“Trans"-forming the Canadian Human Rights Act: Socialist MP wants to add “gender identity”

Brian LilleyArchive

Government is mucking about with our rights again.

NDP MP Randall Garrison has put forward C-279, which "amends the Canadian Human Rights Act to include gender identity as a prohibited ground of discrimination."

I’m opposed to that because I don’t think we need to parcel out rights to each and every group.

We're all individuals and we're all created equal. That means we already have natural rights, no matter what "identity group" we happen to belong to.

Am I being "transphobic"? I don't think so, but given the current atmosphere, maybe I do sound like a "radical."

We either have liberty or we don’t have liberty. We all have a God given right to discrimnate and we are craxy to relenquish that right to politicians , activists and judges.

It’s ok because like you he’s ‘secretly’ a Freemason, although unlike you he’s not a publically confessed Catholic, which means not much evidently, to a Freemason.

There is a treasure trove of arguments from all who posted comments.
Please distribute the summary to the House and let us know you did. Myself I would go to my MP and ask of his action. I would like him to know that other MP’s will be “on it” too.
Maybe to the Commons too, they could use some common sense… And by the way, how constitutional would be the addition to the Act. How does it interfere with the international approach on human rights?

On another thought, let me know if you intend to get some Rebel flyers. I could distribute quite a few…

When Leftist talk about “human rights” (and the whole concept of rights as being “human” or endowed by governments, is a Marxist construct) this is code for group-based entitlements – essentially giving social groups a special “mulligan” or exemption from civil propriety to which people outside this group or lower on the Human rights pecking order, do not have. Being in one of the special labeled HR “groups” is an exemption from the responsibility to prove injury or merit to receive government vended compensation or special consideration.

When a cultural Marxist relegates a particular social group or cultural sub group to a “Human rights” pigeon hole, they are exempting that group from the responsibilities of due process and appropriate redress to the courts as a perennial pre-qualified “victim” – a victim who is exempt from proving damage (this is assumed by the very nature of the group classification) – they have a lifetime claim on society for some nebulous inferred damage – even if said damage is illusory .

It’s the same old social class shell game the left has played for years taken to a point where it is undermining basic equity in rule of law.

Joan Abernethy there is a very simple thing to solve this. We are all equal under the Human Rights Act and therefore no special treatment of one human over another. You are no better then I and I am no better then you. Bigotry will always be apart of society because government in all its forms cannot control anyone’s thoughts or actions. Only punish them for their actions. Although this HRA activist want to do just that. Gay people can be bigots as well as black people or Muslims or Jews. This is not a white man’s soul domain. The law should be equal for everyone.

Kenneth, 1,000 is the wrong numeral, of course. In fluid gender, the number is n+1.

Well said Kenneth

“The lunatics, apparently, now OWN the asylum!”
Exactly right. They are in the process of stealing the civilized society our ancestors built on Judeo-Christian principles and precepts, and redefining the human race in terms of an ever-expanding maelstrom of genders, which THOU SHALT NOT QUESTION! A guest on Bill Maher a couple of weeks ago told Maher (who had just acquiesed to the idea of 14 genders) that in fact, there were at least 1,000 genders! You should have seen Maher’s jaw drop. Even as politically correct and outright deluded a leftist hack as he is, could not fathom what he was hearing. I’m hoping it will shock him into realizing what is being done to our society by the Jew-hating, Christian-hating left that is intent on destroying the civilized legacy built by our ancestors.

Hey Brian … Randy too …while they have the HRA open, why not carpe diem to make law special protections for straight, white, Judeo-Christian men? Make the argument you are oppressed; you never know – it just might fly. After all, it’s no more bizarre a claim than the other claims.

Well one thing I understand is that there is no such thing as Human Rights. Are not all Human? According to the Human Rights advocates, we are not human. We are just people. That way a gay person will have more rights then a straight person. While a Muslim person will have more rights then a Christian. While a woman will have ,ore rights then a guy. While a black woman will have more rights then a white woman. ECT., ECT., ECT….. So you see we have gay rights, black rights, woman rights, religious rights, Christ even Animal rights!!!!! Lol … But there is no such thing as Human rights because we are all human.

Mucking about with social norms is the bedfellow of the left. We had a Human Rights Act before Trudeau and it worked. We do not need to make the current Charter into a quagmire of technocratic complexity to feed the pockets of lawyers and labour leaders.

If you watch this cbc documeatary, you learn that the goal of the left is to abolish the concept of gender all together. You know, that fluidity thing:

Of course, if our ID documents no longer allow identity to be confirmed by sex (yes, they want to remove sex ID from DL, pasorts, birth certificates) and we are all allowed, even required, to cover ourselves in the full niqab burka fashion, how much easier will it become for gangsters, terrorists and oppressive government to steal, murder, terrorize and control us all with impunity and absolutely no accountability?

The very suggestion that trangendered individuals need special mention under the HRA suggests those promoting this do not believe the transgendered are persons already protected under the law as unique individuals. Shame on them for their prejudice!
commented 2015-03-01 13:27:02 -0500
Supposingly the gender or group identity is included. The leaders of the group will define, outside the legal environment, how many genders or subgroups are to be recognized and what will be the conditions required to belong.
In itself this will be a discriminatory act. And the group will cry DISCRIMINATION! anytime they will not get what they demand. Old destabilization tactics. Call them any -ism, it belongs there.

This sounds like a big joke. It’s ridiculous to create a human rights amendment for a handful of people. This waste of time will be thrown out if they are not a panel of loons.

Perhaps our society isn’t seeking equality at all. Perhaps our society simply wishes to persecute caucasian males. Wouldn’t is be simpler to change the proposal to read “only caucasian males may be persecuted or discriminated against” and save thousands of further “identity” proposals? Or maybe we should have a brutal military dictatorship as was attempted by that crazy caucasian male Hitler? Moderation is incomprehensible in this society as we all seek to be “special”. At some point though we as a society must come to the realization that we are all equal and all the campaigning by the special interest groups do not make them more equal.

Gender is a physical description of the parts that you were born with, gender identity is how you personal feel about those parts .The first is a biological fact the is not.

Mr. Lilley, I agree with you on this. By creating specific groups against which there should be NO discrimination, one is blurring the entire issue of discrimination. The law should state that absolutely NO person should be discriminated against, period! One could be an Afro-Canadian, French speaking, 60 year old, Muslim, paraplegic, trans-gendered human being, and the law protects your rights. What if one was a 35 year old, English speaking Canadian of Caucasian descent, Christian, heterosexual human being with no physical impairments, and being of sound mind who is pro-life, etc.? Is there a group for this individual’s rights to be protected? No! And this is the worst kind of discrimination that is termed reverse discrimination which, like it or not, is invariably shown by those that fit into the identifiable groups.

Good one Brian. Thought provoking. Should we become entirely consumed by the socialists view of minority rights we will eventually be legally and philosophically controlled by the few…and left incarcerated by our own weakness.
