This week, Ivanka Trump paid a surprise visit to the Norwalk Early College Academy in Connecticut. Though the elementary school students there were given the opportunity of a lifetime to interact with a First Daughter, some of the parents are throwing a fit because they were not given advance notice of her visit. The parents claim that they would have wanted to keep their children home from school to protest against Donald Trump.
"This should have been brought to our attention, although I do understand security reasons. I think we should have had the choice to send our child to school or keep them home,” Karey Fitzgerald, a Norwalk Early College Academy parent, told News 12 Connecticut.
Despite the lack of notice, some parents were able to pull their kids from class once they were told of Ivanka's visit.
Ivanka Trump is a brilliant woman who is a successful entrepreneur in her own right and has done absolutely nothing in her life that would make her a bad role model for young girls -- other than the fact that she is President Trump's daughter.
Ivanka has taken a far more hands-on role than any other first daughter in modern history, trying to use her position in the White House to do as much good as she can. Despite this, she has been hit with relentless sexist attacks by the left, the worst of which have even implied that she had a sexual relationship with her own father.
Can you imagine what would happen if parents pulled their children from school upon learning Malia Obama was visiting? We can: the parents would be accused of racism. Can you imagine what would happen if an incestuous connection was implied between Barack and Malia Obama? We can: the entire country would be accused of racism and worse.
Sadly, Ivanka and her family appear to be fair game for attack. It's a shame that the closed-mindedness of the parents at this school robbed their children of the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet with a sitting president's daughter.
