Former Toronto mayoralty candidate Sarah Thomson dropped a bombshell the other day when she accused TVO host Steve Paikin of inappropriately propositioning her.
Thomson alleges that Paikin offered her a spot on his TV show if she would sleep with him.
It should be noted that nothing has been proven in a court of law, and unless and until the real facts come out, we’re left trying to assess the likelihood of the allegations and the reliability of Paikin’s denial.
Regardless of where you sit on the political spectrum, anyone who has ever met Mr. Paikin would have an easier time believing that the world is flat than buying Thomson's allegations.
TV Ontario hasn’t thrown Paikin under the bus by removing him from the anchor’s chair based on an unsubstantiated allegation.
And for his part, Paikin is not going quietly into the night. Rather, he fired back at Thomson in a 600-word rebuttal.
Will Paikin get his "day in court", or will he be tried in the court of public opinion?
