"They're lying": G7's vow to go carbon-free by 2100 is just hot air

Marissa SemkiwArchive

The G7 leaders have just vowed to create a "no carbon" economy by 2100. One of those leaders was Stephen Harper.

Some were disappointed that the Canadian PM would sign on to this pointless promise, but Sun columnist Lorrie Goldstein tells me what was behind that decision.

He also says that other G7 leaders, including Obama, are lying about this pledge and they know it. Just look at their actions at home when it comes to energy production and use.

PS: Goldstein also talks about "the two fuels of the future." They aren't what you might think.

Look at the CPC’s latest commercial about Trudeau, it says he’s “just not ready”… Maybe sometime in the future, just not now. Oh, don’t you worry Trudeau, your globalist masters will have a use for you in the future.

Eileen McCrae is correct, this is Agenda 21 and Harper is serving it because he won’t have to enforce it, passing the buck for some future “liberal” depopulation psychopath to take the reigns.

Logic would tend to suggest there is a lot of futuristic hope and change at play in this “declaration”.
The most charitable way to look at this would probably see a huge worldwide nuclear power plant building program to replace present day coal fired plants now coming online. The second stage would depend on fusion power becoming a practical reality. This reality would require highly advanced robot technology and metallurgy because of the fact that while fusion power can ideally be produced in vast amounts with zero air pollution, the fusion “reactors” themselves will become permanently highly radioactive after being switched on such that no human could survive doing any work required to maintain them, even when they aren’t producing power.

Jimmy, Tyson is a well educated businessman and now also a preacher. He condescendingly suggests we should take our cues from nature as proof we are responsible. I’m not buying it. Do I believe the climate is evolving? yes, it has been since its inception. Do I believe man has much of anything to do with it? No. Do I believe we could live greener and cleaner? Sure, we can all do things to keep the pen tidier, but if we don’t, the earth will do it over time for us. We are but a bunch of fleas on the back of a wet dog. When alternatives to nuclear, oil and gas are efficient and cost effective is when we will be using them. It won’t work otherwise. Tyson has jumped on the bandwagon because he thinks it will get him where he wants to go. He is misusing his scientific knowledge and the result is the opposite of helpful. The Climate Change industry is a sucker punch to a decent standard of existence for all people on the planet. No matter what China says, they won’t put any breaks on their emissions, if it hampers their growth. As Lorrie says we should be showing them how to do it cleaner, not telling them they can’t have what we have ," sorry but you don’t get to" . It is all a game. I have no respect for the snake oil salesmen.

Lorrie’s take always impresses me. Not emotional, just plain saying about what’s happening. His take on why Harper looks like he’s playing into it makes a lot of sense. He won’t lose anybody over it. He has no choice at the moment.

I’m always impressed when Lorrie speaks. He’s knowledgeable about his topic, honest and straight forward. Eighty-five years from now all these politicians will be long out of office and dead so it’s an easy promise to make. Who knows what the world will be like in 2100 or what will have been developed to replace current energy sources. Making this promise will not have alarmed any of Harper’s base of support and since the whole G7 signed on to it , it will take a little air out of Trudeau’s carbon/climate rantings.

Politicians are always reluctant to dump any scams that contain huge tax grabs plus almost unlimited wealth for their rent seeking pals and close relatives.

Lorrie, wind and solar will be made obsolete because of Liquid Thorium Fluoride Reactors, if we can get off our butts and build them. Cheap power for a 1000 years.

Thanks Lorrie, Marissa. Politics at its best. PR and BS. Back in the 70’s air and water was polluted. Clean change was made with new technology not clean energy.

Lorrie did his homework. Thanks, Lorrie.
We can spend more to find viable alternatives to carbon energy but until we do find them we can’t reduce carbon emissions significantly without creating worse problems.

James, also, what about trains, boats and planes?

Yep, they are lying, absolute fraud, a “pointless promise”

zero emissions The only good thing is they will all be dead by 2100 lets freeze in the dark Cut your breathing by 25 per cent see if you can

All comments always miss one of the big users of fuel, trucks, and industry machines, I drive a truck wow, the fuel, all run on diesel, which one get about 1/3 diesel to 2/3 gasoline, from a barrel, so all cars go electric, what happens to the gas? When the big heavy equipment can run efficiently some alternative, " The Pee of the mountain goat" we will be stuck with efficient fossil fuels.

Get tired of so called conservatives bashing conservatives. May as well just came out and said Harper is lying! The climate debate is out of control with the environmentalists winning or won. Harper has to get this issue put to bed. Nothing is going to get done in Canada that’s energy related without including environmentalists . Hopefully this will stalemate the climate debate for the election. Being a hard liner against climate change is just going to isolate Canada. A no win for Conservative’s.

Of course they are lying – and it does not matter to any of us – we will all be dead by then. But is DOES sound good to the environ-Nazis.

Just a bunch of hypocrites calling Canada names to make her make some sort of promise.

People from China come here and they take pictures of the blue sky – because they never see it in Beijing.

Chretien did this very successfuly with the Kyoto Accord. If this “defangs” some of the rabid lefties, then it was worthwhile. Our country will not fall under the jack boot of a Socialist / Communist Totalitarian rule anytime soon! There was a rumour (unsubstantiated) that PET was considering appointing himself “Ruler Of Canada” because only he, knew what was best for this country! It never came true of course, however his son shares the same sentiments (Look at his manipulation of the Liberal Party on issues like abortion). The Dippers would tolerate totalitarion rule with support from Trudope if it kept them in power to implement their extreme socialist agenda on Canada, that leading to Communism, which their membership in Socialist/Communist International implies. This coming election is pivotal. It will determine whether we remain a constitutional democracy or descend into an oppressed state!

Harper is under attack by the Warmists and doing an empty promise.
commented 2015-06-09 19:16:48 -0400
Andy, I am sorry, but the links you provided show factual data that contradicts the Global Warming theory, so therefore it is all a lie and will be ignored by the “science-is-settled” GW alarmists crowd. :)

With the next solar sunspot cycle (called cycle #25 by solar scientists) predicted to be the coolest since a ‘cool’ sun in the period known as the Maunder Minimum brought on the Little Ice Age, this is not the time to de-carbonize the atmosphere, adding to the cooling effect worldwide and wrecking the Western world’s economies in the process. Someone has to start telling the public this truth before the damage wrought by the lie of global warming in the 21st Century is irreversible. There has been no global warming in this century, i.e. since 1997, 18 years ago, despite booming CO2 emissions. The IPCC knows this and has the evidence that proves it, but they overlay it with the false narrative of man-made global warming, which is a blatant falsehood. Don’t believe them; check out the evidence that belies the propaganda that is intended to transfer massive amounts of money in the form of carbon penalties from the industrialized nations to the developing nations. Do a search of: Call it the mystery of the Missing Thermometers and read the article by Richard Foot and see how the data has been manipulated by omitting cooler temperatures, making the world appear progressively warmer than it actually is.

I enjoy hearing the level-headed approach Lorrie always expresses.

So, what will they use in 2100 to make plastic and for lubrication of metal against metal if all oil production is stopped? This “promise” to stop all oil production (and by extension all CO2 emissions) is all a load of crap.

However, if Harper making this promise wins point in the idiot environmental extremists crowd and the lefties in Canada, then it is a good move.

According to JAXA’s Co2 measuring satellite, Canada is already a net co2 sink, our forests absorb a lot more than we emit. So to get to a carbon neutral state we will need to increase production… A lot. Also the third world emits far more Co2 than they absorb, they owe us reparations.

It’s wonderful to hear common sense for a change. What a breath of fresh air. Thanks, Marissa and Lorrie.
