Teresa Ng, an author for Informed Albertans, made a shocking discovery on a website recommended by Alberta Education to assist schools with Gay Straight Alliance (GSA) clubs, which is of course accessible to school aged children.
The problem isn’t with the clubs, but with what was being promoted on the Alberta GSA Network.
This taxpayer funded website has links to a Facebook page called Fruit Loop which contains sexually explicit content, like pictures of naked men being flogged, suggestions to visit group masturbation nights at local sex clubs, and visuals of BDSM (Bondage, Discipline, Sadism, Masochism) product usage.
The Institute for Sexual Minority Studies and Services (iSMSS) is paid by the Alberta government to organize the material for the Alberta GSA Network.
Dr. Kristopher Wells, a Faculty Member with the group is described as the “driving force” behind the Alberta GSA Network.
If that name sounds familiar, it’s because Wells once posted a cartoon depicting Christians as Nazi’s, has been accused of discriminating against Catholics and was once quoted saying that teaching chastity is "embarrassing and inappropriate.”
Watch as I discuss this with Donna Trimble of Parents for Choice in Education, a group that advocates for parents of school aged children.
She explains how the story broke, describes the sexually explicit content found on the site, and explains what she would like to see done about it.
The link has now been taken down from the Alberta GSA Network, but that didn’t stop Wells from tweeting out a message of thanks to Fruit Loop that very same day, almost as if to provoke those that found the link offensive.
I contacted Wells for his response to the claim that he was aware of the egregious content available on the Alberta GSA Network and to give him a chance to defend himself against accusations that he’s anti-Catholic and sexualizes children, but he didn’t respond to my email.
