Alberta: MacKinnon Report shows true extent of Rachel Notley's overspending, so Kenney must act now

Ezra LevantRebel Commander

Alberta’s had four years of disaster under Rachel Notley's NDP and it doesn’t look like Jason Kenney will be able to deliver a quick fix.

Kenney won the premiership of Alberta in April, but has yet to deliver a budget — and bad news in the form of the MacKinnon Report was just delivered.

The Report was led by Janice MacKinnon, the former Finance Minister of Saskatchewan under an NDP Premier Roy Romanow. The vice-chair of the panel is Mike Percy, formerly a senior Liberal Party politician. Both are professors.  There are a couple more researchers on the panel, including Dave Mowat, and eco-extremist I don’t like one bit — he's the NDP’s climate-fighting hero, who actually went down to an Al Gore training camp.

This ain’t exactly the Jason Kenney fan club. It's a multi-partisan group.

But they were unanimous in agreeing that the NDP have left behind a disastrous financial situation in Alberta.

According to the Report's recommendations to cut spending on everything from education to health care, Alberta is number one in the country for spending. And the number one for overspending.

Spending is one thing, but what about the earning money side? Not so good. There's been a decrease in private sector investment in every single year. Canada’s as a country is not doing much better, by the way, under Trudeau. But it’s moving slightly positive.

But there’s good news underneath all that bad news. The good news is — Albertans. There have been many companies that have gone out of business, or just left for greener pastures. But there are plenty of Albertans who have stayed. By being smart. By cutting things they had to cut, to avoid cutting the things they couldn’t cut. Alberta has been down before, and it’s come back.

This report gives Kenney the independent certification that he has to cut.

This MacKinnon Report provides the multi-party cover. This isn’t about the UCP, or the NDP. This is about fixing the whole province — the panel was unanimous in its advice.

Let me sum it up for you: Jason Kenney's government has got to cut, and with an axe, not a scalpel.

If it’s not done now, it will never be done. It can never be done.

NEXT: Dozens of activists have descended upon the Jumbo Valley Hutterite turkey farm near Fort MacLeod, Alberta! Sheila Gunn Reid has the details and updates.

FINALLY: Your messages to me!

I had a good laugh with Ezra’s closing remark, “freedom to keep out those stupid hippies”. The politicized and incompetent RCMP need to be given their walking papers, it is time to have an “Alberta Police Force”. More than likely, the Hutterites were not prepared to deal with lunatics. Look at the rest of Alberta, we were not prepared to deal with the left wing socialists, outside lobbyists and our own Federal government betrayal. There is a point in time when real change must take place. If the Liberals get elected again, I hope Albertans will stand up and support needed changes.

“You’ll never win the media over being a conservative and when you’re trying to make the media happy you’re pissing us conservative voters off. "

Exactly. And pussies like scheer-the-steer have pissed this conservative and his wife off to the point that they don’t get our votes anymore.

Go Max!

- Kenny needs to make deep cuts to government & business killing regulation in his first year. Cut deep & then repair. Ford should have done this in Ontario but didn’t. This will cost him & the people of Ontario in the years to come. As far as the public sector unions are concerned – gut them. They use taxpayer money for far left political activism. I have no sympathy for them.

- So now the RCMP are bellhops for illegals, protectors of criminal activists & lackeys for the Liberal government. They need a change in leadership, badly. Time to wipe their brass. This was an organized protest. Whoever was behind it won’t be coming forward willingly – bet on it. The Hutterite’s are taking “turn the other cheek” too far in my opinion. Jesus overturned the tables of the money changers at the temple. He was no pushover. Don’t buy into the hippie Jesus narrative (just look to Revelation to see how un-hippie he will be.)

I am a conservative right through to the core but I will tell you one thing that burns me to no end about Conservative politicians. They talk a tough talk behind closed doors to us when they want to get elected but when they do get elected they are as quiet as church mice. They do nothing in terms of cutting govt waste and wasteful spending in jobs for fear they may upset anyone. I have a news flash for those of you seeking a conservative leadership somewhere: The media hates you and always will hate you. Open your eyes and figure that out. Cut the spending where it needs to be cut and quit worrying about upsetting the lefty media already. Grow some god damn balls and stick to your conservative roots! You’ll never win the media over being a conservative and when you’re trying to make the media happy you’re pissing us conservative voters off.

