The Toronto District School Board has caved to activist pressure and suspended the school resource officer (SRO) program while it undergoes a social justice litmus test.
The suspension was spearheaded by activist groups including Black Lives Matter and Education Not Incarceration, who are demanding the SRO program be ended entirely due to concerns over racial and anti-immigrant bias.
There have been no substantiated claims of black or immigrant students being unfairly targeted by these officers.
In fact, two government studies have shown that those are the students who benefit the most from the SRO program.
WATCH me explain the history and motivation behind the SRO program, and talk about the successes these anti-police groups don’t want you to know.
Shame on the TDSB for valuing the feelings of anti police activist movements more than they value the safety of thousands of Toronto kids trusted daily to their care.
