again by having an election on who should sit as a SCOC justice.
Of course I also believe that Mr. Harper should also have Just-in True-dope and Mud-Clear arrested and deported to ISIS controlled Iraq. But I dream.

It’s becoming fairly clear from the SCOC, the Lieberals and the Dippers that what is going on here has nothing to do with rights. The intent is to destroy the values of our society. The side benefit is the opportunity to side step, smear, and annoy the elected Gov’t. along with anyone else who holds Canada’s values in high regard. Australia has it right. If you don’t like our values, don’t come here. If you’re already here, leave. No one will stop you!

If you have to wear a niqab then maybe you should move to Saudi Arabia where it’s more accepted. Here we value seeing people as people and not a sack of potatoes. I also agree with Cathy Rochford about the security concerns of it. Not in today’s jihadi phenomenon world. We don’t need criminals hiding themselves just because we want to be loving and tolerant to the intolerant.

Trudeau and Mulcair are engaged in ‘selling out’ our national Heritage and Culture….to garner a few votes. It’s ILLEGAL to cover your face in a lot of cases NOW…..whether you’re Muslim or not…..why not make it a Law? Canadians do NOT cover their faces, unless they’re in the process of committing an ILLEGAL act, like robbery or riot….so why permit FOREIGNERS to do so when they come to Canada? If they don’t LIKE it….then DON’T COME TO CANADA…..Please… Keep your third-world hell-hole 7th Century customs. (this is NOT a “Muslim religious requirement”) at home……or go back from whence you came.

I agree with Brian Lilley regarding the niqab ban under certain circumstances but I would go even further. If they want to wear this hellish looking head covering they should only be allowed to wear it in their own homes or in their mosques. What store owner or any other establishment should be subjected to such potentially threatening risks? I find it is very offensive to Canadians and it is a threat to security. It is a stepping stone to more security risks in airports, shopping malls, restaurants etc etc.

We need to ban the Niqab!!!!

Trudeau doesn’t care about the rights of all Canadians. I don’t want people walking around with their faces concealed. You can’t tell if it is a man or a woman, or what they might be carrying underneath all that cloth. We bend over backwards for immigrants, especially Muslims by the look of it. If they had any respect for their new country they would respect that in this country people don’t walk around concealing themselves, or at least they didn’t used to .
Glenn I couldn’t agree more, it is an insult. What about the right of freedom loving Canadians not to have to wonder who is under there, what else they are concealing and what might their intent be. I find it nerve racking.

It just makes good common sense to show your face when taking an oath to become a Canadian citizen. Why is this such an issue, it is not like we are saying we ban always and forever the Niqab. We are not saying this at all. Prime Minister Harper is right in saying he will introduce legislation to ban the niqab for citizenship ceremonies. I can’t wear my glasses when having my health card or license photo taken. I am told not to smile. It is hardly a wonder people are fed up. I think Trudeau and Mulcair are wrong on this issue. It is an honor to be welcomed to this country. Be proud to show your face and let us see that you are happy to be here.

Would this charter right apply to having a mug shot taken when you are arrested?

Is NOT wearing the niqab in circumstances where the woman is in a NO DANGER WHATSOEVER of being raped by men who’s lusts would overcome them at the mere sight of her face an insult to Islam? Because the suggestion that Canadian men are no better than that is an insult to Canada. Go seek refuge somewhere closer to Mecca (though I could understand the viewpoint that there is nowhere near Mecca, other than Israel ,where a woman would be as safe as Canada) . I want assurance that we are not granting citizenship to ISIS in drag.

I recall showing up at the security desk where you must be seen and identified before being admitted…wearing a ski mask and a Russian ushanka fur hat and in a sort of Pakistani/eastern European blend accent saying “In MY culture it is MEN…who must hide their FACES”……the commissionaires crack up laughing…..oh yeah that’s Glenn the MRA….no mistaking that…and they wave me in………:-)

Of course the lefties will scream about this.

Come to Canada become a Canadian – otherwise stay home and fight to create your own country in the manner you would like to see it..

In my opinion there has never been a country that received a net benefit from islamic immigration. In fact can anyone name me at least three actual benefits from islamic immigrants please?

Close the doors – now.

As war will come to Europe within the next generation – perhaps sooner – you can be sure Canada and the US of A will eventually follow – all from islamic immigration. The religion of islam always leads to violence as soon as their population numbers get to about 8%.

This hold true within any country they go to.

See Europe now? See us in another generation.

Canadian values? I used to know what they were – now I do not know – multiculturalism has killed the Canada I knew and will eventually turn it into a third world state.

The Charter is being used in a manner the founders did not see – and that manner is being used to destroy the Canada I grew up in.
