“Old school journalism” under attack in Quebec: Press freedom threatened by authorities

David MenziesMission Specialist

Normally I wouldn’t go to bat for the CBC, but two disturbing cases involving their French service Radio-Canada’s press freedom have arisen, and I have to call ‘em like I see ‘em.

The first case is equal parts bizarre and outrageous and the second attack on press freedom in Quebec is more serious and emanates not from the boys in blue but from the judiciary.

I’m not all that keen on those in law enforcement or the judiciary “regulating” the craft of journalism according to their whims, especially since in these cases, no actual crime – be it libel, slander or defamation – was ever committed.

Better the police and judges concentrate on actually putting the bad guys behind bars and allow journalists to be journalists.

Otherwise, we’ll all be residing in a country in which a free press is free in name only.

And that is not to disparage all Quebecers!… Here on Vancouver Island I met two brothers from Laval who moved here six years ago with their families just to get away from such “politics”… They run a very successful rental business, and, their kids go to the local school NOT the French immersion school!… Some true Canadians have evidently had it with Quebec’s B.S. style of doing things…

Quebec has been the ground zero of judicial activism for decades now… They have never been able to come to terms with, or rectify, or control, the corruption in their judiciary, political ranks, the “bridge building” unions, or the blatant vote buying in municipal politics… It’s just the way thing are done in La Belle Province… No wonder our Boy Blunder loves the Laurentian norm…

Freedom isn’t free. It has to be fought for. This disgrace needs to be fought.

WOE CANADA! Well left wing twits , you can not criticize this as you made judges Gods in such matters and Justin cannot intervene as you attack any conservative who does not want Judicial Activism , so choke on this and future censorship.
