"We've become a generation of lost, confused and angry people"

Lauren SouthernArchive

I've always found it sad that we spend most of our times in universities deconstructing and destroying culture and tradition instead of creating any.

This is the problem with post-modernism, and deconstruction of older values. We’ve deconstructed religion, race, gender roles, tradition, the nuclear family -- and much more.

What have we left ourselves with? A generation of lost and confused individuals with no identity.

One look at the profile of a teenager on Tumblr is a testament to the confusion that has taken a hold of my generation. People's gender, sexuality and even species are changing on the weekly.

To be fair, no one wants to be held down by societal constraints. No one wants to be forced to have a certain religion, two and a half kids, a white picket fence and a dog named Spot. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, it’s just not a life that’s going to suit everyone.

But instead of just being open to other ideas than this nuclear family and traditional lifestyle, what postmodernism has wrought is the deconstruction and rejection of all old ideas, most of which still hold a lot of value.

There were bad aspects of more traditional conservatism; no one can deny it had its own age of censorship and bullying tactics.

But instead of just throwing away the bad we threw away the whole basket the good along with it.

Radical feminists are calling for the destruction of the nuclear family. I'm having friends denied from University art programs because their art is too realistic and not abstract enough. Ideas of patriotism, identity and religious values are spat on by the institution.

I believe our acceptance of new ideas and different people is a positive thing, but our intense rejection of all the ideas of tradition and past values has made us a lost, angry and confused generation.

The rebel is an anger machine, you work for them. Show me one article on here that’s creative and calming. More hypocrisy from the rebel.

Well said Lauren, The feminazis spew more hate than most and we are expected to be tolerant of them. I thought that there was hate literature, speech, etc laws in Canada!

Michael Mann Gordo Steele, no, you never admit anything when you are caught, and no, you are not entertaining, you are pathetic and pathetically visible. Go back to the CBC.

Our world is a modern art museum. Without objective morality we are left floundering to subvert and flip tables with nothing new to add to the world. It’s an open sewer of cynicism and empty laughter. Why? Because we don’t believe in anything other than our empty, greedy selves and can’t escape the blackness of nihilism we consume so much to avoid. That’s why we hide behind reality with social justice, self-righteousness, and ignorance. It’s the only way to hide behind the fact that this world is objectively meaningless and so are we. What’s the point of waiting until you’re 80 to die when you can cut to the chase and do it now? Mask it with sex, food, money, whatever you want. Either you were put here for a reason and your life has meaning, or you weren’t and therefor you have no purpose existing at all.

It’s time to face the facts, Millenials. There is either an endless void, or there is not. Stop hiding, and make your choice. Secular humanism is a lie on either side of the fence.

Whenever the leftists try to deconstruct something, they always end up with the same conclusion. They will always say that things got that way because of some sort of oppression. And that the answer is equality. Only problem is, leftists have a really backwards definition of equality. In just about all cases, the leftist definition of equality means that somebody else with more has to give up something. The leftists automatically jump to the conclusion that a disparity only happened because of inequality from oppression , and that has to be fixed with government regulation.

I do like you Lauren and you’re one of the rebels, I have no particular qualms with (unlike some of the other bloggers, despite out differences in political , movement based and environmental ideologies.(I consider myself to be a humanist , egalitarian, and non-radical feminist . I embrace the positives of each era while recently becoming more critical of the negatives . I care about social justice but don’t support SJWS. I also believe in climate change.)

In a sense, I agree that perhaps we’ve deconstructed too much as we have some radical feminists hostile towards the trans community , females (including other feminists) who like “feminity” in their appearance but don’t feel obligate because of sex or gender ,people who like consensual sexual practices that include consensual PIV (penis in vagina), and even BDSM practitioners who partake in healthy and consensual BDSM .
I’m the opposite in the including in the fact, that I also support the LGBT+ community and non-binary individuals. I don’t have an issue with mature people who willingly choose the sex or porn industry (even if they’re not career paths I would choose .)

And then we have the wacko faction that attack and mistreat non-militant Muslims who aren’t partaking in abhorrent acts or condoning . them

Anyway,I don’t have a problem with people who have a nuclear family , but they’re not the only valid type (and I know you’re fine with the non-nuclear types .)

I feel we have some substantial common ground in our beliefs and would get along just fine , if we ever met or conversed and we’re both Canadian lol.

Have a great day

Keep up the fight Lauren. It makes us feel that we weren’t the only one who raised our children with values an critical thinking skills.

D Mary,

It’s so funny that you think I am this Gordo Steele guy. If I actually was – I would admit it. You being so convinced is very entertaining.

What did I say that was clueless and nasty? Do you really think people and society were the same in the greed is good 80’s as they were in the 50’s.

