"Roseanne" without Roseanne is doomed to fail

Kurt SchlichterHost of Take That

On the last episode of Take That, I reported on ABC's plan to bring back the TV series "Roseanne" without the show's title star.

I think this is a plan that's doomed to fail, it's like "Star Trek" without Captain Kirk or "Happy Days" without The Fonz. Sure it may have the rest of the cast, but the main attraction is absent.

Hollywood already allowed "Solo" to flop thanks to its needless politicization, do they really think their plan for "Roseanne" is going to work?

Without Roseanne, the show will be as interesting as watching paint dry!

ron joseph,

I don’t think it’s a case of them saying they never liked her, but they recognize that she has a huge problem and they frankly don’t want to work with her now. Some of the cast were not going to return to the show if ABC didn’t dump Roseanne, so one way or another, the show was not going to be the same.

Tony Stark…I wasn’t aware that the staff was happy without Rosanne. Its fairly common when the Star that made the staff popular, is down and out , the staff distance themselves by saying " I never liked her."

ron joseph,

Another network can’t just take over the show. Besides, the cast and crew want nothing to do with her. They couldn’t be happier about doing The Connors and Roseanne has given the spin off her blessing.

Fox should take over Roseanne with her in it, after all she did apologize and she has Blacks in her family.
As a precedent, look at the terrible things that Maxine the dog Waters says and does, and she still represents the people.

Maybe. Maybe not. It will do huge ratings for the first couple of shows and then we will see what happens.

Honestly, my wife and I were watching the Roseanne reboot and she was the least interesting character. We were more interested in the Darlene, Becky and Dan storylines.

I wouldn’t exactly place Roseanne in the same importance as The Fonz or Captain Kirk – who are universal iconic characters. You are laying on the hyperbole a little thick there, Kurt.