Stephen E., part of what you describe could be de-policing. Police don’t want to do much about these incidences because in the end, anything they actually do, can and will be held against them.
commented 2019-09-06 14:09:13 -0400
So it’s a goddamned mess and tough measures are needed to avoid really tough times, right?

So, I wonder which completely useless ministries Kenney will get rid of?

Culture, Multiculturalism, and the Status of Women?
Indigenous Relations?
Communication and Public Engagement?

How about “none of the above”?

And how about a page from the book of Ontario’s Great Yellow Hope, Double-cross Doug Ford: “not one civil servant will loose his/her job.”

When people invade your property and the police are far away (such as from a farm) what can you do? Show the invaders your hunting rifle or shotgun? Then you go to jail, even if it is empty.

When I fired a handyman he decided that I have keep him on – though he never showed up to do the work. He decided to tear the shingles off my roof. I called the police while this was going on and I was told its a “civil matter”; they can’t intercede. Trespass, destruction of private property, extortion? Criminal code?

The desk sergeant told me that he asked his superior about sending a car and was told that what the handyman was doing isn’t against the law. Lazy cops hear, see and speak no evil.

I told the man and his son that if they don’t stop I’m going to get my shotgun (non-existent) and they ran away.

Its like when I tried to report a hit-and-run on my parked car at a mall. There was a ten minute discussion whether to make a report. Oh joy!

Its like when my neighbours complained to the police en mass about drug dealers in the park. Nothing the police can do. Oh joy!

A high school teacher I knew called the police about a member of the school’s football team trying to break into her house. I was present when they (finally) showed up; she asked me to come over until they arrived. The police said there was nothing they could do. Oh joy!

I said to her in front of them that we are going to go to Canadian Tire and get a shotgun for her. “If he gets in, blow his legs off.” The “officers” actually turned pale, looked at each other, and then promised to “have a talk” with the unstable student.

The police won’t do anything to protect us. But the Liberals past and present want us unarmed and unable to protect ourselves.

Guess why I am pro-gun.

Good program! Re: Hutterites , Not surprised by the RCMP. They are an embarrassment! Not just in Alberta but all across the west! I posit that the issue here is deeper than turkeys! If you dig deeper you may find that there has been tension towards Hutterites in the past! Not just in Alberta but in Saskatchewan I believe!

A big clean up is needed after ever NDP government is sent back in to the woods.

When the state cannot or will not uphold the law a man will have to defend himself.

“Taking the law into one’s own hands and attempting to effect justice according to one’s own understanding of right and wrong; action taken by a voluntary association of persons who organize themselves for the purpose of protecting a common interest, such as liberty, property, or personal security; action taken by an individual or group to protest existing law; action taken by an individual or group to enforce a higher law than that enacted by society’s designated lawmaking institutions; private enforcement of legal norms in the absence of an established, reliable, and effective law enforcement body.”

It’s not cuts that are needed, it’s chops. Entire ministries and a horde of government agencies could disappear overnight and no one would miss them. But Kenney doesn’t have the balls to do that.

Albertans wanted the unchecked/unwarranted socialist spending of the NDP stopped. Premier Kenney has been given a mandate to clean the toilet bowl left unflushed by the NDP….tax-paying Albertans have already cut back and down to survive, time for those who live off the taxpayer to tighten their belts as well. The NDP additional Alberta child welfare payment paid on top of the federal child welfare should be discontinued as it forces Albertans to pay for this welfare program twice.

Definitely an organized trespass onto the private Hutterite farm, hopefully The Rebel’s investigative efforts will flush out the perpetrators.
Shame on the RCMP, agree with Ezra that they were there to enforce the law and not broker a peace deal to benefit the criminals, now they have set a major precedent for all upcoming eco terrorist home invasions.
Perhaps the Hutterite colony will come to realize that turning a cheek to this blatant criminal act will harm other colonies and will press forward and have the perps charged.

Sean… provided a list of all those you believe will suffer when the McKenney government rolls up its sleeves to clean up the NDP mess yet you made absolutely no mention of hard working tax paying Albertans who endured 4 years of “suffering” in order to survive the NDP spend fest. The NDP continued to line the pockets of those on your list while those providing the means had to cut back and cut down. It is apparent you “suffer” with the socialist me-me-me syndrome.

Sheila. I assume your friends were likely in a state of shock, but please ask them about this in an interview. And effects on the children. If they had a concern for a peaceful resolution due to concern about the children etc. It’s important for pursuing legal against the police, which I’ll consider pursuing.