Lauren I am so glad that there is a young women like you in the world today and at a university! Please be loud! There are excellent, well thought out comments here, except of course Michael Mann who remains clueless and nasty.
You don’t have to be the smartest bulb in the tanning bed, as long as you have cash. Small wonder idiots can get an “education” in some random, obscure, esoteric bunch of nothing and feel like they are accomplished, when under normal circumstances they would have been passed over, and will need a government job to apply this liberal BS while getting paid. Lack of real intellect and critical thinking leads to their narrow-mindedness, the old adage, “A little knowledge is dangerous.” It’s easy for anyone to philosophise while with not a clue about the depth of the human condition of fellow human beings. Thus, the Liberal credo, “The world would be so much better if everybody did (fill in the blank)” and for some reason they know exactly what goes in the blank.
If readers are interested about what Liberalism is doing to Western values/institutions, Niall Ferguson is recommended reading. He has written numerous books on the subject including: The Great Degeneration: How Institutions Decay and Economies Die. I also suggest The Munk debates include great leaders and thinkers debating on what is happening in the West, and why we find ourselves in this parallel universe (www.munkdebates.com)

Well said, LAUREN SOUTHERN, and it even applies to our Zoolander PM – he was never taught wholesome priorities. He is just a stupid rich kid Zoolander. Others in his cabinet, ridiculous priorities reflect they are lost. Tradition, solid values, is all smoke and mirrors turned into political correctness. Character quality today is an inch deep and a mile wide, instead of an inch wide and much depth. Sick, just plain sick.

you are correct, there is a group of people who are lost, confused, and angry, but they still make up a small percentage of people, they just have big voices, most others just ignore and live on. unfortunatley…the squeaky wheel gets attention…from law makers who’s IQ’s have been trained in the world of compromise…

I agree 100% — just wish I had the skills to put it out like that — this should be made available in some format for everyone so they could frame it and put it on the wall. Congratulations!

Eileen McRae…this generation doesn’t know the meaning or morals…or compass come to think of it.
commented 2016-02-04 12:29:50 -0500
Do you ever consider that the answer may be that this generation has lost its moral compass? When there no longer is a “line” that delineates what is acceptable from what is unacceptable, what is “right” from what is “wrong”, what is legal from what is illegal, what is true from what is false, etc., mass confusion results. Identity is lost without a moral compass.

Values start at the home, but nowadays schools are pushing radical leftist teachings. People should not be allowed to vote, unless they have worked at least 10 yrs. But we have voters living off mommy and daddy who have no clue or common sense.

“We’ve become a generation of lost, confused and angry people”

Absolutely Lauren – considering the primary function of modern media, academia, practical politics and PC tribalism is to create warring factions in society, chewing at each other’s throats (as a diversion), while the power elite loot the treasury and sell our birthright from under us, – you can see a mirror image of the technique and practical application of social policy the Romans developed for controlling occupied territories which they made into Roman provinces. The culture war is a deceptive portmanteau, for the real war occurring globally – that is the centralized concentration of economic and political power beyond the sovereign nation-state and the control of its electorate. Sovereignty and borders are collapsing to a monied elite constructing a global ruling order through treaty

While we are bickering between ourselves and have grouped up into tribes calling for official pogroms against each other, our elite have sold our freedoms, sovereignty and wealth to a global governing clique aligned with global finance. So don’t focus on the fight between two fleas on the dog’s back, pay attention to who controls the dog and where they are taking it.

“It’s pretty pathetic when society changes their values/morals due to opinions of 18-22 year olds. The gene-pool is definitely regressing.”

Leftists are running the media, the universities and the governments, they dictate the agenda, they know how to organize and intimidate. Such a small group of individuals , controlling the mass of ignoramus , Orwell, Rand , Bastiat all new what was coming.

Canada as defined by Trudeau is to be open, inclusive and diverse – a country that stands for everything and at the same time stands for nothing. We will be everyone’s friend, yet friends with no one. Canada a country undefined and without direction.

I’m not lost or confused! In fact I like the direction the world is headed. Having said that, I’m concerned about the leftist ideologies that are pervasive today. I have a simple philosophy and treat people based on how they behave so yes, I racial profile. I’m not afraid of being called a racist.

When the leftists try to be constructive, they end up coming up with the dumbest ideas possible.

Lauren, you should have met my feminist sociology professor who taught social change. I went into the course thinking that I would learn stuff like urban sprawl. Instead, the professor suggested bulldozing all residential areas, and rebuilding it in such a way where everybody would have a piece of property of equal size to their neighbor. No, I am not making this up.

And just in case you are wondering, I barely passed the course. At the time, due to the circumstance I was in, I had no choice but to take that course, if I wanted to graduate that term. On the plus side, at least I don’t have to worry about feminist pedagogy any more.

Drew, Michael Mann Gordo Steele never went to any post secondary institution of higher learning, he was a union meat packer for Peter Pocklington his entire pathetic career, just a taker, a program teat suckler.
commented 2016-02-04 02:35:14 -0500
Drew, as you will recall, Michael Mann Gordo Steele said on the Sun that dead burned black men were “smoked meat,” and he didn’t even deny it. He has not changed, just another alias, but Gordo Steele is as always truly pathetic.

Michael Mann were you one of those guys in University that did everything the feminazis told you to do and then you could never figure out why you never got laid, also were you then mired in confusion when those same women hooked up with guys who treat them like garbage.

Rebellation: Michael Mannie Mann Gordo Steele was just confirming what we have known about him for a long time now. He is a pathetic little waste and not worth the time, and yes, he opened his mouth and removed all doubt, again.

Micheal Mann sorry but we are not moving forward. Now go treat blacks like helpless infants who need handouts and special rights to survive.
