STEM not immune from PC: Scientists silenced in politicized field of climate study

Holly NicholasRebel Commentator

There’s a common misconception that science faculties at universities are free of the kind of political correctness that results in the silencing of debate and opinions, but this simply isn’t true.

This is particularly evident when it comes to real scientists who question climate science.

Two perfect examples can be seen in the cases of Dr. Judith Curry and Dr. Tim Ball who have been cast out of their circles for following the scientific method of questioning ideas.

Scientists like Curry and Ball are dismissed as “fake” which has the effect of rendering their remarkable bodies of lifelong work reduced to only their opinions on a contentious subject where there are legitimate concerns about the data.

The crazy thing is these scientists don’t deny that climate is changing yet they’re being completely delegitimized simply for doing their job of questioning science.

So what happens to science when we shut down debate? Who would the real fake scientists be in that situation?

Whether or not you agree with opposing opinions, this is the way science progresses and evolves. Science is never settled and must always be questioned.

But just like the silencing of ideas that’s happening to academics who refuse to bend to the thinking of the day on gender and social issues, so are the ideas of those in the sciences who dare to criticize climate dogma.

“William Kay commented 12 hours ago
Climate is constantly changing. The geological record shows wide, and sometimes rapid, swings in global temperature. The historical record from the last few thousand years also documents major climatic change. "
The rate is what is unprecedented. The end of the ice age took ten thousand years, a rate of change barely a tenth of what we’ve seen in the last century. Agricultural benefits are largely due to improved practices and strains, both developed by the same scientists advocating for climate change.

The most common counter-argument about climate change is the “pause”, which is incompatible.

“Our climate is controlled by a big ball of fire 93 million miles from here, and it doesn’t accept cash or credit card. Say that to them and see the response. They can not dispute it.” "

Did you know that the Moon’s average temperature, driven purely by solar radiation, is only about -20C, vs the +18 average seen on Earth? The rest of that warming is due to atmospheric heat retention, and carbon dioxide is responsible for about a fifth of that effect. If you divide out how much CO2 we’ve added, by the scale of the effect, the numbers agree with observed warming. Pure coincidence, I guess?

Climate is constantly changing. The geological record shows wide, and sometimes rapid, swings in global temperature. The historical record from the last few thousand years also documents major climatic change. Such changes cannot be attributed to industrial activity. The slight warming of the past 120 years has been: a) within the range of natural temperature changes; b) beneficial for agriculture.

In the 1970s an international campaign began to transition global energy production away from oil and coal. This favours regions un-endowed with oil and coal deposits. The Climate Industrial Complex (wind turbines, solar panels, electric cars etc) is now a $1.5 trillion a year leviathan – too big to fail.

(PS Holly still ain’t taking a stand on CAGW)

CAROLE MASSE’—-Great point, they are giving the West hell for not having enough babies, while the Middle East and Africa breed so many that they have to invade the West to survive. They bring their lives of crime with them. (70% in France’s jails are Muslim ). Probably the same in the UK, but the numbers are hidden by the Police and Politicians, therefore leaving the once strong population to actually think that they still live in a Democracy. The British Bulldog is DEAD. You British are a disgrace to the Commonwealth letting scum like Tony Blair and Cameron lie to you about out of control immigration.
This is likely your last quarter century as British Citizens; enjoy the end ." You get what you vote for."

Glenn Craig, thank you for calling out Suzuki! How many bogus studies does he have to support before people finally realize he is a purveyor of BS. He is invited to speak to countless children and his speeches basically tell them their parents are losers and they must confront & insist on reducing climate change! His flights to attend these events must create a huge carbon footprint…he is a snake oil salesman who deserves to be dropped off on an ice floe!
commented 2017-05-27 21:32:08 -0400
In light of progressive ideology i now proclaim climate a social construct, so no matter what i do, my feelings abolish all of my carbon footprint. Therefore i am now totally green. Man i should have done this a long time ago.

Andrew we never denied it changes, it is you fools who think we cause it and ignore evidence that it changed before we used fossil fuels.
commented 2017-05-27 21:08:57 -0400
@Andrea Stephenson….one of David Suzuki’s favourite rants (before I called him out on it and he desided to drop it) was a shaming comparison in the energy demands and usage of someone on the Indian subcontinent compared to that of a Canadian.

My response was…if that is the case….then each and every immigrant we accept from that part of the world proportionally pro-rates the crime….because let’s face it….they are not going to turn down their thermostats when they get here….and when they acheive prosperity here….they are going to build mansion sized homes and they will prefer prestige cars over a Prius….would it not then be preferable to grant Canadians seasonal ex-pat status in their country and shut Canada down in the winter?

Andrew Stephenson commented – “It’s interesting how the Denier talking points have gone from denying the climate’s changing to accepting that.”