The police didn’t get their ID.s, or seize their phones, for which they’d have easily gotten an order to view, which would have lead them to the financier’s, the group head etc. They really blew it. I’m extremely angry too Ezra!!

Christians are under severe attack in this society, and police are complicit.
commented 2019-09-06 00:07:12 -0400
Keeping the peace and upholding the law are in fact, one in the same. When you arrest back-guys, you’re removing them from the situation and creating a deterrent to them , and other would-be eco-terrorists. This family were denied their right to equal benefit and protection under the law, and so are all the citizens they’ll attack next for lack of deterrent.

They were all wearing the same outfits and professional signs. They could be considered terrorist organization. The police basically have admitted being scared of them, so yeah, terrorist applies, regardless what their signs say.

The farm owner should sue the police and pursue a private prosecution against them for Obstructing Justice, because apparently the police are in need of a deterrent from assisting law breakers.

To start Ezra, Sheila should interview the officer. Ask why he let them go. Ask if he got their IDs. Ask if he was told to handle it this way. Ask about aiding and abetting extortion etc.

Sean Penson, do you truly believe that Trudeau will/has relieve the suffering and pain of being…? Are you alive? If you are, have you ever taken any responsibility for anything or do rely on others to take the blame, pick up the slack, or fix you? You seem to be the one with an agenda here and it’s to have the Government behave as our nanny. You can have “Big Brother” but those of us who are productive would rather do without you and your “progressive” swamp,

The left have become the bullies in the schoolyard. The Hutterite Turkey Farm invasion is like picking on the meekest smallest kid in the yard and forcing him to give up his lunch money. Try that at Lilydale and they all of them have court dates.
In the case of the former NDP bullies in Alberta, they paid the biggest kid in the yard, the government unions, to do the punching for them to squeeze the others, the private sector, out of their lunch money.

Best be careful Ezra. These criminals may have you hauled into a HRC for hurting their feelings. At the end of the day I suppose the paid protesters would be happy if the operation was converted to a plant based turkey “meat” farm. Simple solution for fucking retards who don’t have a fucking clue about anything other than that pot is now legal.

This is proof that Scheer as a hidden agenda. Kenney and Ford are of the same creature: massive cuts, no matter the pain.

The average university student is suffering.

The poor, especially those on income assistance, are suffering.

2SLGBTQ+ people kind are suffering.

Pregnant wymyn, who are forced to give birth are suffering.

Scheer is of the same cut

Then I suggest they all move to Venezuela where life is much better.

Ezra’s correct, the so called Police behaved like the Government Bell-Hops that they have become perhaps because of the influence of Female Leaders. Obviously I’m referring in part to Commissioner Brenda Lucki, whose photo of her and
Trudeau kissing is now famous as a result of her lack of action in starting an investigation into the SNC Criminal Investigation involving her boss and many other upper Government Officials plus tons of evidence from impeccable sources.

Commissioner Lucki has also received a few Medals and awards from the United Nations. ( UN Force Commanders Commendation ) Quite a connection, Trudeau and the UN. and Lucki

A woman was in charge of the B.C. RCMP, but the NDP just lured her away with a new High Up position in Government. To the amazement of many, she was replaced by another woman. The only reason I mentioned this is that there are so few qualified women in the force, and they are getting these big jobs.

JAN G., I was thinking along the lines of …people first have to want to help themselves, before anyone else can really help them. In this case, if the Hutterites won’t defend themselves, would they even consider allowing other people to defend them?

That will be interesting to watch. Canadians will hear the screaming and crying right cross the country. It needs to happen. As far as Notley is concerned, its too bad we can’t lock her up.

That the story was even given to Sheila is really making me wonder who is behind this Hutterite harassment story. That along with the shirts and signs make it look like its from some group that really doesn’t understand how it works.

A mob of people come marching onto my property uninvited and they are going to know right off its not a good idea.
Mike K. I don’t think Penson’s mother brought him up right, maybe dropped him on his head a few too many times and his father beat him. Definitely a sick puppy.

BRUCE ATCHISON: Further explanation of the golden vs silver rule is: doing unto others means doing good things for others, rather than not doing the same as they have done to you. These people did good toward their persecutors, and as Sheila said, they would have probably fed these people.
Look at the story of Polycarp who fed the soldiers before they arrested him.
