"What a disgrace": Notley snubs U.S. Congressional delegation to Alberta oil sands

Ezra LevantRebel Commander

The U.S. purchases about 99% of Canada's oil exports. Sometimes American leaders from both parties visit the oil sands to see them for themselves.

A Congressional delegation visited last week, headed by Republican presidential candidate and powerful senator, Lindsay Graham.

Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall personally escorted them around, while lobbying for the Keystone XL pipeline.

When the delegation stopped off in Alberta, though, Premier Rachel Notley refused to meet with them.

What a disgrace.

It was only when the Wildrose opposition party embarrassed them that the NDP scrambled into action.

Do you need anymore proof that the NDP hates the oil sands?

Alberta’s NDP is using a fake "public survey" to push climate change policy.

Sorry all, I missed the tie-in to the current story. The Jobs Minister doesn’t have to be in the province to command the jobs to appear, they only have to give the order. And if the economy doesn’t respond the way that their commanders say they should, then the government can be expanded and get to the same end result: more jobs and a stronger economy. Conservatives know that it won’t work, but will never be believed “because this time it’ll be different”. The same as every other time these plans have failed.

Prior to coming to The Rebel – the general position from Canadians on Alberta has been – who gives a shit about the Texas of Canada. Does everyone here live in Alberta?

The NDP still believes in a command economy. So does Trudeau with “I’d have to say China, I respect their basic dictatorship, they can turn their economy on a dime” (paraphrased). They missed the biggest lesson of the 20th century: planned economies fail compared to free ones. That’s why the Berlin wall fell. All of the thoughts that socialism was a natural evolution of society are wrong because they miss the basic drives of humanity. Indeed, at a pragmatic level socialism is anti-evolutionary because it demands that everyone accept their place in society and accept that they cannot advance their genes (children) through any action of their own.

Socialism can work on a small scale with volunteers, but will only work on the large scale with a society of angels or a lot of people with guns pointed at the populace to force the populace “into their place”. There have been a lot of attempts at communes in North America over the last few hundred years: the colony at Plymouth Rock tried to be one. Very few remain because they’re just not successful.

Notely would like nothing better than to completely end oil production in Alberta. I pretty sure thats fairly high on her priorities list. She will go about it by first raising corporate taxes which shes done and will do again. Next, raise oil royalties per barrel by a large margin, tar sands oil is already by far the most expensive oil to extract. Now she will add a shit load of new regulatory fees and expensive regulations. Presto Albertas oil is now so difficult and expensive to extract that it is no longer worth it. If oil need to be at $120 a barrel to make any profit off of it in Alberta they will just stop extracting it on there own. Thats Notelys plan for Albertas oil industry.
Thats what I think is going to happen anyway.

Albertan’s better hope that Thomas Mulcair doesn’t get in, Alberta will become a have not Province in no time. Notley is starting the process for him.

See what PIG NOTLEY DID?? Now read this

The Communist Manifesto summarises Marx and Engels’ theories about the nature of society and politics, that in their own words, “The history of all hitherto existing society is the history of class struggles”. It also briefly features their ideas for how the capitalist society of the time would eventually be replaced by socialism, and then finally communism.

I was referring to Notleys new policies on Albertan oil. Raised taxes, royalty fees, etc. All at a time when the price has been tanked by opec and the Saudis etc.
commented 2015-09-06 19:55:48 -0400
“The socialist government destroying Canadian oil is who is making the policies.” Actually, Saudi Arabia has initiated this collapse in oil prices to attempt to create their dominance in the market. Do your research!

Brian,

Like with all things in life – there are bad seeds everywhere and people who take advantage of the system and people – this is just as true of the rich and those that “contribute to society” The bottom line though is that across the board – the good far outweighs the bad. You don’t throw the baby out with the bath water.
commented 2015-09-06 19:51:43 -0400
Why would you think those two things arent linked at the hip? The socialist government destroying Canadian oil is who is making the policies.

Brain Cameron, are you even talking about the article or are you talking about something totally different. I thought this was about Canadian oil, not social policies.

Brian,
I am talking about ALL taxes. Not just for social programs. What if I don’t want to pay for military or let’s say I only ride a bike, so why should I pay for highway repairs?
Again – taxes are not a la carte where we can check off a slew of things that we are willing to pay for and cross off the things that we don’t want to pay for.
So yes – tough shit, that’s life. """

Oh my god how did you totally miss the point. That makes sense though socialist have a deficiency in the logic center of the brain that makes them behave completely irrational. Is it pehaps that your argument is also deficient so you are deflect back to this?