It’s good that Climate hysterics are seeing there is logic in the “denyer” argument – shows you may have some capacity for critical thinking – maybe the’s hope there as well.

AFAIC – the popular scientific skepticism to the climate crisis theory has never denied the climate changes – the scientific argument has always been about if the change constitutes a crisis and the weight of the factors in change. – and the facts on the ground show there is no warming crisis either measured or experienced – it exists only in models ….which have been proven to have horrible math errors. Climate temp measurements are well within acceptable historic norms.

Very good post Bill Elder.
I think we can add willful blindness to the equation.

People may think President Trump’s talk was all a bunch of malarchy – well, he had the balls to tell the world about the problems associated with Islamists – right to the Islamists’ faces
Anyone want to guess what the reaction is going to be when he tells the Fraudsters that they are done???
-already TruDope thinks he will be able to “teach” the POTUS the “facts” –
I can see this getting ugly!
Biggest LIE = CO2 is a pollutant. – same kind of lie as the “religion of peace”.
commented 2017-05-27 18:01:20 -0400
It’s interesting how the Denier talking points have gone from denying the climate’s changing to accepting that. There’s hope yet.

As for the human influence, it’s fair to question it, but questioning it is not the same thing as declaring it “fake”.
commented 2017-05-27 17:49:47 -0400
If humans are the problem, why do they never talk about the overpopulation in the Middle-East, Africa and the 3rd world countries which are having kids like rabbits and multiple wives. It is not the West that grows exponentially but we must pay for the irresponsability of others. The whole scam is only for the enrichment of the financial class and to finance more wars so that that class seizes the natural ressources and assets of the countries they target. Climate change is capitalism gone wild and inhumane. Those leftist thugs have no idea that they play exactly in the hands of the super rich who don’t give a damn about them.
commented 2017-05-27 17:47:39 -0400
Good hypothesis, Bill.

There is ample evidence to prove your theory.
commented 2017-05-27 17:20:53 -0400
PC (aka: Cultural Marxist censorship and narrative spinning) has certainly infected the science dept. Witness the latest unproven hypothesis which masquerade as scientific fact: (A) western man is heating the planet (global temps have been cooling) (B) this constitutes a crisis (earth has been warmer and life flourished) © CO2 is a crisis gas (CO2 has been much higher in the past and plant life flourished) (D) there are more than 2 sexes (self evidently wrong). (E) glaciers are melting (most are actually growing) (F) Polar ice caps are shrinking (Satellite images reveal they are growing).

I’m going to advance a new hypothesis: leftism is a viral neurological disease which infects specific areas of the brain and turns off the infected victim’s capacity for reason and their moral compass. It is spread by Marxist rats kept in university science labs.

The biggest bloody hoax in the history of mankind.
commented 2017-05-27 16:51:17 -0400
Anthropogenic climate change is a load of top quality horse shit.

I am not a climate change denier. Climate has been changing since the earth began and will continue until the earth ceases to exist.

What I deny is this pack of lies about humans changing the climate of the earth by emitting CO2. Bull manure!

The hundreds of billions flushed down the “AGW” toilet into the pockets of the disgusting sewer rats (politicians, traitorous scientists, UN scum) could be better spent on infrastructure to mitigate the devastating effects of extreme weather events and to cleaning up the real pollution such as waste land fill sites, toxic waste dumps, dumping of raw sewage into the oceans, improving recycling, etc.
commented 2017-05-27 16:41:40 -0400
These Global Warming Scientists, who are highly paid by the UN, talk about climate change being caused by the actions of Mankind. They talk about Oceans warming, one of their favorites. How long would it take to warm the Pacific Ocean by one degree? If the oceans are warming it is due to something that happened hundreds of years ago. There is nothing that we can do about it.

Did we not have a record year for Ice in the North Atlantic, this last Winter?

This is nothing more than out and out robbery by dishonest Politicians/Gangsters. We the public are being shafted by Political Scum. The current Canadian PM is a good example.
commented 2017-05-27 16:29:35 -0400
It’s not about science at all, it’s about the narrative: globalism.
Climate change, and its resultant economics of taxation and subsidization, contributes to the leveling of incomes (except for the ultra-rich) to achieve a pseudo-Marxist Leninist society.
The narrative also dictates that the entire world is ONE community (open borders) and only the true believers (the sheep) will inherit a green earth.
The goal is to eventually have the utopia we all yearn for.
But will the price of a truly “green” socialist planet come with having to accept an Islamist society as well?
Connect the dots people.

APPOLO 13…“Huston we have a problem”

HUSTON….“Appolo this is Huston…How dare you question the peer reviewed work of scientists”

This attitude is what caused Chernobyl to melt down during a disaster response drill.
