Liberal mayor of Montreal Denis Coderre says he's opposing the Energy East pipeline, a $15 billion project to send Canadian ethical oil from Alberta to Quebec and on to New Brunswick.
Coderre hasn't opposed other pipelines, especially the one that brings OPEC conflict oil from Portland to Montreal.
But he's against Energy East in the name of science or environmentalism or something. Except pipelines are the safest way to transport oil. That's been proven.
Yeah, Coderre is such an environmentalist. Like late last year when he released a billion liters of raw, untreated human sewage into the St. Lawrence river.
Now, obviously, grandstanding mayors don’t get to decide things like national pipelines. That's clear from our constitution.
But who will Trudeau, the ultimate decider, side with?
The side with jobs and growth in New Brunswick and elsewhere?
Or with the sewage mayor of Montreal?
