Media piles on to Alberta Party claim that robocalls impersonated leader, endorsed Kenney

The Alberta Party says someone impersonated their leader, Stephen Mandel, in a robo-call that endorsed UCP leader Jason Kenney for premier.

A self-described Alberta Party supporter reported that he received an automated call from someone claiming to be Mandel.

It seems that supporter then contacted his friend, Alberta Party candidate Marvin Olson, who then sent the complaint up the chain of command.

Mandel, along with a couple of his candidates, held a press conference on Sunday afternoon in Edmonton, admonishing the fake call as dirty politics and demanding an RCMP investigation into the underhanded tactics.

A dozen breathless articles were written in the mainstream media, repeating the claims made in the bizarre press conference as gospel truth.

But there was one problem:

It wasn't Mandel.

The call came from former Prime Minister Stephen Harper who was endorsing his long time friend and former cabinet minister Kenney.

Watch my video to see how the largely unknown Alberta party became the Jussie Smollett of Alberta politics as a last minute attempt for relevancy.

Glad Mandel did not get any seats, he is a slumlord and left projects half finished in the city when he had to pay for the new arena for a billionaire to profit from.

I agree.
If Mr. Harper had called my number, that message would be a keeper.
Sadly, this deterred from his genuine contribution to the UCP campaign. If others heard it, after all the coverage, they’d delete it thinking it was Mandel.
But then, if anyone couldn’t recognize Mr. Harper’s voice, it means they don’t know their Canadian politics very well.

Thanks for the clarification, I have not seen it yet elsewhere.

My opinion had been that the robo-caller was NDP considering the negative smear campaign they ran. Made no sense why the UCP would do this when they they were leading the polls.

I note there are blue skies today, hopefully bluer tomorrow. I state that, because when May 5, 2015 election occurred we had a a blizzard blowing in the Peace.

Call me nuts, I don’t care but it was good to hear PM Stephen Harper’s voice on the phone!

The Left lying and perpetrating a hoax is nothing new. Morality for the Left is a non-sequitur.

I always liked that gag he did as “Bobby” where he showed off his “Hand” bag. Funny stuff…