Peter,
Only difference is Allison had enough self respect to resign. That is quite common with conservatives that screw up. Notley wont. She will blame everybody else. Socialists never have the integrity to take responsibility and resign sadly.
commented 2015-09-06 19:36:31 -0400
Then prepare to be boarded Jimmy. The first phase is way more taxes, of all kinds, service fees, usage fees, and revenue tools (Kathleen Wynne’s favourite). Because this is never enough to provide everyone who is voting for the free services with the increasing free stuff, then the borrowing goes vertical. We are already seeing that especially in those socialist governments that you love. They can’t do math you know. Then, when the tax is max, and lenders won’t lend, those with savings, and any who actually have wealth are targeted, to pay for those who do not have.
I’ll bet you don’t even know what I’m talking about, you just think life is good, and you’re OK.

Your favorite policies are creating a nanny state of welfare leeches and criminals. There are families spanning several generations through out every city in Canada that do nothing, they don’t work, there kids don’t work, they leech off of social housing that’s meant to help people truly in need . They sit on welfare and have no desire to ever get a job, supplement there income with drugs and crime and raise there children to do the same. There used to be a couple blocks of these houses in most cities. Now they have expanded to entire neighborhoods, even large sections of the city. We buy there food, drugs, medical, house, and monthly income. we raise there kids and bang the circle starts again. That is what socialism and its policies breed, dependents.
Here is a good way to contrast the two opposite ideologies. All the most violent awful places to live in the USA are all liberal democrat strong holds like Detroit. The most prosperous safe and economically sound places to live in the USA happen to be conservative. They are conservative, thats gotta hurt. Yep they all have little to no gun laws, happy friendly people and good economies. That is because they don’t create generations of lazy, entitled dependents. Go have a look all the data is there. Socialist societies alway collapse in on themselves. They implode over and over again. Look at greece, that will be Ontario in 5 more years. How can you deny all of this data over and over when its all right there? It will always be there and will continue to show us new examples the more people like you ignore it.

Jimmy me boy, don’t be so resigned to life, as in “that’s life”.
As the socialism winds down, those with wealth leave, or move their wealth out of reach. That’s those who have some, and understand the way life works.
Then the private sector quietly leaves, because everything gets too expensive, because all those free things must continue, because so many voters insist on it, even though they hardly ever go out, except to vote and spend the welfare cheque. And finally, even if the majority are on the dole, and free stuff, for 45 years, and continue to keep voting for it, you hit the wall. There are examples, all around.

Just like Redford, Motley’s only interest is living a celebrity life. She will end up as Allison, Danielle and Jim did. Ousted

Thats not life Jimmy. That is holding all our finances hostage to the whims of a few individuals and what free program they wanna fund before the next election to ensure suckers like you that believe that will vote for them.
The government should supply essensial services with a minimum staff and wages and benefits equal to that of the private sector. They are not there to provide daycare and raise your children with other peoples money.

Brian,

Paying taxes isn’t a la carte – we can’t pick and choose where our taxes go. So we are ALL paying taxes to something we don’t support one way or another.

That’s life.

In time Notely will go to far and I wouldn’t be surprised if we see Albertans march on there provincial parliament demanding her resignation. Albertans won’t put up with her progressive agenda or stand idly while she tears there economy to shreds. Albertans arent Ontarions if you know what I mean.
commented 2015-09-06 19:05:05 -0400
Well Jimmy not everyone wants you to spend there money for them or pay for other peoples chid rearing or daycare etc. That should be our choice.

Yes Anonymous. Notley’s Crew now has 4 years to raise taxes & royalties, borrow and spend Alberta into oblivion, create some more social programs, hire more unionized mandarines and make new regulations on oil and gas development. All of which will be hard to reverse when we eventually boot their sorry NDP asses out.

Nutley is in power, She’ll do her best to ruin Alberta… Her and her stunned government is on a road to disaster.
Green my arse miss Nutley.. you and your green fools will destroy the main economic engine of Canada … Do you really think the oil sands are ruining the planet when it’s barely a pin prick on the map of the world ? Why don’t you ever bitch about the middle eastern oil flowing into Canada with blood on it’s hands ? Are you that glazed over that you can’t understand Canada could be independent from outside petroleum if you supported Canadian oil extraction and production ?
I’m just saying!!!
